Build 7057 -- apparently good until May, 2010

Windows 7 possible release candidate leaked Image 1

There hasn't been this much interest in Windows in quite awhile, it seems.

While beta keys for Microsoft's newest OS, Windows 7, are still available through MS's website, the company is no longer publicly releasing beta builds of the upcoming OS. However, this hasn't stopped a steady trickle of new beta builds being posted on the torrent sites, of course.

The latest build, Build 7057, appears that it might actually be the release candidate many Windows 7 followers have been waiting for. The build was compiled on March 5th, a full full-month later than than the prior leaked build, Build 7048.

Only the 32-bit, Ultimate version is currently floating around on the world's torrent sites, it seems. However, unlike previous versions of the OS, this build appears to be good until May 4, 2010. Other builds of Win 7 were set to de-validate this August.

This build only hit the Internets a few hours ago, so it is possible it is a fake. One person who tried the build, reported on SevenForums that "it was a dud iso, someone had edited 7000 build to read out 7057, sorry guys." Other people have said it works well.

Update: Another user told me they downloaded this build, and the EULA says that it is RC1, so it appears to be the real deal. Though the EULA might be RC1 ready, while the rest of the build isn't, I suppose...
