The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX User Reviews
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for Gameboy. Or The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for Gameboy Color, doesn't matter. They are both the same game, only DX has an updated color palette, a new dungeon and two new tunics. It's nothing major, but if you're a collector, you can get both, or if you just want to play the game, either is good.
This game is probably the greatest (dare I say it?) portable Legend of Zelda game ever made.
It's an excellent game, and is on par with games like Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES), or Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS).
The soundtrack ...
Simple but effective combat system
Great emphasis on exploration
Loads of sidequests
Shield setup awkward
Currency system mostly ineffective
Little stoyline involvement from the enemy
Our dear elven hero had already been through a lot by the time LA hit the portable scene. Legend of Zelda helped to define the adventure genre, then Adventures of Link introduced some key Zelda concepts to the series. A Link to the Past is often cited as one of the best entries in the series, combining elements from the NES titles. Now Link goes on the go in a new portable adventure.
If we were to judge a game by its looks then Link's Awakening can hold its head high. The character and item sprites look quite nice and there's a sufficient level of animation quality to things as well. Colour ...
They re-made the game from the original quite well. The bad:
It does get a little challenging sometimes and you just feel like giving up.Summary:
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX is a re-made version of the original. They have made it colour and added a few new features. I actually prefer this too the original because it's almost exactly the same but coulored. The graphics are pretty good for the characters and levels and the music too the levels are pretty good too and don't get repetetive. It's quite a challenging game in some places and i remember myself getting stuck the odd time or so. The designs for the majority of things for the game is good and has been improved slightly which i find quite good.
Overall i think this i...
Plenty of missions to do
Very challenging game and well worth the money paid for it
This game must have worn out several thousands of my brain cellsSummary:
This game was actually the first Zelda game I'd played in years. I've never owned a Nintendo console so I only played a version of Zelda well over 10 years ago at my cousin's house. I was very pleased with how this game developed and how many things there were to do. I don't remember how long it took me to beat this game, but it must have been about 100 hours at least.
You control Link and you are washed up on a beach at the start of the game. What you are doing there is uncovered through the storyline and events that happen in the game. Eventually you realise what is going on and why everyt...
Secret Dungeon included, with two new items
Photo Gallery included
Besides the above, its pretty much the same game
Secret dungeon is too short
The DX version of Link's Awakening is a color enhanced version of the original version, modified to fully utilitize the capabilities of the Game Boy Color system.
It also included a few minor changes with objects you come across, a photo gallery where each photo is unlocked if you fill certain criteria, and a secret dungeon where you need to arrange objects of different colors to complete it. In the end, you get to choose between two different powers.
Other than that, its basically the same game. If you liked the original, though, its definitely worth the buy. It relives the experience in a ...
Great storyline, challenging bosses and dungeons, sweet chemistry between Link and Marin...The bad:
Nothing I can fault it on!Summary:
This truely is a great Zelda game, one of my favourites! I am honoured to say, this was my first ever Zelda game. After a storm, Link is left stranded on the beautiful island of Koholint, his ship in ruins. He is found by a kind, caring woman by the name of Marin, who nurses Link back to health till he awakens. The dungeons are of the best design I have ever seen on a hand-held console, and the music is great! The characters are full of life and personality, from a magic-making witch, to a music loving bunny! Even the side-quests are full of great meaning, especially the poor Ghost you meet...
