Hello and welcome! I started this faq more than a year ago...I didn't realize
how long it's been until I saw the trailer for the Goblet of Fire game. I
finished this faq months ago, but I was kind of lazy sending it out to the US
Copyright office. I didn't mail it out until October 31st, 2005. So, if
anyone out there is still playing this game, I hope this faq will be of some
use. :) So many things have happened since my last faq. My sister, my
proof reader, has been deployed to Iraq, so I don't know if I will be able to
write the next faq...or at least write one that's comprehensible!! She got
a huge migraine just reading this one. She had a few laughs, though. Well,
best wishes to all! If you would like to send me a message, you can either
email me, or LEAVE ME A COMMENT ON XANGA!! :) www.xanga.com. My User ID
is sueunyin.

This is the third Harry Potter FAQ I have written. My other works include
"Wizard Card FAQ for Chamber of Secrets (for PS2)" and a "Complete Walkthrough
For Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (for PS2)".

Originally, this faq was for PS2 only, because at the time I only had a PS2.
Last year my sister's Army Reserve unit was mobilized and was getting deployed
to Iraq. As her farewell present she bought me an Xbox, a more pricy gift
she would usually get me because...hey, you never know what's going to happen
you've been deployed. Anyway, luckily for her she DIDN'T get deployed
afterall. And as for me??? Haha, her farewell present was for nothing~~ She
still threatens to take away my Xbox and give it back to me when she's really
getting deployed.

Xbox is cool, but I only have like...one or two games on Xbox. I thought it
would interesting to compare the two Harry Potter games--one on PS2 and one
Xbox, since the previous games had some variations. So now I have one Prisoner
of Azkaban on PS2 and one on Xbox, and you know what the difference is between
them? NOTHING!! Just the buttons are different. So it wouldn't make any
sense if this faq was written just for PS2 if the game was identical for all
systems (PS2, GC, Xbox). Well...I didn't play the GC version yet but I'm
pretty sure it's the same. Okay, let's talk more about the game~

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite among the other HP games. I really like the
character swap feature. Now Harry's not so alone on his missions and/or
challenges. However, having more companions can be a bit of a drag. If you
are idle too long they start complaining. EA games divided Harry's abilities
(from previous games) among the two other characters, Ron and Hermione.
Before, Harry had the combined abilities of his teammates, such as searching,
crawling, and using Dungbombs/Stink Pellets. Also in this game, only certain
characters can equip certain spells.

Left Analog Joystick Use this to run, walk and sneak. Push the
                              joystick forward (left/right/up/down) all the way
                              to make Harry run. Pushing the joystick halfway
                              will make Harry move at a walking pace. Slightly
                              pushing the joystick will allow Harry to sneak or
                              tiptoe about. When Harry has his back pushed up
                              against a bookshelf/wall, push left or right on
                              the joystick to make Harry shuffle left/right.
                              Push the "X" button.

Right Analog Joystick Use the right analog joystick to change or adjust
                              the camera angle.

"X" Button Action button. The "X" button cannot be used for
                              spells. This button is used for every other
                              actions, such as talking, climbing, grabbing,
                              pulling, searching, throwing and END DAY.

Square Button Used to equip and use spells.

Triangle Button Used to equip and use spells.

"O" (Circle) Button           Character swap

R1 Button Used for target locking, and switching targets.
                              By holding down the R1 button, Harry can dodge
                              attacks by pushing "X" along with the direction
                              he is dodging to (on the left analog joystick).
                              Pushing "X" alone while holding the R1 button
                              will allow Harry to dodge by ducking down.

R2 Button Used to scroll through game menu.

L1 Button Used to call companions.

L2 Button Bird's eye view / Character's view. Used to
                              scroll through game menu.

"SELECT" Button This button accesses the menu. In the menu
                              screen, use the L2/R2 buttons to switch
                              sections. Push the "SELECT" button to exit.

"START" Button Use this button to pause, save, access the
                              Options Menu, and quit game to main menu.

Jumping Harry jumps automatically when he runs off a
                              ledge or platform. (Harry is the only character
                              capable of jumping).

Climbing Push forward on an object such as a block or a
                              higher platform and Harry, Ron, or Hermione will
                              automatically climb up. Harry can also climb
                              ropes or ladders.

Hang/Drop If Harry, Ron, or Hermione are pushed off or
                              walks off a ledge, they will fall down and hang
                              on to the ledge. To climb back up, push up on
                              the left analog joystick. To drop, but the "X"
                              button. If you are too high up, then you will
                              not be able to drop down. Don't bother trying to
                              jump off either, because that will only cause the
                              character to lose health.

Stamina/Health On the game screen, your stamina/health
                              Gauge (green) is located on the bottom right hand
                              hand corner of screen around the character icon.
                              When a character's endurance increases, their
                              stamina/health will increase and will be
                              displayed in red.

Options Menu Push the start button during the game to access
(Start button) the game menu. You can access this menu at any
                              time to save game, change flying controls,
                              adjust the screen, vibration options, and
                              disable or enable subtitles.

Menu                                           -INVENTORY-
                              This screen shows the spells and items the
                              characters can equip.

                                                -Tasks-
                              Current tasks and recently completed tasks are
                              displayed on this screen. Once you've completed

CHECKLIST

_____1. Help Ron search for Scabbers.
_____2. Duel against Slytherins.
_____3. Escape from the Dementors.

<*> Harry, Ron and Hermione are on their way to school on the Hogwarts Express.
    Ron brings up how Sirius Black killed thirteen people with one curse twelve
    years ago. Harry doesn't seem at all interested with the topic. Suddenly,
    Crookshanks lunges at Scabbers, Ron's pet rat, and chases it out the
    compartment and down corridor. Ron argues with Hermione but she tells him
    to pipe down and not disturb their new Defense Against the Dark Arts
    teacher, Professor Lupin, who is sleeping peacefully near the window.

    Ron gets up to look for Scabbers and Harry offers to help in the search.

                       **HELP RON SEARCH FOR SCABBERS**

Playing as:  H A R R Y
            ===========

You gain control of Harry when he leaves the train compartment. The adjacent
compartments are vacant and empty so there's no need to explore them. Follow
Ron down the corridor and into the next room.

<*> Ron rummages through the room for Scabbers and accidentally sets off a
    Monster Book of Monsters.

From a distance, target lock the book using the R1 button and cast Flipendo
(Square button) at it until it flops to the ground. (Ron does a body slam on
it to make sure it's down for the count.) A trunk blocks the door to the next
room and it is too heavy for one person to move. You will have to help Ron
lift the trunk and move it out of the way. So, grab the other end of the trunk
and push the "X" button (action button)to lift it up, then use the left analog
joystick to move it away from the door. Push the "X" button again to drop
the trunk. Destroy the crate next to the door to get a Chocolate Frog, then
exit to the next room.

<*> Apparently, Scabbers has found his way into the clutches of Draco Malfoy
    and his goons, and they will not hand over Scabbers peacefully...of course.

                              ===============

                        **DUEL AGAINST SLYTHERINS**

Like with the monster book, target lock one of the Slytherins and blast away
with Flipendo. You might need to adjust where you're standing to get a better
shot since the tables and chairs can get in the way. If someone casts a spell,
jinx or hex at you, just avoid it by moving from side to side, or hold down the
"X" to duck or dodge out of the way. (To dodge away, you have to hold down the
"X" button then push in the direction in which you want to dodge to.) If an
orange spell hits Harry, his head will turn into a pumpkin and he will be
disabled, but only for a few seconds. Once Crabbe and Goyle are knocked out,
just walk up to Malfoy and hit the Square button repeatedly to finish him off.

*Note that Malfoy is using the Expelliarmus spell to block some of the spells.*

<*> Malfoy and his goons exit the room and disgust. Just as Harry and Ron are
    about to return to their compartment the train suddenly stops. Time to
    investigate what's going on.

After taking a few steps forward, Harry will begin to lose consciousness.
Muffled screams can be heard.

<*> The room suddenly seems to be caught in a blizzard, and a dark, hooded

Playing as:  R O N
            =======

You will have to play as Ron and help Harry to safety...in other words, away
from the ominous, black hooded figure.

The train corridors are filled with clutter and debris. Try not to get caught
in a corner or the hooded figure will try to suck you in.

There are no obstacles blocking your way in the first section, so just push
down all the way on the left analog joystick. Shortly after entering the
second area, the hooded figure will attack. (It will try to suck Harry and
Ron in.) To resist getting pulled in, just rotate the left analog joystick
until you break free, then continue towards the exit.

