Laser Invasion is an arcade shooter for the NES that supports both the LaserScope head-mounted light gun and NES Zapper gun peripherals, though players can also use standard NES controllers as well. The player character is a spec ops member tasked with going behind enemy lines to prevent the launch of a deadly new weapon.
The game has four missions, each encompassing three different kinds of gameplay. Each mission starts with a helicopter combat segment where the player guides their attack chopper in dogfights against enemy aircraft; the peripherals can be used to aim the gunsights. Successfully completing this then transports players to a light-gun shooting segment where they must shoot onscreen enemies while the screen automatically scrolls. The third style of gameplay is an exploration segment where players must explore an enemy base from first-person viewpoint. The goal is to collect intel and ammunition; the game will switch to a first-person shooting sequence should players encounter any opposition while sneaking around the bases.
