Possibly compensating with big, fat checks
Sony PR has that uncanny ability to come off as pompous, especially SCEA director of hardware marketing John Koller.
Earlier this month, he let the Internet know exactly how he felt about the DSi, accusing Nintendo of ignoring core gamers and insisting the PSP is just better all around.
Now Koller has moved past Nintendo and on to Microsoft. According to the SCEA exec, Microsoft feels a need to compensate for a self-perceived lack of strength in the 360's first-party titles; in other words, Microsoft has self-esteem issues. Hence, the company writes lots of fat checks for exclusive content, such as the "Lost and Damned" DLC for GTA IV.
“Microsoft has had a much more lenient policy to writing cheques than we do," Koller said. "We don’t feel the need to write cheques necessarily with every publisher, like they did with the Lost and Damned and some other titles, because we feel very strongly in our first-party line-up.
"I think it’s safe to say that we’d put our first-party line-up against anyone’s, and Microsoft and other manufacturers probably lead a little bit when they’re writing cheques about how they feel about their own internal line-up."
Well, you know, it's quite obvious Microsoft suffers from low self-esteem due to some deep-seeded maternal issues. Quick, someone call up Freud!

But, wow, I think Sony has the self-esteem issues. If they can't raise sales without belittling the other companies, then isn't it their problem?
Damn all xbox 360 users.
Also I own quite an array of systems, I go where decent titles are, but honestly I prefer PC gaming overall.
Have fun swinging around in the dark.
In the end, those companies are all rolling in more dough than any of us can dream of, though.
PS you can't call my a fanboy or a hater becasue all I've done is state facts in a 80% objective view, I own a 360 AND a PS3 and a PS2 and a PS1 and a PSP, so I'm clearly not biased nor do i hate Sony...all I'm saying is that....they suck.
I can say you missed the point, RCG wasn't actually defending Sony, she was throwing a bucket of water on someone trying to start a bit of a flame war by closing that regardless it's silly that they're battling over who made more billions as a whole and that in the end it's doing damage to their company image.