<*> Help has finally arrived! Lupin comes in screaming that Sirius Black
    is not on the train. A light flashes and everything returns back to
    normal. Harry is conscious again. Lupin offers a Chocolate Frog to
    Harry and explains what the hooded figures were--Dementors. He then gives
    him a book (Folio Bruti) that is stored into your inventory.

To view the Folio Bruti, push the SELECT button and to access the Game Menu.
The book is located at the bottom right corner of the Menu. Select the Folio
Bruti and push "X" to view the book. As of right now you have only
one Folio Bruti information--Dementor.

Ron wants to show off their new book to Hermione, but before you head down
stairs, open the maroon colored [TB] marked "H.P." to receive a QUIDDITCH
CARD (#1, Cyprian Youdle). **NOTE** This [TB] can only be opened by Harry.
When you're finished go down to the common room.

<*> Hermione is too busy for her two friends at the moment; however, she gives
    them some friendly advice before she resumes ignoring them. She points out
    that things would have been much easier if they used the Expelliarmus spell
    during their little duel against Draco and his goons. Harry walks up to
    the Expelliarmus spell book and reviews the book. This spell can now be
    equipped from the menu.

There's a notice board in the common room. Students will post notices for lost
items here. When you find a lost item, return it to the notice board to
receive a reward.

             **PRACTICE EXPELLIARMUS WITH RON ON THE SEVENTH FLOOR**

It's time to put you're newly acquired spell to practice. Exit the Gryffindor
Tower to the seventh floor to begin the practice session.

Ron will be practicing the Expelliarmus spell first, so cast a Flipendo spell
at him.

<*> Ron successfully casts an Expelliarmus spell and Harry is knocked down
    by his own spell.

Okay, now it's Harry's turn to practice blocking. Make sure you have
the Expelliarmus spell equipped. Ron will cast a Flipendo spell at Harry.

When the spell is just about to hit Harry, cast the Expelliarmus spell to
send the Flipendo back at Ron.

After the brief practice session, Ron suggests that they go visit Fred and
George.

              **GO TO SEE FRED AND GEORGE ON THE SIXTH FLOOR**

Go through the door marked "Seventh Floor Corridor". Keep on going until
you reach a portrait of a knight. Say hello to Sir Cadogan. Exit the
seventh floor to the Grand Staircase.

The floors are as follows:

      * First floor:       "Transfiguration"
      * Second floor:      "Charms"
      * Third floor: "Defense Against the Dark Arts"
      * Fourth floor: "History of Magic"
      * Fifth floor:       "Muggle Studies"
      * Sixth floor:       "Ancient Runes"
      * Seventh floor: "Arithmancy and Gryffindor Tower"

(Right now everything below the sixth floor is closed off, so you'll just have
to save your exploring for later ^^)

Go through the door marked "Sixth Floor (Ancient Runes)".

You are greeted by Peeves the Poltergeist. He throws a Monster Book of
Monsters at Ron that knocks him unconscious. Harry will have to take out this
monster book by himself.

This monster book must have swallowed a ton of wizard crackers. It's best if
you keep your distance from this psycho book. Sparks will fly from its mouth
followed by what looks like a Flipendo spell. Cast Expelliarmus when you see
this spell coming at Harry. After a few successful blocked shots the monster
book will be defeated.

Search the room for a [TB] with a QUIDDITCH CARD (#2, Joscelind Wadcock).
Break the crate blocking the door to get a Chocolate Frog. (You'll have to
knock it out before eating it.) Go through the door marked "Glanmore Peakes'
Corridor".

There's a puddle of water to your immediate right, but you can't do anything
with it yet so just ignore it for now. The treasure box across the puddle is
also locked don't bother with it. Take a few steps further down the room
and some books will fly off the bookshelves towards Harry and Ron. Target lock
the books and cast Flipendo to destroy them.

At the end of the room is a door leading to the East Wing and a door marked
"Disused Bathroom (Fred and George)". If you walk around the wall next to
the bookshelf, the "X" button will change to "Try". There's nothing you can do
right now, so ignore it for now. Go inside the bathroom.

Fred and George reveals to Harry and Ron that there is a secret passage in the
bathroom that leads to the Marauder's Map. Now it's just up to them to find
it. (Don't forget to search the bookshelves and robes for goodies.)

It's time to seek out the Marauder's Map. Go down the secret passage and
there will be a cut scene.

<*> Harry and Ron sees the map at the top of an obelisk.

Look around this area. There is a gate with two handle bars, but it is still
too heavy for both of them to lift. There's two doors, but only one can be
opened. Go through the unlocked door to the next area.

There is a [TB] towards the center of the room; however, the floor begins to
collapse when you approach it.

get the Challenge Shield (#1). Go all the way to the end until you reach the
button in the wall. Push the button by pressing "X" (action button). You'll
hear a ticking sound and the music becomes more suspenseful...

Have Harry push his back against the wall and shuffle across to the left where
you'll find another button. Now shuffle back and jump across to the right and
push the final button. This unlocks the door next to Ron and unleashes several
Pixies.

<*> The Pixies lift Ron into the air while laughing maniacally.

Target lock and blast away the Pixies by casting Flipendo spells. Jump across
the platforms back to the hovering Ron and finish off the last Pixie. Exit the
room to the area that just opened up with several beans.

another door.

In the next area there is a trunk in the center of the room. It will take
the strength of both of them to lift it. Have Harry pick up one end of the
trunk then CHARACTER SWAP to Ron and pick up the other end. This causes light
to shine onto the mirrors.

flying), push and hold the "O" button, otherwise Hedwig will just hover around.
Fly through the opening (northwest direction) to where the map is. Fly through
the glowing map and Hedwig will automatically grab onto it with her claws. Fly
back to Harry and the map is yours.

A Challenge Shield (#4) appears by the portrait door/entrance. Collect it then
talk to the potrait. Now that you have the Marauder's Map, it reveals all the
secret passageways and passwords for portrait entrances at Hogwarts. Say the
password and continue into the next room.

There are statues on the lookout here, so avoid stepping into their scanning
zone. You should be fine if you stick next to the walls. You will need to
press a button at the upper left corner of the room that unlocks the door to
the next area.

