Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy HD User Reviews

Eco Controller

The good:

1. Voice acting
2. Level design
3. The Eco's different effects

The bad:

1. Scout Flies
2. The Zoomer
3. Mostly everything is repetitive

Summary:

So, I am reviewing my favorite PS2 game of all time, Jak and Daxter.

Gameplay: The main aspect of this game is to collect all of the Power Cells scattered across the levels. Some may be obtained through sidequests, reaching the end of a level, or just defeating a certain number of enemies. Another one, (which I am not too fond of) you must collect seven Scout Flies that are are also in every level, including the hub worlds. They can be difficult to get when on a Zoomer, (a motorbike used to travel across lava, or fire) because you have to be precise when you ram into it, or you might miss it...

So Rodney Dangerfield and Warner Brothers make a game...

Summary:

Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is not only a precursor to the excellence that is Jak 3, but also a reminder that platformers can still be relevant even on a new system. Well, Silent Hill 2, Onimusha and Resident Evil: Code Veronica were praised and they used archaic tank controls, why can't Naughty Dog make a 3D platformer that's like Banjo Kazooie? Better yet, Naughty Dog made a 3D platformer, but with mostly seamless transitions between levels almost like a sandbox game ala Grand Theft Auto 3, which is very much the opposite of the overly linear Crash Bandicoot series. Being the tai...

Naughty Dog's Next Big Achievement

The good:

-Amazing graphics
-Excellent sound
-Lots of exploration
-Tons of challenges
-Very addicting

The bad:

-Sometimes annoying controls
-Not a lot of extras (but the challenges make up for it)
-Can get frustrating for first-timers
-Stupid health system

Summary:

I've gotta say, I was far from disappointed with this amazing game. There is just so much about this game that I just loved, and you should feel the same.

Graphics: 9.6 -- I've always been amazed at what Naughty Dog is capable of, but who isn't? For starters, the character models are nicely detailed, especially for the release date, even with a few minor problems (like smeared-looking faces). The running animations look weird, but the rest is gold. But that's nothing compared to the environments. I can't believe how much detail was put into everything from the mountainous structures to ...

A Good Enough Attempt At Something New

The good:

Everything other than the length of the game...

The bad:

It's shorter than a compressed atom. Well, okay it's not quite that short, but still...

Summary:

The Graphics are of a high quality, and the loading times have thankfully been kept as short as is humanly possible with this game. Think of the Gameplay as being about 30% Crash Bandicoot, 30% Spyro The Dragon, 30% The Legend Of Zelda and 10% Super Mario 64.

The Storyline begins thus. Jak has been advised by his old friend Samos the Sage not to visit the mysterious "Misty Island", about half a mile or so off the coast of Sandover Village, Jak's home-town.

So Jak, our Link-like main Character, and his best mate Daxter head off to Misty Island, completely ignoring the green old geezer. Once th...

Jak and Daxter

The good:

- Large environment
- Loading times are fast
- Beautiful looking game
- Fun for everyone
- Eco system

The bad:

- Too traditional "save-the-world" theme
- Camera gets on your nerves

Summary:

There isn't much to say about Jak and Daxter except its just like your average adventure/family RPG type game. There is the hero, Jak, and the sidekick, Daxter. They're on a journey to basically save the world, and they are two unlikely heroes to do it, and blah. Like I said, its basically really traditional and it can be a really bad thing at times because most gamers are looking for something different, when they only get the same thing most of the time, so that is really a bad thing about it.

But don't let that stop you from getting it unless you already to, because its still a fun game. ...
