Mafia User Reviews
-Outstanding graphics for the required system specs and age of the game
-Excellent storyline, worthy of any Hollywood Gangster Film
-Some missions are extremely difficult
-Tiresome driving to begin every mission
-A Racing Car Mission feels incredibly frustrating and out of place
-Lack of any sort of in-game map can easily get you lost in the large city
It may be nearly five years old, but this forgotten gem of a game is perhaps the closest any game has ever gotten to achieving the 'feel' of a city. It's the best Mafiosa game ever made, and it's easily worthy of a place in gaming history due to it's virtually flawless presentation.
Mafia follows the path of Tommy, a cab driver caught up in a high-speed car chase between two warring Mafiosa gang members. Despite his best intents to not be drawn into their world of violence and corruption, he soon finds himself with a gun in his hand and more cash in his pocket than he could ever dream off.
Outstanding graphics, cut scenes, gameplay, sound, vehicles, weapons, Racing has been added. The bad:
some small glitches, if you have a good pc, the pc version can be better. No free ride extreme. Another feature with the pc version thats is sadly not on the ps2 version is that you cannot turn your car on and off (small, but gives it that realistic touch)Summary:
Set in the 30's this great game starts with Tommy Angelo as a taxi driver, earning poor money, working from dusk til dawn. He then becomes involved in the Mafia until finally, his boss wants to rub him out. So Tommy goes to the chief of police and tells his story of working for his boss Salieri, (where you start and do all these missions.)
I would also say that this game is far more realistic than GTA or True Crime, there is no room for Mini Guns and/or rocket launchers in your front pocket.
The ps2 version has some things in it that are better than the pc version and vice versa, overall, th...
excellent story and mission varietyThe bad:
Fluctuating diffuculty and cheap enemiesSummary:
Set in 1930s New York City-esque Lost Heaven--complete with innacureate guns and cars that struggle to break 50mph--Mafia tells the tale of an enterprising cabbie's rise through the ranks of the mov (via Grand Theft Auto-style car-based missions and third-person shooting action) and his subsequent attempt to rat out The Family. Which, as the canon of mob movies has taught me, is heavily frowned upon.
The excellent cut-scenes and score combine to set a wonderful mood, but right as you're cruising through the game's impressive variety of tasks, it all comes to a sscreeching halt. Highly...
- lots of cool looking vehicles to choose from.
- the story is very intresting.
- the town is pretty big.
- good choise of weapons.
- good graphics.
- the game was kind of short.
- nothing fun to do after you beat the game.
Mafia is the best game where you can get a good look at what its like to be in the Mafia. From killing your rivals to protect your friends. In the game you start out as a Taxi driver but as you progress throught the game you become a more respected Mafia member. The game is very exciting and very fun. The story line is so good that it like wraps you in that you cant stop playing till you reach the end to find out what happens. The story line is one of the best that I have seen but the only thing that sucks about it is that its not very long. There are long 22 missions. They arent like GTA m...
Music, sound, and audio are wonderful.
Realistic weapons and automobiles.
Who doesn't wanna be a gangster?!
Beautiful cut scenes and riviting story. The bad:
Apparently not near as good as the PC version!
NO BLOOD!
Driving can get old...Summary:
At the start of Mafia, you-Tommy Angelo, a normal ole' cabbie-are instantly thrown into action when two gangsters catch a ride with you to escape pursing members of the rival gang. Upon escaping and arriving at the Mafia's bar, you are offered a job but decline it, needless to say you eventually take it and are thrown into a world of crime, and high speed chases.

First off, PC's version of Mafia is far better.
Mafia is actually quite good, with wonderful sound, visual, and insanely realstic weapons. With tons of cars, you can always be collecting to find a new one to unlock for fr...

-fairly lengthy, challenging game
Mafia is a very detailed game set in the 1930's and is all about a man named thomas angelo talking about how he became a respected man in the italian american gang of the mafioso's.the game this game blows GTA away, i myself am a big fan of grand theft auto and after playing mafia my mouth was left open for weeks at the stunning graphics whcih for it's time where incredible and an exzillerating storyline which is all out action.it is aimed at people who enjoy shooters. the characters are superb, from rrralph the ssstuttering mechanic to tommys calm cool persona, from the hot headed paulie t...