The room ahead gets a little trickier.

  ~~~'s     Entire scanning zone of Statue Guards.
  [TB]      Treasure Box.  (All contains Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans).
**NOTE**
The guards are also marked on you map.
Collect the Challenge Shield (#5) and sneak past the first guard when he
scans the other way.  There is a [TB] next to the first guard, but it only
contains beans.  Continue down the hall until you reach the second guard.
The only way to get across this statue is to shuffle along the bookshelves.
Once you're past him, continue down the hall and turn left to where the third
and final guard is.  There is a nook in the center of the guard's scanning
zone.  Hide in this spot and wait for the guard to scan across, then dash the
heck out of there.  There are two [TB] in the open area near the last guard,
but it's just a few pathetic beans.  Go up and exit this area.
Okay, this is last the last room for this challenge.  The room is very small
with four Statue Guards scanning the area, and to make things worse, Professor
Snape is also prowling this room...right by the exit.
Go clockwise and avoid the first Guard.  The second and third Guards are set
close together on opposite walls.  You shouldn't be detected if you have Harry
shuffle along the wall.  Once past the second guard, make sure the coast is
clear then run to the opposite wall (across the third guard) and just stay
there until the third Guard looks away.
The fourth Guard is easy to sneak by.  Shuffle along the wall, but don't
run for the exit just yet.  Make sure Snape is away from the door and has his
back against you before making a run to the exit.  If you get caught you'll
have to start from the beginning of this room.  (Snape doesn't say anything
when he catches you, but he starts coughing a hairball or something...he
sounds more like Filch's character, huh?)
<*> Ron and his twin brother are waiting to greet Harry on the other side.
    Fred and George tells Harry to visit their shop before leaving.
The Remembrall icon appears which usually means you should take a look at your
task list.  Push the SELECT button to view your task list.  If all tasks have
been completed the END DAY option appears.
***SPECIAL NOTE***
Before ENDING DAY, search along the wall across the DISUSED BATHROOM (next to
the EAST WING in Glanmore Peakes' Corridor.  Use Ron to open the secret passage
to find a [TB] with a GIANT CARD (#1, Bran the Bloodthirsty).
Press "X" in the Tasks Menu (SELECT BUTTON) to END DAY.
room to meet up with Harry and Ron.
***NOTE***
There's a bookshelf next to the girl's dormitory.  Use Ron to push the
bookshelf to find a [TB] with FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Troll.
<*> When you leave Gryffindor Tower to the seventh floor, Ron brings up that
    he's worried about Scabbers because he has been acting strange ever since
    they arrived at Hogwarts.
Go to the seventh floor corridor and search the bookshelf across Sir Cadogan's
portrait.  You can use Ron to open a secret passage by pushing this bookshelf.
There's a shortcut to the fourth floor and a [TB] with FOLIO BRUTI PAGE
(dragonfly).
Exit to the Grand Staircase and descend the stairs.  There is a Prefect on the
sixth floor.  If you talk to him he will tell you that Dumbledore has asked him
to stand guard to make sure no one's sneaking around.  All the other floors
are closed off.  If you try to open them you'll get yelled at by that
cheerful Prefect.  Well, you can't go exploring the castle yet, so head for
the third floor.
You can search the bookshelves with Ron to collect beans.  Once you're done
go through the door marked "Gunhilda of Gorsemoor Corridor".  The Defense
Against the Dark Arts classroom is just ahead.  Enter the classroom.
<*>  Right away, Professor Lupin asks Harry, Ron and Hermione to retrieve
     the Glacius spell book from within the challenge.
Follow the steps all the way down until you reach a cut scene.  Some Pixies
are running around and take flight when they see you coming.  Start blasting
away until they disappear.  There's a button on the ground that lowers the
two gates nearby.  You will need to the entire team to lift up the heavy, black
pot and drop it onto the button to permanently lower the two gates.
Go up the steps and through archway (where the gates were).  There's a [TB]
with a CLASSICAL BEAST card (#4, Mountain Troll) by the wall near the two
archways.  Continue down the path and you meet two groups of Pixies.  When
you reach the end of a path there will be another cut scene.
The camera gives you a glimpse of the area...more mirrors.  Find a button on
the wall to the right.  Pushing it will let in a beam of light from above.
Play as:  H A R R Y
         ===========
Have Harry climb up to the last mirror that touches the light.  Step on the
mirror and rotate it clockwise two turns to reflect the light source onto
another mirror.  Let go of the mirror and jump across to the next mirror just
in front of you.  Rotate this mirror counter-clockwise so that the light is
reflected onto the last mirror.  Jump across to the final mirror and rotate it
clockwise two turns.  The light hits a star symbol on the wall and the stone
door below is raised so that Harry can pass.
Jump across the platform and go through the new opening.  A Challenge Shield
(#6) is just ahead.  When you almost reach the Challenge Shied, the concrete
slab will drop down and shut Harry in this new area.  No more Character Swap
for the time being.
Go down the path to find a group of Pixies.  Take them out with Flipendo while
dodging their attacks.
There are several platforms in this room, and you will have to jump from
platform to platform to reach the exit; however there are huge gaps in between
and Harry won't be able to jump across these large gaps without some help.
Search for something that looks like a mechanical wheel.  (There is a flashing
red circle on this device.)  Target lock the wheel and cast Flipendo at it
until it locks into place.  This will raise a portion of the ground to cover up
the large gap in between the other platforms.  Now, climb onto the lowest
platform and jump from one platform to the other to make your way around the
room.  You'll eventually end up next to another mechanical wheel.  Hit it
repeatedly until it locks into place to raise another stone slab.  Three more
jumps and you're out of there.
Run down the path which will lead you back to the room where Hermione and Ron
are waiting.  Oh, look! Another mechanical wheel.  Hit it until it locks
into place.  This will open a passageway on the floor below, across from Harry.
Drop down to where Hermione and Ron are and go through the new passageway then
through the door.
Here's the room in bird's eye perspective.
     two Salamanders in front of him and they don't seem happy about his
     surprise entrance.
Two Flipendos on each Salamder should do the trick.  Continue down the path and
you'll end up in the room with the mirrors again.  Look for a mechanical wheel.
Target lock and Flipendo this device.
<*> The device is faulty and barely opens the door across from Ron.  Several
    Pixies come flying out from the crack underneath the door laughing their
    heads off at Ron.  They grab a hold of Ron and lifts him into the air.
Push the ice block to where the "*" is marked on the diagram.  Climb onto the
block then onto the platform above.  There will be two more ice blocks here
and a switch.  You'll need to rearrange the block so that one of them is on
top of the switch.
                                Block 2
There are two [TB]'s with beans on a higher platform to the back of the room.
To push the block onto the switch WITHOUT collecting the beans from the [TB]'s.
===============================================================================
1.  PUSH Block 2 right, then up.  (It should be right next to the switch (@).)
2.  PUSH Block 1 up, then right so that it lands right on the button.
                            <=====OPTIONAL=====>
To get to the [TB]'s:
=====================
1.  PUSH Block 1 up.
2.  PUSH Block 2 right, up, then left.  The two blocks should be right next
    to each other.
3.  PUSH Block 2 up (in the direction of the [TB]'s.
4.  GRAB onto Block 2 and push it against the wall.
5.  Climb on the block onto the platform to get the [TB]'s.
To push the block onto the switch AFTER getting the beans from the [TB]'s:
==========================================================================
1.  Return to Block 1 and PUSH it to the right so that it lands past the
    switch (@).
2.  GRAB Block 2 and pull it away from the wall (with the [TB]'s).  Pull
    the block back onto the icy surface.
3.  PUSH Block 2 down then to the right.  It should land right on top
    of the switch (@).
                            <==================>
Once the switch has been activated, the tall Ice Block will sink into the
ground.
Drop back down to the first floor to the area where the large ice block was.
                              ---------------
FOLLOWING THIS DIAGRAM, push the ice block right, down, left, and up.
(Anywhere marked with "*'s" are okay, too. )  Climb on the ice block then onto
the platform above.  There's a [TB] with a WITCH CARD (#1, Morgan le Fay) to
the left.  After collecting the card, head right, towards the spell book room.
Drop down and get the spell book.
<*>  The room becomes an inferno after the book has been removed.  Hermione
     is now trapped in the middle of a lava pool.
Search the wall for a platform.  You will need to use Glacius to freeze the
lava so that you can walk to this platform.  Make sure the spell is equipped
and stand directly in front of the platform.  Cast the Glacius spell by
pressing and holding down the spell button.  Use the left analog joystick to
spread the ice all the way down to the platform.  Quickly make your way across,
climb onto the platform then back onto the main floor.
WATCH OUT.  There are several torches in this room, and they aren't for
decoration.  You'll have to target lock them at a pretty close range for the
