Exact Product Searches - finding that elusive product
The editors at Neoseeker try to include as many permutations of a product name as possible, but in spite of this you may or may not enter the correct name for a product. If you cannot find the product you are after, try shortening the word and removing symbols such as hyphens, or perhaps try adding hyphens and spaces. If you are looking for the Benwin EX-4, try typing in EX4 or EX-4, or even EX 4.
If all this fails, switch to a company search, and go into the company's product portfolio to see if we have that product catalogued.
We are greatly interested in receiving email regarding products we don't have catalogued. There is so much happening in the computer world that we often miss out on products that you may want to know about.
Dealing with too many matches
If you are finding that you get too many results in your search, try some of these ideas:
-
use more words
- - the more words, the more strict the search.
- anchor keyword(s)
- - if you know that your word is at the begining or end of other words, try anchoring them with the "^" to prevent finding every word that contains your keyword.
- case sensitivity
- - looking for a game? try typing one of the words with a capitalized first letter. This should cut down on all the "noise" words that are similar to the game's name.
Increasing matches
Not surprisingly, the methods for increasing the matches returned are basically the "opposite" of the methods that would normally cut down the number of match returned.
-
generalize
- - rather than trying to find "heatsink and fans for video cards", try a more generic term like "video card coolers".
- include optional words
- - by using the reserved word "OR", you can add many words to your query without worrying about being too strict.
- use shorter words
- - the easiest and fastest way to make sure you find all the relevant records. Looking for coolers? Try the word "cooler" instead. Looking for "cooler" will find cooler AND coolers, but looking for "coolers" will ignore cooler. Still not enough results? Try "cool" instead.
