I think if you are willing to spend money for 192GB of RAM, you should be willing to accept the possibility the feds will show up at your door.

You could run the Internet in a VM.

192GB is too much. Hell, 20GB is too much.

I am willing to spend money on extra Ram. The question is how much wil this improve performance. My problem with windows, (all versions) for the last ten years is Diskdefragmenter with takes hours to run, even on a raid 0 setup Diskdefragmenter needs an upgrade

192GB is only for servers and special data processing machines (that would be super/research computer type setups) I think, really. I can't see a regular consumer needing 192GB in the next 15 to 20 years, TBH.

And when that time comes, they'll be like "WTF? How did we EVER get by on those ridiculously slow computers with a paltry 4GB of RAM?"

chriscreative thats because drivers are larger. a Raid 0 setup wont make defragging ANY faster, because a disk defragment has to go through the entire drive, its not randomly accessing it and gaining any speed. And at this point in time most people wont need over 8gb, and its really only useful to have that much with cad programs or video editing, photoshop etc, or to run virtual machines. Over 8gb is needed to run several vms at once though

Having more memory is fine in 64-bit systems and I know how Disk defragmenter works. For Windows 7 to be a great operating system it must be able to address the programs that caused the problems of the past.Video editing is my hobby.
