Boy apparently mistook knife for a toy
In February, we reported the fate of a young English man who murdered another teenager over a stolen Xbox. Some readers who commented on the article were curious to as to whether there have ever been similar violent disputes over other consoles.
Well, we can now add the Nintendo DS to that pile, though this case is not quite so insidious. While no English publication has covered this story yet, the French media has reported a DS-related stabbing in Uckange.
A 5-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his 10-year-old sister because she wouldn't give him her Nintendo DS. Their mother, a single parent with sole custody of the two children, was asleep at the time but awoke to her daughter's screams.
The girl is currently in the hospital and seems alright for the most part. The boy is fully aware of his actions, the report said. He told the police exactly why he stabbed his sister, and that he thought the knife was a toy. There was mention of a Power Rangers game with knife-throwing, but not much else is known at this point.

Common sense people, don't leave pointy objects around young children.
