Legend of Mana User Reviews
-Overall, the gameplay is a great deal of fun.
-The graphics are quite good for their style.
-Combat is simple to understand.
-With patience and practice, you can create equipment that kicks the crap out of anything else you'll find in the game.
-A fair number weapon types to choose from, and each type has a number of powerful special skills to spice up your battles. Throw in the many extra skills, and you've got a lot of variety.
-It's kind of easy to get immersed in the quests.
-You can catch Eggs, which hatch into monsters that you raise as Pets. Some maps also have unique pets that you can recruit if you've met certain requirements.
-You can make Golems, which function much like Pets do.
-The music is just... Oh, it's not easy to describe...
-Unlockable "Nightmare" and "No Future" modes, in case you want more of a challenge the second time around.
-Forging, Golemology, and Gardening are somewhat lacking in details, so you need to figure out certain things on your own.
-Learning new skills and special moves seems fairly random; even if you have all the required skills, it can take a while before you actually learn a new move.
-Good luck finding a regular Playstation and a copy of Legend of Mana.
-Hitboxes on some enemies are hard to determine, so you're pretty much guaranteed to miss at least one special technique.
-The AI of Pets, Golems, and NPC allies is a little lacking in the "intelligence" department.
-Some quests don't give you much information to go on (i.e, you have to find someone, but you're not given any hints about where they might be).
-Some maps are easy to get lost in.
-The story could use some work in some parts.
It's pretty easy to pick up the basics of the game. Most of the areas that are hard to understand (like Blacksmithing) are optional anyway. With practice, you'll be able to do pretty much anything.
The combat system is quite good: You have a "quick attack" (fast but weak), a "strong attack" (powerful, but somewhat slow and can leave your character frozen in place for a second or two), two skills (jumping, defending, dodging, etc.) that you can assign freely outside of battle, and up to four "Special Techniques" (weapon-specific "super moves" that have various strengths and r...
- Addictive battle system.
- Many quests, plots and sub plots to play
- Item making, Item hunting...
- Storyline are a bit loose
- Character dialogue
- Annoying menu
Okay. I write this review because some of the previous reviews pissed me off. I will go more into details.
- THE GOOD
- THE BAD
- AND WHY SHOULD I PLAY THIS GAME.
Onto the goodness
- Battle system is indeed different from secret of mana. We can use up to ten weapon, change it as we like, learn techiques for each ones. Or if we feel like frying those enemies with spell, no biggies. just buy a bunch of musical instrument for magic and here we go. better yet, making your own MI. Magic or weapon, we can have many ways to go through the obstacles....
One of the games of Square Soft's 2000 ''Summer of Adventure'', Legend of Mana is a significant departure from the usual RPG Square is famous for. Gone is a linear, centralized storyline--instead, the game plays out almost as a series of side-quests, some connected together, others standing alone. This approach has its good points and bad--it's easy to pick up Legend of Mana and play for a half hour or so, which I for one would be reluctant to do with a standard RPG, not knowing where the next save point may be. On the other hand, the independent chunks of storyline fail to resolve themselv...

This game relly boosted up my likings of the Play Station 1. When I first played it I thought it was a little dumb. When I got into it a little it was great! In my Good and Bad up top the Gameplay counts for about 3 of the mark. The characters take 1, Music takes .4 and Most Grapihic take .3. Most of you would be saying that the graphics suck. Look at your PS2 or Xbox than look at the PS1. Big difference in technoligy there. By saying the graphics are good I mean the graphics are good for the PS1. That no one can disagree on. On the bad side, the graphics took away .1 and the storyline took...
The game play, the weird story it had to it, the graphics, build up monsters, and makeing towns is fun...The bad:
errrr dunno, the fact that I used to play this game so much...Summary:
Legend of Mana, was a game that I rented over and over again til I got tired of playing it cause I did everything in it, things go to Building Golems and spray painting them to a color which you enjoy, and training your own monster, that was the cool parts, and I liked the feature of winning over new parts to yur map, like towns and caves, after you beat like a boss you get, I like how the characters looked in the game weither your a boy or a girl, you still looked cool, but I did'nt like the fact that you could change the weapon that you chose in the begining, I mean like how you could cha...
