Midnight Club: Los Angeles

Midnight Club: Los Angeles User Reviews

8.8

L.A, Gorgeous cars, customisation. What more do you want?

The good:

Some of the most beautiful cars ever
Bikes are still here
L.A is gorgeous and a decent size
Online is a lot of fun
Customisation is awesome
Open world, one-wrong-turn-and-you're-knackered racing

The bad:

Outdated visuals, even by '08 standards
No Ferraris or Porches

Summary:

I know why you're thinking. "Why the hell is this guy reviewing a game that's nearly 6 years old?". Well the answer to that is a simple one. I bought this game as soon as it came out and being an avid racing game fan, I've played many different racing games, from Need for Speed to Gran Turismo and Burnout to Modnation Racers and the simple fact is, Midnight Club Los Angeles is still my favourite racing game be far. Why? I don't know.

Let's start with the story, because there isn't much of a one. You're the new kid on the block, fresh in town and like 99% of racing games, you start off with ...

Behind The Wheel

The good:

Millions of races
Long story
Large area to explore
Collectibles scattered across the map
Numerous cars
95% Customizable options
Photo album
Great online

The bad:

Small soundtrack - Plently of rap and hiphop. But very little selection for a rocker
Difficulty

Summary:

When I first put in Midnight Club LA I thought it would be rather bland. But I will admit it is my favorite racing game, and still impresses me after three months of owning it.

Starting off the game you are given one of three cars. All are rather shabby, but that's no problem. 95% of your car is changeable. Whether you disagree with a back bumper, want a different hood scoop, or just need an interior that says "amazing." You can choose from about 5 different options of bumpers, front bumpers, hoods, doors, sideskirts, exhausts, tires, driving wheel, seats, meters, and mods such as "widebody"...
