A massive improvement – for better or for worse

Summary:

After the somewhat more experimental affectations of Chain Of Memories, Square-Enix had found themselves back to the drawing board in regards to how they'll really follow up the first Kingdom Hearts game. Do they dare to make things bigger and badder with more explosions, or do they simply quote themselves? Personally, I'd not bother and just try something new, but Square-Enix don't like the idea of trying something new – coming up with new ideas is hard work! So what they'd decided to do was make Kingdom Hearts bigger and better than ever, with a more involving storyline and more intense c...

The curious case of Kingdom Hearts 2

Summary:

Kingdom Hearts 2 is both an exciting showcase of excellence and kind of an obnoxious bore for reasons far too numerous to itemize. A lot of it is in Square-Enix's attempt to top the first Kingdom Hearts game while sort of tying Chain Of Memories' story into a sequel for the PS2. The first game was a fun, fun dive into a series of Disney worlds with the story being tied rather well into them. The problem was that it never had the best handling in the world, though it was complimented by the grounded enemies never being too fast (for the most part, at least), so it could've been worse. Chain ...

A wonderful RPG. Definitely a must-have for Final Fantasy and Disney fans!

The good:

Amazing worlds and characters from both franchises
Battle system is much easier to use
Camera is finally fixed
Music matches every world to a T
All-star voice cast

The bad:

No replay value
Some of the bosses are very challenging
The story starts off too slow and sluggish
Game seems too short

Summary:

Kingdom Hearts II is one of the best RPGs I've ever played hands down. It deserves all the hype and recognition it gets. The story is absolutely amazing, the characters are unforgettable, and the battle system is a vast improvement over the first game. There are some new worlds and some old ones. The new worlds are based off of quite amazing Disney classics such as Mulan and The Lion King. Which is definitely wonderful for me since I'm a big, longtime Disney fan. There are also various characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. Some will be your allies and some will be your enemies. The b...

What happens when Elton John comes up to Square and whacks them with a sack of money

Summary:

While the first Kingdom Hearts was one of my favorite games growing up, Kingdom Hearts 2 is in a bit of an odd place for me and has always been. It was one of those games that kept me glued to the TV both when I bought it and for this playthrough, but it wasn't because I loved it or anything. It felt like it was because I was looking for things to love about it. There are things that I liked here and there, but overall, it's a playable game in an excellent game's clothing. If you don't know what that means, basically, it means a company shot a lot higher than its actual capabilities allow i...

Cinematics... and more cinematics!

Summary:

Kingdom Hearts 2 was one of the most hyped up games on the PS2. After a fun yet flawed first game and a tedious beyond belief half-sequel, Square managed to churn out another Kingdom Hearts game. Hoping to add some minty fresh sensation to the gamer, the formula is, once again, tweaked a bit, and once again, not for a good reason. It focuses more in cinematics, which is what I thought Square would’ve been beyond. I guess not. I guess they have to keep up with the current trends... this is horsecrap! It still retains some fun, but not at the same level I expected. Once again, it’s the soundt...

Kingdom Hearts II : Review..

The bad:

Though many people had trouble with the almighty Sephiroth, they could only fight him ONCE in this game, rather than countless times in the first release. The makers also put a MUSICAL WORLD in the game, this had NOTHING to do with the damn game, also, there are MANY other worlds that had nothing to do with the storyline. Let's just say that these worlds are rather to be FILLERS.

Summary:

This story does have the original characters from all Kingdom Hearts releases, you got your Sora, Donald, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Leon (Squall), and there are many more. This time they put in NEW bad guys (well you would know who they are if you bought Chain of Memories) that is there to take over Kingdom Hearts, like Ansem in KH1. New Keyblades were also put into the game, and they also took some old ones out. They added a new thing in this game, called 'forms', there are FOUR different types you can pick from, well five if you count the form call 'Anti Form' that can not do anything but ATT...