Glacius spell to take any effect on them.  If you hesitate too long they will
burn you.  It'll be easier if you just run past them.
There's a [TB] by the wall after two torch monsters.  Open it to receive a
WITCH CARD (#3, IGNATIA WILDSMITH).  Grab the Challenge Shield (#8) just
outside the spell book room.
In the next area you'll see a switch on the wall, a puddle of water, and what
looks like marble tiles.  First go all the way to the back of the room where
you will find [TB] with FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Salamander.
Go to the puddle of water and cast Glacius to freeze it into a block of ice.
Move the ice block to the other side of the room, then drag it or push it
under the button.  Climb onto the block and push this button to make stairs
appear from within the walls.  Go up the stairs and hang a left so that
you're just above where the button is.  There's [TB] here with health which
will probably come in handy for the events that are to come.
Exit the room and you'll find another lava pool.  Freeze it and climb onto
the platform above to where another Challenge Shield (#9) is.
<*> Below, Harry and Ron are surrounded by fire-breathing Salamanders.
(There's no point to character swap right now because only Hermione has the
Glacius spell.  Flipendos will not have any effect on these huge lizards.)
Drop down from platform to platform until you reach the bottom floor.  You have
to freeze the Salamander's main fire source, which are flames from the three
grates.  Make sure you're not rushing to the grates when the Salamanders are
guarding it, otherwise Hermione will might get burned by their fire attack.
Hopefully Harry and Ron are doing a good job of distracting them while you put
out the flames!
To defeat the Salamanders, first cast Glacius to turn them blue, then cast
Flipendo twice to shatter them like glass.  It seems kind of cruel, but hey,
it's either them or you.
The sealed exit is now opened, so retrace your steps back to the beginning of
the challenge.
<*>  Harry, Hermione and Ron return to the area where they lifted the big pot.
     Suddenly all the pots in the room plus two torches form together to create
     a nasty monster.
Play as:  H E R M I O N E
         =================
I guess you can consider this as the boss of the challenge.  It doesn't have a
variety of attacks but its blows can be deadly.  Most of the time it will be
stomping around and chasing you (Hermione).  If you're too close it will try to
grab you or pound you into the ground.  To put it simply...when he runs, you
run.
When he stops he spit burning coals at you.  Expelliarmus doesn't do anything,
so just run like heck.  After spitting four or five coals it will stop for a
few seconds.  Now it's your turn to attack.  Get near this boss, target lock
the head and cast the Glacius spell.  When it starts growling get out of there
a.s.a.p.  It will create a heat wave and anything near it will take damage.
After this it will also launch a torch at you, so keep running.  Freeze the
torch immediately after it touches the ground.  Push and hold the Glacius spell
down until it is completely extinguished, then cast Flipendo to destroy it.  If
the torch isn't extinguished it will combust and return to the body.
**Note that the second torches usually takes two tries to fully extinguish.**
After both torches are gone, you'll just need to freeze the head one more
time to defeat it.
Good job!  Once the boss has been destroyed you can now return to the
classroom.  Collect the last Challenge Shield (#10) of this area and retrace
your steps to the beginning of this challenge.
The highest mark for completing the challenge is 50 house points.
<*>  Professor Lupin congratulates the three for doing well in the challenge.
     Harry wants to learn how to fend off the Dementors just as Professor Lupin
     had done back on the train, but the professor isn't feeling well and
     suggests that maybe they can try some other time.
     Ron reminds Harry of their next lesson--Potions.
                              ===============
 **ATTEND POTIONS CLASS IN THE DUNGEONS TO LEARN ABOUT THE WIGGENWELD POTION.**
Before leaving the classroom, go up the stairs leading to Professor Lupin's
office.  There's a [TB] in front of the door that contains a WITCH CARD (#4,
Beatrix Bloxam).
Exit to the Grand Staircase and head for the Entrance Hall.  Go down the stairs
and across the Great Hall to reach the Dungeon Corridor.  There are several
students and prefect standing in the hall.  At the end of the hall is a [TB]
with a WITCH CARD (#2, Queen Maeve).  Go through the door opposite the [TB] to
enter a storage room.  There are four potion vials on top of a bookshelf but
Harry or Ron is not capable of reaching it right now.  At the back of the room
is a [TB] with a FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Fire Seed Bush.
Time for Potions lesson.  Exit the storage room and go inside the classroom.
<*>  Professor Snape begins the class by lecturing about the Wiggenweld potion.
     Ron accidentally knocks over some potion vials that combusts and causes
     Harry to fall unconscious.  Professor Snape orders Ron to bring Harry
     to the front of the class.
**Before you doing anything, search for a [TB] in the classroom for a FOLIO
BRUTI PAGE, Chizpurfle.**
Walk up to Harry and push the "X" button to carry him and drag him to the front
of the class.  Professor Snape will instruct Ron to pick up both vial of
Wiggenweld potion (on his desk).  Next, Snape will ask Ron to drink the vial
and administer the potion to Harry (equip the potion from your inventory).
<*>  Harry wakes up but still doesn't know what hit him.  Lesson was cut short
     by Ron's accident so Snape gives the class the first potion assignment,
     The Antidote to Uncommon Poisons.  You will have to find the following
     ingredients before the next Potions class:
                              * Fire seeds
                              * Billywig stings
                              * Chizpurfle carapaces
                              * The horn of a Graphorn
<*>  Ron apologizes to Harry about what happened during potions lesson.
     Hermione suggests they go look for the ingredients, and Ron says he's all
     tuckered out for the day.
         You can either search for the potion ingredients or END DAY.
         ***The House Points will be calculated when you end day.***
CHECKLIST
______1. Rescue Neville from the ghoul on the fifth floor.
______2. Return to the Gryffindor common room.
<*> Harry is still worried about Sirius Black being on the loose.  A girl comes
    running in and tells Harry how Malfoy had locked Neville in a classroom
    on the fifth floor.  To make things worse, Neville is trapped in the
    classroom with a ghoul.  Hermione is studying in the girl's dormitory so
    it's up to Harry and Ron to rescue Neville.
             **RESCUE NEVILLE FROM THE GHOUL ON THE FIFTH FLOOR.**
Exit the seventh floor to the Grand Staircase.  Hmm...no Prefects in sight.  Go
down the stairs to the fifth floor, "Muggle Studdies".
<*> Harry and Ron bump into Malfoy and his goons.  (Malfoy: "Did you see
    his...Potter and Weasley?!")
After the cut scene you'll find yourself engaged in a Wizard's Duel.  If you've
been practicing dueling in the Great Hall, you should find this challenge a
piece of cake.  Stand in a position so that you can see your opponent.  Also,
do NOT stand in front of your teammate because they have lousy aim.  Once
all three Slytherins are knocked down they will file out of the room.
***Note, careful while breaking some of the glasses in this room.  There
are stink pellets hidden in some and can literally explode in your face.  Also,
there's a gate with two handles in a corner of the room.  Come back later when
Hermione is in your party.
Collect the Challenge Shield (#11) and go through the door which leads to a
Hallway.  Open the [TB] in the middle of the hall to receive FOLIO BRUTI PAGE,
Hinkypunk.
Go through the door and find another FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Ghoul, in a [TB] to your
right.  There's another [TB] next to the organ but it can't be opened yet.  Now
head towards the other direction to where the exit is.  When you walk past the
drum set (on the shelf), some rock instruments come to life and attack you.
Cast Flipendo at them until they disappear.  Exit to the next room.
<*> Neville whimpers and begs the Ghoul the go away, and the Ghoul tries to
    knock Neville down by throwing stuff at him.  The Ghoul notices the
    presence of Harry and Ron and loses interest in Neville.
Play as:  R O N
         =======
Do NOT cast Flipendo at the Ghoul.  This will only agitate it and cause it to
attack you.  Search the room for a Jack-in-the-Box.  It has a picture of a
really scary clown on it.  Have Ron search the box which causes Jack to spring
out the box and launch Ron to the balcony above.
<*> The Ghoul is distracted by the Jack-in-the-Box, but only for a few seconds.
    It turns to Harry and starts growling.
Back on the balcony, some seriously evil dolls are trying to take a bite out of
Ron.  Keep running so that the toys don't pile up on you.  Like with the evil
rock instruments, Flipendo the toys until they disappear.  Grab the Challenge
Shield (#12) and go through the door.
The room looks like it's been hit by a tornado. There are blackboards, statues,
boxes, shelves, and mirrors everywhere; however, among this junkyard is the
LUMOS DUO spell book.  After reading the spell book, the box of fireworks on
a shelf above drops onto the ground.  A firecracker sets off and launches a
rocket over a seemingly empty glass case.  The case crashed to the ground and
Hinkypunks are set loose.
The Hinkypunks look like wisps of smoke so they aren't quite visible.  You can
see three little lanterns, which suggest that there are three Hinkypunks in the
room. When you see the lanterns moving in little circles, RUN because they will
launch fireballs (or hot coals) at you!  Casting Flipendo will go straight
