Master of Orion III User Reviews
nothing, except maybe spying and complexity. The bad:
-graphics - interface -gameplay - races -real time battles -complexSummary:
Graphics : outdated and nothing nice (mainly text to look at). Even intro is "cheap" and ugly. You're stuck in 800*600 resolution. In battles, ships are Tiny and Ugly
Interface : big shock there, interface is very clumsy and very unintuitive.
Gameplay : AI can take care of 90% of the game, and you CANT micro manage like others games of this kind. Game gets boring FAST.
- Hard to manage fleet, hard to figure what's going on with research, hard to understand what's going on with diplomacy (war then peace with no reason). Right now the computer just CANT attack your planet.

The master's notes attempt to train you to use the unwieldy interface, but it's not helpful enough to offset the awkward UI. It's not intuitive at all for the new player.
Then we have the AI. If you turn off the Senate victory option, it is impossible to lose the game without committing suicide. The enemy AI will not attack your planets unless it's in the same system as one of their systems.
