Yea... It does seem a bit too early for another Left 4 Dead game.
But if they really feel that strong about it then just don't buy it. Oh wait....

As noted in our coverage, Valve has a history of supporting their titles years after release, a new title doesn't mean anything. CS: S didn't lose support when DoD: S came about. When TF2 came out they didn't cut support on DoD: S, as such it's annoying more than anything that these people are so up in arms.

Did they get short changed on a game they paid for almost a year ago? Doubtful. I've put so many hours into L4D I don't have room to complain. I've had other games I've paid as much for or more and I've only gotten a fraction of the replay value that L4D gave me.

People need to realize that sequels are going to come and that it doesn't mean the title they were playing is going to be abandoned just like that. Stomping their feet expecting an entirely new cast and set of levels to come for free is just absurd though. Maybe a new map but even then the Dev tools are now free for people to use and exact their own maps.

Gamestop is probably more evil than Valve -- not getting much done there.

Think I'd have to side with Gabe here -- if they abandoned the first game and/or the sequel wasn't a true sequel, I'd side with the other camp, but as it is, perhaps the announcement should be taken in good stride -- that is, L4D was a great success that afforded Valve the opportunity to follow it up properly, quickly. Not that I don't respect the ire.

Though it does seem like this is pretty similar to the first game -- maybe it should be paid DLC?

Are people really being that stupid/stubborn? I'm almost disgusted by it.>_<

Sure, it may be a little early, but the game looks amazing. I don't see why there should be such a big problem over it. :-P

My problem with it, is that I feel the content that will be included in L4D2 SHOULD'VE been included with L4D, or atleast introduced as DLC. I paid $40 for a game that really wasn't worth more than $20, and now they're expecting us to pay full price for something that is the way L4D should've been from the start. I think this issue is similar to the RE5 Versus "DLC".

YMMV really with any game, if you played it and hated it enough to feel that you didn't get your moneys worth then really what makes you think paid DLC would make that any better? Obviously lack of play / online networking ended up nuking your experience with the game in such a case since there are many with hundreds of hours clocked in on the game and yet 8-10 hours on other titles at higher cost.

Actually they're hoping for consumers to return and buy a product. They expect nothing from them, it's a false statement acting as if they're forcing you to do something when they really aren't and when they've always supported their older games even today. It's like saying DoD: Source was incomplete because TF2 came out with achievements later and then woosh Valve upgraded the engine on the game and introduced Steamworks achievements into the game. I guess it does pay to be selective about Valve's history of commitment to their games though.

Indeed, because when L4D2 comes out it'll be a sub 1MB unlock for assets that can't be found in the existing SDK files. Try to actually piece together valid points.

The petition / boycott itself seems to be fueled by gamers that want to feel entitled about their purchase. Not really my cup of tea, you pay for the product that you get, you don't pay for the product based on potential avenues down the road.

Yeah I did feel the first L4D was pretty small for the price and now they're releasing the second game so soon afterwards. For the £30 I was expecting L4D to last as long as TF2 has, not to be replaced by L4D2. I know they're still going to release updates for L4D but it won't really be the same when L4D2 is what L4D1 should have evolved into.

I'm still buying L4D2 though, the game does look good. I just hope it'll last longer than the first game did

As a single player experience, I could see you feeling ripped off, but the game was always about multiplayer anyway, no?

I hate people like that. Stuck up little bastards. L4D gave valve such a big success they decided to give the second one pretty soon. Feeling the fans would want that, then they get turned on? Biting the hand that feeds, no?

If I had a Steam account I would make a group with the opposite view, just to prove to Valve that they should continue with a successful series.
