Happiness! Episode 1 + 2
I picked this one up thanks to Crystal-san in #Trickster's and #Shiawase channels in mIRC. =) Anyway, the story is this; Girl being bullied. Guy saves Girl with magic powers. Girl admires Boy, but (magically) forgets to ask his name. A few years later, she has joined the Magic Department of her school and rapidly improves her skills in order to become just like the boy who saved her.
The girl is named Kamisaka Haruhi, and she is accompanied by her ultra-hyper rival/friend, Hiiragi Anri. While Haruhi is the composed type, Anri is the *almost* exact opposite, causing trouble for everyone with her less-than-perfect magic spells. How she became second-best in her year is beyond me.
One Valentine's day, Haruhi is once again, alone, buying only a single box of chocolates to give to that "boy". The problem is - she doesn't know who he is! The reason she's so driven to buy a chocolate every Valentine's is because she once went to a fortune-teller when she was younger - and the woman said that she would give a chocolate to that "special person", on Valentine's.
We are also introduced to the male protagonist, Kohinata Yuuma, who Haruhi notices to be strikingly alike to the boy who saved her. He, however, seems to have enrolled into the Regular Department, not learning Magic at all, so she has her doubts. Can he use magic?
Yuuma is accompanied by his two friends, Takamizo Hachisuke and Watarase Jun. Hachisuke is the regular sidekick, forever looking for a girlfriend, but never successful. He provides some comic relief...but the real prize goes to Jun. Why?
*SPOILER ALERT from here until all the way to the bottom*
While *she* looks like a girl, *she* is actually a HE. I am serious. He dresses up in the girl's uniform in school, and has no problem admitting that he is actually a boy. In fact, no one in class bothers, and actually support his antics. =)
In Episode One, Haruhi and Anri are squabbling because Anri wants Haruhi to give her chocolate to someone, so she herself can give her chocolate to Haruhi's designated Valentine! Frustrated, Anri deduces that Haruhi's chocolate probably has a name card on it, and promptly uses Magic to try and wrest it from Haruhi. However, her spell soon goes awry, and it destroys a window, going outside. The spell nearly hits Yuuma and his friends. Haruhi apolagizes for Anri's mishap and offers to heal him, but he pushes her wand away, saying he's okay. Haruhi then *instinctively?* gives her chocolate to Yuuma, who accepts it. Anri, seeing this, quickly gives hers' to him too. While Yuuma doesn't seem to look too impressed after the girls leave, Hachisuke is devastated that Yuuma has received chocolate from TWO girls from the magic department. Poor sap.
Anri later jokes with Haruhi and says that should the Magic Department get destroyed, Haruhi would probably be happy because they would be forced to join the Regular department, and at the same time, get to be with Yuuma. Of course, for the sake of our protagonists, the department *mysteriously* gets destroyed at night. In Episode Two, Haruhi and Anri have joined Yuuma's class. They are made to prepare the main hall for the entry of the freshmen to the school, and Anri spectacularly screws everything up, forcing everyone to work late into the night. Yuuma's little sister, Sumomo, joins the school, much to Haruhi's dismayed expression. (Jealous...haha) She, however, later finds out that she's just his adoptive imouto, and is relieved. Yuuma and Friends decide to prepare a sakura viewing picnic, and Yuuma somehow ends up with Haruhi. Haruhi divulges some of her past to Yuuma, but he seems to give her no reaction.
The next day, during the picnic, Takamine, a senpai of theirs in the Magic Department, secures a nice spot for them, and the picnic goes well for a while. Unfortunately, it starts to rain, and once again, Anri screwes everything up. =) Bottom line: For 15+ viewers. However the storyline goes, I'm expecting Haruhi to pair up with Yuuma in the end. -_-. Ah well. Unless they twist the storyline or something.