through them since they are not solid.  To defeat the Hinkypunk, first cast
Lumos by pushing and holding down the spell button. Let them bathe in the light
for a couple seconds and they will materialize.  Once they're solid you'll need
cast Flipendo three times to get rid of them.  (If the Flipendo goes through
them it means you didn't cast the Lumos spell long enough.)
When all three Hinkypunks are taken care of three more will appear.  Continue
practicing on these Hinkypunks to familiarize yourself with the Lumos spell.
Now that the room is creature-free, go up to the crystal ball and cast Lumos on
it.  Hold down the spell button until a beam of light comes out of the crystal
ball.  You will have to direct this light onto the star panel on the wall.
Step onto the mirror and turn it towards the exit to raise the gates.  Collect
the Challenge Shield (#13) and exit the room.  Go down the stairs and through
the door.  Open [TB] with a Chocolate Frog in the hallway to replenish your
health.
You're back in the room with Harry and Neville.  Continue around the balcony
and destroy the evil toys.  Collect the Challenge Shield (#14) and go through
the door.  Go through a series of doors until there's a cut scene.
<*> Ron hears Harry's cry for help; however, before he can return to Harry and
    Neville he must take out a robot toy...with missile launchers.
Make sure you have Flipendo and Expelliarmus equipped.
This tiny little robot has SUPER armor.  Its only weak spot is its chest when
opened.  Target lock the robot and wait for it to attack.  The robot will
start spinning just before it launches missiles at you.  Cast Flipendo
immediately after it opens its chest and wait for it to launch the missiles.
When the missiles are just about to hit you, cast the Expelliarmus spell to
block all projectiles.  After hitting its chest four times it will blow up
to tinier little pieces.
<*> The toy train, carrying a crystal ball, comes to a stop front of Ron.
Grab the Challenge Shield (#15) by the edge of the balcony and cast Lumos
on the crystal ball.  The crystal shines a light onto the star panel
across the room and a gate (behind Harry/underneath Ron) is raised to reveal a
small closet.
Equip the Lumos spell and drop down from the balcony to the ground floor.
It's time to lock away the Ghoul.  Cast Lumos to drive the Ghoul backwards
and direct him into the small closet that just opened up.
<*> With the Ghoul safely locked away, Neville jumps down to his friends.
                  **RETURN TO THE GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM.**
Now to escort Neville back to the common room.  He'll whine forever if you
don't...
<*> When Harry, Ron and Neville reach the Fat Lady Corridor they are shocked
    to find the Fat Lady's Portrait in shreds.  Someone scared the Fat Lady
    to a landscape on the fourth floor!  Peeves was an eye-witness and he
    says the culprit is Sirius Black.
<*> Back in the common room, McGonagall announces that Sir Cadogan will
    temporarily take the place of Fat Lady and asks everyone to go to
    bed.
You are now free to explore the castle or END DAY.
<*> Everyone is talking about Sirius Black and the attack on Fat Lady.  Harry,
    Ron and Hermione's first Care of Magical Creature class is about to
    begin.  Since this will be Hagrid's first lesson, the three young
    Gryffindors want to go to class early to support their new professor.
            **ATTEND CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES CLASS IN THE GROUND.**
Care of Magical Creatures is going to be held outside so exit the castle
to Hagrid's hut.  After crossing long, narrow bridge, continue down the slope
and you should be able to see his hut slightly towards the right.
<*> Hagrid introduces Buckbeak, the hippogriff, to the class.  Hippogriffs are
    very proud creatures.  Before approaching a hippogriff, a person should bow
    and see if the hippogriff returns the bow.  If a hippogriff returns the bow
    it means it trusts the person and is willing to let him/her to touch them.
    Hagrid calls on Harry, Ron and Hermione to greet Buckbeak first.
NOTE:  Buckbeak isn't very affectionate towards Ron, so it's better to try with
       Harry or Hermione instead.
Don't worry, Buckbeak won't shred you to bits if you accidentally cast a spell
at him.  Walk up to Buckbeak and push the "X" button to bow.  Buckbeak will bow
back and let Harry (or Hermione) ride him.  Hagrid opens a chest containing
bats (20 bats in all).  When flying Buckbeak, try to eat as many bats as you
can.  (Just fly through them to eat them.)  REMEMBER, you're being timed!
Push the "O" button to lift off from the ground.  To fly, you will have to
continuously hit the "O" button to have Buckbeak flap its wings, but don't
just hit the "O" rapidly.  Push and hold the button after each flap.
The more bats you eat the higher the grade you will receive.
<*> Malfoy thinks Buckbeak is not only harmless, but ugly too, and starts
    poking fun at it.  Buckbeak is insulted and takes a swipe at Malfoy.
    Hagrid catches Malfoy and tells him that he will be okay...
<*> The day doesn't get any better for Harry.  He has to play a Quidditch match
    in the rain and he sees the Grim.  Several Dementors come onto the playing
    field, circling Harry.  Like on the train, Harry hears the screams of his
    mother and falls unconscious again.
<*> Harry is recovering in the hospital wing but is having nightmares.  Ron
    comes to tell Harry that he knows where Sirius Black is, and asks Harry
    to follow him down to the dungeons.
Okay.  Harry's in his PJ's...Exit the hospital wing to the fourth floor
corridor.
<*> Peeves is up to his old tricks again.  Ron's got his legs stuck in some
    kind of green goo, so it's up to Harry (pajama boy at the moment) to
    save Ron...again.
Peeves will throw vases at you so just dodge them (Experllairmus won't work).
Cast Flipendo at peeves a couple times to drive him away.
<*> The green goo trapping Ron's leg disappears.  He gets up but doesn't even
    thank Harry for getting rid of Peeves...that's showing gratitude for ya.
Ron exits the room so you should better follow.  When you step foot into the
Study Area, Ron has already exited to the Grand Staircase.  When you leave the
room, Harry peers down the stairs and sees Ron going to the Entrance Hall.
What is his hurry?  Maybe he wants to take on Sirius Black himself~
From the Entrance Hall, go down to the Dungeon Corridor.
<*> Harry carefully makes his way down the stairs to the Dungeons.  He tries
    to talk Ron out of finding Sirius Black on their own but Ron doesn't
    listen.
There are three statue guards in this hallway.  There's one between where you
start and the potions classroom, and two more between the potions classroom to
where Ron is waiting.  The first guard is easy to get by, but the scanning zone
for the last two statues are pretty close together.  You'll have to run in a
zig-zag pattern to get by undetected.  Meet up with Ron in the next room.
<*> Harry still tries to convince Ron to go to Dumbledore for help but is shot
    down again.  Ron tells Harry that Black is in the corner of the room.
    Harry walks over to the check it out but Ron sneaks up behind him and
    pushes him down a pit.
<*> Ron starts howling with laughter and transforms into Malfoy.  Malfoy
    reveals that he used the Polyjuice Potion to transform into Ron.  Right
    before he finishes Harry off, the real Ron appears and knocks Malfoy out
    with a spell.  Apprarently, Peeves found out what Malfoy was up to
    and couldn't wait to tell someone what it was...fortunately Peeves ran into
    Ron...otherwise Harry might not have been as lucky.
    Ron brought Harry's clothes plus the Maruader's Map.  Okay, it's time to
    get out of here.
              **ESCAPE FROM THE DUNGEONS TO THE ENTRANCE HALL.**
***NOTE***
If you look in your inventory, you will notice that you have acquired the
potion ingredient "Graphorn".  Don't worry, it's not a glitch.  You will
find out later how you got this ingredient.
Look on the Marauder's Map to find secret passageway.  Character Swap to Ron
and find the secret wall panel/door and exit the pit.
<*> You get a preview of the next area...lots of stairs and several creatures
    that looks like a cross between a zombie and a dwarf (wearing a red cap).
This creature is called a "Red Cap".  You don't have this creature in your
Folio Bruti yet because this page is found later in this challenge.
The Red Caps have two different attacks--it can use stink pellets to distract
you for a few seconds, and it can also use its club to whack Harry/Ron to the
ground.  Don't underestimate the Red Caps...they move extremely fast.  It
takes two Flipendo spells to get rid of them for good.
Go down several flights of stairs, taking out the Red Caps as you go.  Keep
going until there's a brief cut scene where Harry and Ron drop to a lower
level.  Climb up on the other side and you should be facing a gated doorway.
(There are fireballs circling around behind the gate.)  Turn right and go down
the hall to where an owl stand is.  There are two [TB]'s next to the giant keg
by the owl stand.  Open them to receive an owl treat and a VAMPIRE CARD (#3,
Sir Herbert Varney).
Playing as Harry, call for Hedwig and feed her the owl treat.  You will have
to control Hedwig and fly back to the area with the pit that Malfoy pushed
Harry into.
<*> Harry and Ron stands around and waits for Hermione.  They hear footsteps
    but don't know who they belong to until they hear Hermione's voice.
    She's not very happy that Harry's out of the hospital wing and suggest
    that they find a way out a.s.a.p.
Go to the gated doorway you passed earlier.  Have Harry and Ron lift up the
gate so Hermione can crawl through.
CHARACTER SWAP.  Play as:  H E R M I O N E
                          =================
Crawl under the gate and look for a button on the right wall (Hermione's
right).  You'll have to stand on something to reach the button, so leave it
for now.  Continue forward to where the fireballs are circling.  There will
