Originally released only in Japan for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1998, Mega Man & Bass finally receives the localization treatment on GBA. While not an official numbered entry, Mega Man & Bass is set in the same universe as Capcom's 2D action platform series.
Players can choose to play as Mega Man or new character Bass, Dr. Wily's ultimate creation, and challenge over 11 side-scrolling levels. Each character plays differently, though both must defeat the eight robot masters serving the mysterious King. Both characters can upgrade their abilities, including being able to summon robotic animal allies like Rush and Treble.
Unlike most other entries in the series, players only have access to three stages at a time: defeating Robot Masters grants access to certain others. Also new to Mega Man & Bass is the use of save files to maintain game progress as opposed to the traditional password system.
This game is also known as Rockman and Forte in Japan.
