I must be one of the few people not excited by the PS4 announcement - underwhelming to say the least.

I'd just assumed this was Magnavox's latest release.

Some of the features are really interesting, like being able to play a game while downloading/installing it (something I really want to see for Steam, Starcraft 2 already does this) and spectator mode. That's all I can really comment on, because everything else was stuff we've already seen or just cinematic/pre-scripted trailers.

Which was kind of expected, Sony is going to save the real stuff for E3.

They recycled plenty of footage from last year's E3 and they were about as ambiguous as could be when it came to what kind of hardware was actually in the thing. Lots of people talked for a long time but not much was said. They're also going for that blocky, minimalist interface that I don't hate but don't really love either.

Several people in the stream I attended were only talking about how beautiful the graphics were, and didn't seem to understand why I was so hung up on wanting to hear about a broader variety of content than we've seen before and OS features instead. The "future" of graphics they were pitching has actually been around for about three years. The PS4 isn't even out yet and my PC has it slightly outclassed.