be one fireball just before the first wooden bridge.  Target lock the fireball
and cast Glacius on it until it is extinguished.  There are two more fireball
at the end of the bridge.  Straight ahead will be two more fireballs above a
collapsed bridge.  To the right is another bridge, also with two fireballs,
but the bridge is intact.  Cross the bridge and extinguish the two fireballs
and proceed to the next room.
In the next area there are three ascending platforms.  At the top of these
platforms are several Red Caps.  You can Flipendo them from a distance without
getting hurt.  There are water spouts on the side of each platforms.  Cast
Glacius to freeze the water so that Hermione can use them to climb up.
Once you've reached the second platform you can probably hear the grunts of
more (3) Red Caps above.  You can either try targeting them from below, or
climb up and take them out Rambo style.   Once your path is clear proceed
to the next room.
<*> While Hermione is making her way across the bridge, more Red Caps come
    and starts throwing stuff at Hermione.  Fearing for her life she runs like
    heck across the bridge.  All this commotion causes the poor bridge to
    collapse.
Drop down to the level below.  There's a wooden crate blocking the way so
destroy it by casting the Flipendo (twice). Climb to where the crate used to be
and drop down on the other side.  You should land on some planks of wood.  The
REPARO spell book is just ahead.
The Reparo spell has the power to repair broken objects.  Remember those wooden
planks on the ground and the crate you destroyed earlier?  It's time to repair
and use them to reach the exit.   Turn around and face the direction in which
you came.  Cast Reparo at the planks of wood to restore it back into a crate.
Use it to climb up and drop down on the other side.  Keep going until you reach
more wooden planks on the ground (from the crate you destroyed earlier) and
restore that back into a crate.  Push this off the edge and drag/push it to
the wall of the exit.
Now you're back at the bridge that collapsed during the cut scene.  Use the
Reparo spell to restore the bridge and cross to the other side. This will bring
you back to the room where the Red Caps were earlier.  Drop down to the ground
floor and retrace your steps back to Harry and Ron.
You will need to stand on something to reach the button to raise the gate so
Harry and Ron can pass.  Cast Reparo at the planks of wood beneath the button
to restore it back into a crate.  Finally, you can reach the button...
Once Harry and Ron rejoins Hermione, go to the collapsed bridge with two
fireballs circling above.  Extinguish them to cross to the other side where two
Hinkpunks await.
                          =======
You should be a pro when it comes to dealing with Hinkypunks.  Cast Lumos at
them until they solidify then destroy them with two Flipendo spells.  Search
for a [TB] in this area near the ledge for FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Red Cap.  Exit the
room and go up the stairs.  There will be only one Red Cap in this area, and
somehow this one seems stronger than the others.  It can block Flipendo spells
if you're casting them from a distance.  Just walk up to it and blast away
until it falls on its back and disappears.  Continue up the stairs and you will
automatically exit to the storage room above.
Here's a diagram of the storage room.
There are two statue guards ("G") in this room.  One will scan from side to
side, but the other statue blocks off another route completely.  Look around
for a bookshelf that has four Wiggenweld potions ("@") hovering above.  There
are wooden planks ("#") on the ground here than can be repaired (using Reparo)
back into a crate.  Use the crate to reach the potions and drop down to the
other side.  The final obstacle in this room is a Prefect patrolling by the
exit.  It shouldn't be too hard to sneak past him because he only goes from
one side of the room to the other.  Just run past him when he has his back to
you and exit the room.  (Note:  It's easier if you change to bird's eye
view.)
You're back in the dungeon corridor where those three statue guards are.  Sneak
past them and exit to the Entrance Hall.
<*> Ron thanks Hermione for saving the day.  Hermione remembers that they still
    don't have the Graphorn's horn for potion's class tomorrow.  To everyone's
    surprise, Ron takes out the horn from his pocket.  Ron had picked it up
    when Malfoy had conveniently dropped it earlier.
You have completed all tasks for the day.  You can either explore the castle
All the potion ingredients, besides the Graphorn's horn, are found outside the
castle in the grounds.  If you're ever stuck on finding an ingredient you can
always check with Hagrid for help.  Occasionally, Glanmore Peakes' may give
you some advice as well.  His portrait is located on the sixth floor in
Glanmore Peakes' Corridor (only accessible during the night).
Speak to Hagrid outside the castle.  He tells you that he's just received a
letter from the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures department--a personal
complaint of Buckbeak was filed by Lucius Malfoy.  Speak to him again and he
will tell you where to find the other potion ingredients.
For Billywigs, you will need Buckbeak's help.  As for the Chizpurfle, you can
find them by the Venemous Tentaculas by the lake.
they should begin the Anti-Dementor lessons tonight.
Go to the second floor (Charms) and enter the Charms Classroom.
+++ CARPE RETRACTUM CHALLENGE +++
This challenge takes place in a sewer-like area.  How they ever manage to build
a sewer on the second floor...?  We'll never know.  Walk forward until two
torches light up.  To destroy them, have Hermione cast Glacius to freeze them,
then cast four Flipendo spells to shatter them into ice dust. Two other torches
will light up, making that a total of four torches you will have to deal with
in this room. Once you've wiped them out a door automatically opens revealing a
Challenge Shield (#16).  Grab it and move on.
There are three flaming handles along the wall.  Have Hermione cool them off
with Glacius, then have each character grab onto one handle.  Ready?  One, two,
Three...PULL!
<*> The platform that Harry, Ron and Hermione was standing on must have been
    what the wizarding world would consider to be an "elevator".  They drop
    at a very high speed but only for a few seconds.  Some Red Caps jump in
    from holes in the wall.
The Red Caps only take two Flipendos to be knocked out.  There will be three
sets of Red Caps to deal with.  After defeating all the Red Caps, the platform
will descend to the very bottom.
Once you've hit the bottom, go through the corridor and you'll reach a gate.
Harry and Ron must lift up the gate so that Herimione can crawl under.
Play as:  H E R M I O N E
         =================
You've reached the heart of the challenge...or sewer.  There are some
frightening sculptures on the wall, broken staircases and a pool of slimy,
green water.  Reparo won't do anything on the broken stairs, so there's
only one way to go--across the slimy, green water.
Equip the Glacius spell and approach the water's edge.  Target locking the
water is not necessary.  You can actually cover more area with ice if you
hold down the Glacius spell button and move the analog joystick around.
When you've crossed to the other side, climb up the platform and look for
a button (on the left side).  This button raises the gate so that Harry
and Ron can pass.  Even though they're in the same room as Hermione, you
still can't character swap back to them.  Don't bother trying to make an
icy passage for them cross the water...that won't do anything either.
Open the [TB] with FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Doxy, grab the Challenge Shield (#17)
and leave them room.
You should see two potion vials ahead of you.  These are Antidotes to
Uncommon Poisons.  They'll come in handy if you get bitten by Doxies, which
you will encounter in this room.  There are a total of two Doxies and
two Red Caps here.  You should be familiar with Red Caps by now.  As for
the Doxies, they move pretty fast, and you can lose them even when they
have been target locked. They zoom around all over the place and then come
straight for you.  When they do, move backwards to avoid getting bitten or
just run away.  Three Flipendos will finish off a Doxy.
Exit through the door at the end of the hall.
Here's a diagram of the next room.
  CS           Challenge Shield.
I recommend taking out the Doxies first so you won't have to worry about them
later.  There are three cages with Doxies, labeled [D] on diagram.  They are
cage numbers 2, 3, and 5.  Cast Flipendo on the cages to free the Doxies.
It's better if you take it one Doxy at a time.  Once you're through with them,
destroy the empty cages, [-], labeled numbers 1 and 4.
**ALL CAGES SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESTROYED.**
There are two waterspouts (##) towards the back of the room.  Cast Glacius to
freeze the water so you can climb up to where the Antidote to Uncommon Poisons
(@) are.  Also on this platform is a button (at the other end of where the
potions were).  Push the button to let in a beam of light.  The light stops at
the mirror closest to where the potions were, *M*.  Drop down and cast Glacius
on the waterspout right under mirror *M*.  Climb up and turn the mirror
to the right two times so that the light hits the crystal ball in the center of
the room.  The light will bounce off the ball onto the one-eyed statue, <>,
which squirts out puddle of water onto the ground below (marked "W" on
diagram).
Freeze the water puddle to create an ice block.  Before pushing the ice block
around, equip REPARO and repair cage #1.
Now push the ice block (it should be where the W is located on the diagram)
right, down (passing destroyed cage numbers and 4), then left.  If done
correctly, the ice block should be right up against cage #1.
Repair cage #4 and destroy cage #1.  Push the ice block right towards cage #4,
