Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life was the very first Harvest Moon game that I ever played. Not only was I new to the series but I was stunned on how fun a game, completely based around farming and the life in a valley, could be. With the way the music matched the game's surroundings so well and how good the graphics were I was instantly addicted and sucked into playing the game.
There are a few features in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life that separates it from other Harvest Moon games making it easier or harder then these others. Unlike many other Harvest Moon games in this game the farm has be...
+Nice little aging system
+Unlike in other harvest moon games, you don't have to pay 5 trillion gold and have 8 million pieces of wood to fully upgrade your farm
-The ease of upgrade presents too little a challenge.
-The days start to drag on.
-Little marriage choice.
-Where are the shops?
Needless to say a farming game may seem out of place in this day and age, but that doesn't mean it's not entertaining. A great game when you need to mellow out after beating a Mr. 5 trillion hp, kill you in 2 hits boss that you may find in whatever other genre there is that you own. While there are positives, this game is a double-sided coin, so let's get started.
This game is nice and long (7 years if I recall correctly), so there should be no issue of "OMG, it's only a 2 hour game." A bonus to the length is the aging system implemented, so you aren't talking to the same sprites all game lo...
New people and village
Three very different brides to choose from
A few annoying glitches
When you die at the end it doesn't seem like anybody cares
I first played my copy of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for seven hours straight for it is that addictive. This Harvest Moon takes a really long time to finish so it should be worth your money. The game time relates to real time in an interesting way. Every game minute is equal to a real life second. Every game hour is equal to a real life minute. But don't worry, you play for over ten game years with forty days in each year. There are new people and a new village to explore also. You life in Forget Me Not Valley which always has something to do. There are plenty of interesting villagers t...
Well, I'm trying to think of the good point in the entire games. The graphics were completely top notch work. They really did a good job with them and the new design on your character Jack the farmer. The new characters such as the three bachelorettes and other added villages were quite creative.
The layout of the town was very neat. also the layout of your own farm is nice too. The added amusements that you have to add fertilizer to your crops so they are better quality and having to water them about three times a day give it that realistic feelings to the game. Having more animals such as different type of cows, a goat, ducks and so on give it more realism too, also adds more fun.
Though you don't get to upgrade your farm such as the house or barn yourself, you do get the added extras of ordering two rooms, (the processing room & Milking Room) and seed maker, which makes some chores on your farm a little more easier.
Oh dear, I guess there are to be more bad points for this game than good points. ^^;; Well, first off, the fact you only had a choice of three bachelorettes...and to be honest, none of them were any good. It didn't seem like you had to do much to get them to like you either really. It wasn't a challenge. The whole town was quite small, there was hardly anything to do around the town, which is one of the reasons I began to get bored of the game.
The farm wasn't much of a challenge either, it was quite easy. You couldn't upgrade your house, it upgraded itself after a few chapters, which is disappointing to see. Also that you couldn't upgrade anything else on your farm such as your barn or chicken coop.
There was hardly any festivals or events in the game what so ever. In the older Harvest Moons, there was at least 12 festivals that you could participate in, with this, there was hardly anything that made the town, villagers or game in general anymore interesting.
In all honesty, this had to be one of the worst Harvest Moon games I've played in my opinion. Comparing them some of the older and some of the newer games that are to come out, I feel the only thing the company relied on in this game was just the graphics. Nothing more...which is a huge disappointment on it's behalf.
The only good point about this game really was the graphics. They were very impressive work, very detailed and smoothly running. some of the characters were quite nice and charming...though there just really wasn't much to the whole farm, town and game. -__- My rating for the g...
*addicting, gives you something to do in the long summer months
*watch your son grow up
*some of the of the movies are pretty humorous
*you can see the aging process at work
*would it kill them for voice overs?
*too many glitchs
over all this is one of the most addicting games i've played since halo 2. it was a lot better than i was expecting. first of all how often do you see yourself saying "hey! i think i want to play a game about farming!" well after playing any of the harvest moon games you'll find your self saying that at least once.
the controls are very easy to get used to. the same goes for gameplay and the daily routine. the amount of girls you could marry was sort of dissapoiting compared to other harvest moon games but maybe thats just me. the town was waaaaaay to samll but you kinda have to work with th...
The game is sorta based on reality.Farm grow crops care for animals. This game could help you in the future with a farming career. The time on the game is sorta like the sims but thats acceptable.Get married start a family have a baby boy and name him whatever you want.Explore the town and do whatever you want each day.Get a horse and right it riding it will move you around the village faster.Get farming tools too help you out with farming each day too get all tools buy them from the ledger and get them from villagers.Make all sorts of good foods with ingredients. The graphics are good. The bad:
The village is small. There are some glitches in the game.It can get boring after awhile. This is all I think is bad about the game.Summary:
If you like games with romance, reality, and farming pick this game up.The graphics are very well the cats on the game almost look like cats in real life.Making money in the game. The game is a little hard too find these days but dont worry they still have some left its also pretty cheap as well check on ebay too find the game.If you have a Gameboy Advance and a harvest moon game called friends of mineral town you can leave fprget me not valley too do funner things.Just like in real life if you dont sleep in the game or forget too eat your character becomes sorta miserable and tired.I give thi...
