Excitebots April sales only hits 13,000 units at US retail
Early sales show anything but excitement for Excitetruck's successor
Hot on the heels of their monthly sales data for the games industry, NPD Group confirms that Nintendo and Monster Games' Excitebots: Trick Racing only managed to sell an estimated 13,000 copies during the final stretch of April. While the game placed in NPD's April report, it was in fact available for less than two weeks by the time the monthly sales data was finalized.
Nevertheless, Excitebots' low sales figure proved to be a cause for concern with Wii pundits given its mostly positive critical reception and pedigree. Though both Excitetruck and Excitebots were produced by Monster Games, Nintendo served as publisher for the titles and those well versed in Nintendo's long history of franchises will have no trouble associating them with the NES classic Excitebike. The concern then arises from how even Nintendo-backed titles might find themselves lost in the sea of casual-oriented Wii titles.