The block should be touching cage #4 and the destroyed cage #5.  Finally,
push the ice block down so that it rests on the switch, marked (S) on the
diagram.  This opens the path to the next room.  Grab the Challenge Shield
(#18) and exit.
Follow the path and take out the three Red Caps along the way.  You'll end
up in the room where Harry and Ron are waiting.  Cast REPARO on the pile
of junk on the floor to restore it back into a mechanical wheel device.
Cast Flipendo on this device three times to make it lock into place.  This
causes a stone path to be lowered.
Cross the stone path and turn left towards the center of the room.  Keep
circling until you see another path, then turn right.  You'll reach a dead
end where you'll find a [TB] containing a WIZARD CARD (#4, Edgar Stroulger)
and a button.  Push the button and the stairs below will connect.  The
Character Swap feature is available now.
Return to where the stone pathway was lowered. There are two ropes holding
up this pathway.  Climb up either rope and shuffle along the wall to the left.
Aha!  Here's another button.  Push it to raise the gate below...however, by
doing so also causes the gates to trap Harry above.
You automatically take control as Ron, but you need Hermione, so...
Go through the passageway that just opened up.  You will have to cross a long
wooden bridge that is broken in several section.  There's some pesky Red
Caps here, four in all, that will try to distract you.  Repair the bridge and
shoot down the Red Caps as you go.  Once you're across the bridge, go up the
stairs where another puzzle awaits.
More crystal balls...oh what fun~  There are two Hinkypunks dancing around this
room.  It would be a good idea to eliminate them first.
Force the Hinkypunks to take on physical form by showering them with Ron's
Lumos spell.  Once they become solid, blast them away with Flipendo.  (It may
take a few tries.)  When both Hinkypunks are destroyed, the camera will focus
on a large crystal ball on one of the higher platforms.  Ron can't reach the
crystal ball without Hermione's help.
Slightly towards the right.
                          =================
Follow the beam of light to the mirror.  There's also a waterspout here so
freeze the water and climb up to the mirror and move it clockwise two turns.
This will direct the beam of light onto the one-eyed statue.  Like in the
previous puzzle, the statue will squirt out a puddle of water onto the floor
below; however, this time the water spills onto a smaller crystal ball.
Cast GLACIUS on the water puddle to form an ice block.  The crystal ball will
be sitting at the top of the ice block.  Okay, before proceeding, let's get
an idea of what needs to be done.  Search the room for another one-eyed
sculpture.  It's not going to be a statue like the other ones.  It's mounted
on the side of one of the square blocks in the middle of the room.  Only the
platform with the mirror has a waterspout, so check out the other one.
You should find an eye sculpture facing the wall with two waterspouts and
the large crystal ball.  If you haven't figured it out yet, you will need to
have Ron charge the crystal ball using Lumos, then move the ice block so that
the beam of light (from the small crystal ball) hits the eye sculpture on the
square platform.  The light doesn't have to be fixated on the eye sculpture,
it just needs to pass it.
(A lot of people are using Ron/Hermione as a rest stop so the beam of light
hits directly on the eye sculpture...ouch~!)
A staircase will form from the wall.  Go up the stairs, grab the Challenge
Shield (#19) and exit the room.  There are two Hinkypunks down this
corridor, but it's optional whether or not you want to destroy them...
exit the room.
This is the top floor of the challenge.  There's a [TB] to the right with a
WIZARD CARD (#2, Glanmore Peakes).  Make your way towards where the stairs
begin to descend.  Push the button on the wall to free Harry and connect the
rest of the stairs.
                          ===========
If you head towards the center of the room (on the top floor), you'll find
a bridge that has a HUGE gap.  There's no way Harry can jump across this
great of a distance.  Better find another way.
Go to where you found the WIZARD CARD, Glanmore Peakes.  There's a stone
pathway a few feet below.  Jump onto the platform and climb up one of the
ropes.  Have Harry push his back against the wall and shuffle to the right
to find a mechanical wheel device.  Target lock the wheel and hit it three
times with Flipendo to raise the stone platform below.  Shuffle back and
climb down the first rope you see.  You should see a door directly in front
of you.  Jump across and go through this door.  This will lead you to the
spell book room.
Go up the spiraling staircase and pickup the Carpe Retractum spell book.
<*> After obtaining the Carpe Retractum spell book, the spiraling staircase
    winds down to the bottom floor, trapping Harry in the center of the
    elevated room.
Two pairs of Red Caps appear.  Quickly take out the two Red Caps by the green
statue.  The other two Red Caps are a bit trickier since they have shields.
You can pull off their shields with the CARPE RETRACTUM shield then take them
out as usual with two Flipendo spells.  (NOTE: You probably can't pull off
their shields from the center of the room because the distance is too far.)
Target lock the green statue and cast CARPE RETRACTUM.  (Make sure you're
holding down the spell button.)  Once you've got a hold of the statue, push
down on the left analog joystick to pull yourself to the statue.  Next look for
golden hook on a wooden bridge.  This is a folding bridge so, cast CARPE
RETRACTUM to fully extend the bridge.  Take out the last two Red Caps (if you
haven't done so already), then exit the room.
Continue down the corridor until you reach a small room with a gated pathway
and a tiny grate in the wall.  Leave them there for the time being and exit
through the other door.
Here's another folding bridge.  Pull one side of the bridge towards you first,
then jump across and pull the other side out so that bridge is connected all
the way.  Call for Hermione and Ron to rejoin the group using the L1 button
and return to previous room.
Pull the grate out of the wall using the CARPE RETRACTUM spell.  This opening
is too small for Harry, so character swap to Hermione.
                          =================
Crawl through the hole, turn right and push the button on the wall.  This
raises the gates behind Hermione and allows Harry and Ron to pass.  Exit the
room for a brief cut scene.
<*> An army of Red Caps marches your way.
Here are some more Red Caps with shields.  You can still defeat them with
regular Flipendo spells, but you'll have to cast them from close range.  Wipe
them out and continue on.  Collect the Challenge Shield (#20) and exit the
room.
A statue knight with several shields block the exit to the challenge.  You can
only play as Harry during this battle.  Your teammates will try to help, but
they're just going to get in the way.  In fact, they might end up losing all
their health and pass out.  When they do, you should be a friend and administer
the Wiggenweld potion to them.
The statue will twirl around the entire battle.  When he stops, cast CARPE
RETRACTUM onto one of the four shields and pull it off the statue.  There are
these repulsive creatures under the shields and they hop around like fleas.
Once they stop jumping around, they'll stand up and their chest will be
exposed.  Cast Flipendo at their chest a couple times and they're goners.
Once all four of the shield creatures have been disposed, the statue will pull
out four swords.  It will continue to twirl around, but now with his
sword drawn.  When he stops he will strike the ground with all swords, so
keep your distance!  Right after he draws back his sword, get in target locking
range, target the head and cast CARPE RETRACTUM to pull off his head to end
the battle.
Finally, exit the challenge.
<*> Professor Flitwick congratulates Harry, Ron and Hermione for doing well on
    the Challenge.  (Highest mark will earn you 50 house points.)
<*> Hermione suggests that they go look for the potion ingredients if they're
    not too tired.  Ron's exhausted and isn't really looking forward to doing
    any more work.  He also points out that the Prefects will be doing their
    round on this floor soon, so they should leave a.s.a.p.
Before exiting the classroom, destroy the flying books and the Monster Book of
Monster to open a [TB] containing a WIZARD CARD (#1, Merlin).  At a corner
of the room (towards the front of the class) is a pile of wood.  Have HERMIONE
cast REPARO on it to restore it back into a box.  Climb up onto of the
bookshelf and open the [TB] for some  beans.
There is another [TB] with beans behind a bookshelf near the back of the class
(close to the exit).  Look for a lever (or could be a torch) on the wall and
have HARRY cast CARPE RETRACTUM to pull the lever.  This will move the
bookshelf out of the way to reveal the [TB] of beans.  Watch out...this also
unleashes more flying books.
         You can either search for the potion ingredients or END DAY.
         ***The House Points will be calculated when you end day.***
    Crookshank wants to kill his pet rat, Scabbers.  Apparently, Crookshanks
    heard that Scabbers was in his pocket and attacked him.
<*> Hermione is always trying to learn as much as she can and asks Harry if
    they could tag along with him to the Anti-Dementor lessons.  Harry can't
**MEET PROFESSOR LUPIN IN THE HISTORY OF MAGIC CLASSROOM ON THE FOURTH FLOOR.**
Exit the seventh floor to the Grand Staircase and go through the door marked
"Fourth Floor (History of Magic)".
The first room on the fourth floor is the "Study Area".  There are several
bookshelves here with flying books, but for some reason they won't attack you
during this particular night.  There's a fireplace at the other end of the
room.  Have Hermione cast GLACIUS to extinguish the fire to receive a VAMPIRE
CARD (#2, Amarillo Lestoat).
Go through the door marked "Fourth Floor Corridor".  Remember this place?
