Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 review
Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 - ZOMFG!

The good:

Campaign mode is challenging yet fun with a few new inclusions
Special Ops mode delivers
Multiplayer is even better than CoD4's
New powerful, accurate weaponry brings a new dimension

The bad:

Campaign is a little short
But this game pretty much does not know the meaning of bad

Introduction- Well, what can I say. Fans of Call of Duty 4 have been looking forward to this since the original Modern Warfare was released back in 2007. Yes, we had World at War released last year, but this is the creme de la creme of FPS shooters.
Call of Duty 4 won tons of awards for it's genius campaign mode and it's perfect multiplayer, and while many are still enjoying CoD4 to this day, MW2 brings so much more to the plate, and in a giant, hearty portion. Since CoD4's release, fans were desperate to see a new Modern Warfare game, so obviously everyone was disappointed when Treyarch revealed they were releasing yet another World War II game. But this was better for us, as it gave primary developers Infinity Ward the chance to fully perfect Modern Warfare 2.
The Story- The story is, as you'd expect, truly breathtaking. Full of those all on, movie-style action sequences that has made Call of Duty as a series so memorable. Set five years after the original Modern Warfare, you team up with the protagonist of CoD4, Captain 'Soap' MacTavish, who is now your superior, in a bid to destroy the Russian Ultranationalists bid to recreate the Soviet Union. The villain this time, is Vladimir Makarov, one of Imran Zakhaev's associates. Makarov is out for revenge, and launches a massive attack on the United States East Coast. This results in a stunning rendition of the US Capitol. But, there's a very surprising twist in the plot. When on a mission capturing intel from Makarov's estate house in Russia, where you're faced with heavy opposition. Once you pass the Russian troops making attempts on your life, you're met with the ultimate betrayal. Step forward General Shepherd. I'll leave you to play before you find out what happens exactly.
There is also a surprise for one of the most loved characters from the Call of Duty 4 campaign. He aids you through some of the missions towards the end of the game. Watch out though, the enemies are tough. With the exclusion of infinite respawns, enemies have been toughened. They'll use clever tactics in order to get behind you and flank you. On harder difficulties, it'll be nigh on impossible to survive these barrages.
Multiplayer- The definitive multiplayer experience is back. Call of Duty 4 set the boundary for fun, but challenging multiplayer. It was the reason over 15 million people bought the game. And now Modern Warfare 2 has everything from
CoD4's multiplayer with a few new modes to tickle your fancy, including the brilliant Demolition as well as the hilarious 3rd person modes. There are over 40 weapons in Modern Warfare 2, including Assault Rifles, SubMachine Guns, Sniper Rifles, Light Machine Guns, Shotguns, Anti-infantry and Anti-air launchers. Also in the game are the classis semi-auto pistols, as well as Machine Pistols, such as the Glock 18, making this game truly gangsta friendly. With people already, as of 27th November 2009, having played 9 days on multiplayer alone, it shows how addictive this game is. Those who are playing this game expecting it to be a reskin of CoD4 will be in for a definite surprise. The textures are more solid and detailed, the lighting is, as always, superb, and the maps freakin' huge. They are massive. CoD4 was all about CQB, and now this is all about pinpoint marksmanship.
Special Ops- Infinity Ward definitely wanted this game to be a challenge, and in these extra missions it really is. There are 23 missions, all based heavily from either Modern Warfare 2's campaign, as well as some of fans' favourite CoD4 missions. These are ordered in Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo, with the difficulty of the missions ascending in each group. In some Charlie missions, and most of the Delta and Echo missions, you will receive resistance from Juggernauts. These are guys with tonnes of armour. They take four to five bullets of a .50 cal sniper to kill, so these are always mischief makers, and definitely halt your progress. Using the right strategies will see you dispose of them pretty quickly, however.
Conclusion- Not buying this game is a bad decision. Those who have played Call of Duty in the past need to adapt to this game as well as those who are buying a CoD game for the first time. With the fun and challenging gameplay you'll be playing days on this game before you even know it. It's definitely a must buy. Another stunning game with excellently thought campaign and maps, and the awesome new Special Ops mode adds that extra zing to the game.

I rate Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 a 10/10. The perfect game
