Kirby: Triple Deluxe follows Kirby on a strange adventure after discovering one morning that a giant beanstalk called the Dreamstalk has lifted Dream Land up into the sky; Kirby must travel through various lands to save his friends and return the world to normal.
It's a Nintendo 3DS exclusive game and is the 13th platform game in the Kirby video game series. It was developed by JAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo in 2014.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is a platform action game which stays true to the classic Kirby games; the player needs to control Kirby to reach an objective at the end of the stage by using Kirby's famous Copy Abilities. The Copy Ability allows Kirby to inhale enemies to copy their power, he can only have one power at once and these abilities allow him to get past obstacles and fight in different ways. Along with the Copy Ability, Kirby also has his other classic abilities: Star Spit, Floating, Slide Attack, Inhale and Air Bullet. This game gives Kirby 26 Copy Abilities, some of these abilities are new to the series.
Guarding has returned from the previous Kirby Super Star games and a new dodge move can be performed while he is guarding; he can also dodge will guarding in mid-air.
Kirby will lose a life when he runs out of health or if he falls into a bottomless pit; running out of lives causes a game over. Invincibility Candy and 1UPs return to provide Kirby with boosts and more life, there are also Assist Stars which can be used to restore some health to Kirby. Another way to regenerate health is to collect the stars featured in every level, collecting 100 if these will award 1 extra life to the player; the stars are worth different amounts depending on their color.
There is a bonus game at the end of each level that awards stars and recovery items; it also awards collectibles which provide bonuses.
The game makes use of the 3D technology by having Kirby, enemies, obstacles and projectiles moving towards and away from the screen; Kirby is also able to hurt enemies in the background and be hurt by attacks from the background. The motion controls in the 3DS are also utilized as tilting the 3DS will affect the game at certain point by moving Kirby or removing obstacles.
Once the main game has been completed, Dededetour mode unlocks which allows the player to replay the main game as the character King Dedede; the main game takes around 10 hours to complete. Along with this there are two new gamemodes also; Kirby Fighters and Dedede's Drum Dash. Kirby Fighters pits the player in a battle against other Kirby's in various arenas, the player can choose a Copy Ability to use in the arena. The Dedede's Drum Dash mode is a rhythm game that puts the player in control of King Dedede as he plays the drums to the beat of classic Kirby songs to collect coins.