This is where Harry and "Ron" battled Peeves (Black Deeds section).  There are
two wizard cards in this room.  Cast LUMOS DUO on the crystal ball that will
shine a beam of light onto a panel towards the Hospital Wing. A gap in the wall
will form to reveal a [TB] with a VAMPIRE CARD (#4, Blodwyn Bludd).  The other
card is towards the History of Magic classroom which is down the other hall.
Collect the CLASSICAL BEAST CARD (#1, Giant Squid) if you haven't gotten it
already.  Enter the classroom to initiate a cut scene.
<*> Professor Lupin greets the three and immediately begins the lesson.  Harry
    will be learning the Patronus spell, which conjures a guardian that acts as
    a shield against the Dementors.  But before Harry can learn this charm he
    must retrieve the spell book first.  So, step inside the closet which will
    bring you to the next challenge.
                    **GET THE EXPECTO PATRONUM SPELL BOOK.**
The first room is divided by a pool of water. Before the pool of water is a
Carpe Retractum tile and a block that's glowing orange.  Push this block
along the groove until it locks in place.  The orange glow changes to green
and a statue across the pool of water pops out of the ground.  Stand as close
as you can to the statue and cast CARPE RETRACTUM to pull yourself across the
water.  There's another block here so do the same thing as before.  Once it
locks into place, the gate blocking the next area will be removed.
This room seriously looks like a huge whack-a-mole game...doesn't it?  Okay,
this area's a bit tricky, so here's a diagram to help.
  LEGEND
==========
  Numbers         Platforms.  Most of them have statues.
(1, 2, 3..)
  Letters         Platforms with switch to raise the four gates blocking the
(A, B, C..)       exit.
 ^^^^^^^^^^       Gates blocking the exit (x4).
     @            Final statue that appears after all four gates have been
                  raised.
***NOTE***
A Dementor will appear after Harry steps foot on the platform.
There is no right or wrong way to get around this room.  Just use the statues
to move from platform to platform; however, depending on where you are, only
certain statues will appear.
Here's the method I used to get to all four switches (A, B, C, and D).
***USE THE CARPE RETRACTUM SPELL TO MOVE FROM PLATFORM TO PLATFORM***
1. START
   Have Harry pull himself to PLATFORM 12.
<*> Harry feels very uncomfortable in this room and hears muffled screams in
    the background.  A Dementor suddenly appears from behind him...
   SWITCH "D" is the closest one to you but also to the Dementor.  Get
   away from the Dementor first so let's head for SWITCH "B".
2. From Platform 12 to SWITCH "B"
Move to the following platforms in this order (starting from PLATFORM 12):
                        9, 10, 6, 5, 2, then onto "B".
Push the block into the slot to raise one of the four gates blocking the exit.
3. From SWITCH "B" to SWITCH "D"
Move to the following platforms in this order (starting from "B"):
                         2, 5, 6, 10, then onto "D".
Push the block into the slot to raise the second gate blocking the exit.
4. FROM SWITCH "D" to SWITCH "A"
Move to the following platforms in this order (starting from "D"):
   10, 9, 8, 4, 1 (this statue takes a few seconds appear), then onto "A".
Push the block into the slot to raise the third gate blocking the exit.
5. FROM SWITCH "A" to SWITCH "C"
Move to the following platforms in this order (staring from "A"):
  1, 4, 3, 7 (this statue takes a few seconds to appear), then onto "C".
Push the block into the slot to raise the final gate blocking the exit.
Another statue (marked "@" on diagram) appears by the exit.
6. FROM SWITCH "C" to EXIT
Move to the following platforms in this order (starting from "C"):
7, 3 (platform 7 collapses as Harry pulls away), 4, 1, then have Harry pull
himself to the statue by the exit, marked "@" on diagram.  Exit the room.
The Expecto Patronum spell book is on the large platform in the middle of the
room.  Target lock the statue on this platform and have Harry pull himself
towards it by using the CARPE RETRACTUM spell.  Pick up the spell book to
learn Expecto Patronum.
<*> A Dementor creeps up behind Harry...
Equip the EXPECTO PATRONUM spell from the menu.  When you cast this spell, a
spark of light will shoot out from Harry's wand.  You will have to guide this
light using the left analog joystick and aim it at the Dementor.  Hit the
Dementor using this spell three times to finish it off.
<*> The Dementor flies through Harry (causing him to pass out) and retreats
    back into a chest.
<*> When Harry comes around he finds himself back in the classroom with
    Ron, Hermione and Professor Lupin.  Harry tells Lupin that he heard his
    father during his encounter with the Dementors.  Harry is surprised to
    find out that Lupin knew his father's name.  Before Harry gets chance
    to ask Lupin if he knew his parents, an unexpected visitor knocks at
    the door.
    The mystery guest is Professor Snape.  Lupin asks the three of them to
    sneak out while he meets Professor Snape.
    Ron makes a fuss about Snape giving them impossible homework assignments.
    While Harry was still in the challenge, Hermione got some studying done
    and found that they could obtain some Fairy wings at Hogsmeade.  Harry
    searches the Marauder's map for a way into Hogsmeade and finds a secret
    passageway from the third floor.
                               ===============
     **OPEN AND ENTER THE GUNHILDA OF GORSEMOOR STATUE ON THE THIRD FLOOR.**
Before exiting the classroom, have Hermione read the note on the statue at
the front of the class.  It's the statue of BEAUMONT MAJORIBANKS which is
on the statue challenge list.  For more information on Hermione's statue
challenge, -> SECTION XIV: Hermione's Statue List and Location.
Next, look for a barred doorway, also located towards the front of the
classroom.  Have Hermione crawl under the bars and pick up the DRACONIFORS
spell book.  The barred doorway you just crawled from is now block by a
curtain.  Equip the DRACONIFORS spell and cast it at the tiny dragon
statue to make the curtain catch fire.  Crawl back into to classroom and
exit to the Fourth Floor Corridor.
Go back the way you came and go to the STUDY AREA.
Snape and Lupin are at one end of the room.  It's better not to disturb them
since students aren't suppose to be wandering the corridors after dark.
Nothing will happen if you "accidentally" barge in on their conversation.
Snape will just start cackling and coughing up a hairball.
There's a dragon statue to the right of the fireplace.  Have HERMIONE cast
DRACONFIORS on the statue to burn down the curtain next to it.  A door
marked "Secret Way to the Second Floor" appears.  Go through this door and
open the [TB] to find a BEAST CARD (#2, Doxy).  You can also find the statue
for Gondoline Oliphant in this room for Hermione's statue list.
Go down the stairs and open the [TB] with several beans halfway down the
stairs.  Go through the door marked "Second Floor (Charms)" when you reach
the bottom.
There are flying books in this room so have your wand at the ready.  You can
have Hermione cast Snufflifors on the flying books for a couple beans.
(HERMIONE can buy this spell from Fred/George's shop for 50 beans.) Open the
[TB] by the door to find a FOLIO BRUTI PAGE, Fairy.  The exit is blocked by a
curtain, so have HERMIONE cast DRACONIFORS on the dragon statue to burn it
down.  Go through the door to the Second Floor Corridor.
There are two Statue Guards and one Prefect patrolling this corridor.  You'll
have to go right and past the Prefect to reach the Grand Staircase.  Run past
him when he's not looking and you should be fine.
***NOTE***
Burn down the curtain closest to the Grand Staircase to find a Secret Passage.
This passage is connected to the third floor.  There's a wizard card behind a
curtain but you can only get it from the third floor.
Exit to the Grand Staircase and go to the third floor.  This room is also
heavily guarded by Statue Guards and a Prefect.
You can use any character to sneak past the Statue Guards and Prefect; however,
if you want to collect an extra card on the way, then you'd better play as
Hermione.
Hide behind the bookshelf until the Prefect turns the other way.  Sneak towards
a dragon statue (@) and cast DRACONIFORS to burn down the curtain +++++.  A
door, "Secret Passage (Charms)", is revealed.  Go through this door and slide
down to get a BEAST CARD (#1, Imp).  You can either character swap to another
character and go back through the same door you just came from, or slide down
and exit to the Second Floor Corridor.
Starting from the "Secret Passage (Charms)" door on the Third Floor Corridor,
wait for the Prefect to turn the other way then run down past the final two
Statue Guards.  Sneak past the last Statue Guard to reach the Gunhilda of
Gorsemoor Corridor.
Continue down the corridor dodging all the Statue Guards.  You will pass by
statues of all four houses and right before you reach the staircase will be
another statue, Gunhilda of Gorsemoor (this is a statue on Hermione's Statue
List).  Harry will say the password and a secret passage opens.
<*> The secret passage leads outside the castle to the Shrieking Shack.  Some
    fairies are startled by the trio and flies away.  Harry, Ron and Hermione
    chases after the fairies up a hilltop, but little do they know that they
    are being watched by Goyle, one of Malfoy's goons.
There are two [TB]'s nearby.  Both contain a chocolate frog.  They might come
in handy later.  Walk around the shack to initiate another cut scene.
<*> The trio spots some fairies by a bush but their attention is directed
    elsewhere as Malfoy and his goons appears onto the scene.
It's a wizard's duel!  It's Gryffindor against Slytherin, and this time the
teams are evenly matched.  Fire Flipendos at the Slytherins until their life
gauge is depleted.  You can protect yourself by either blocking their attacks
using the Expelliarmus spell or simply hide behind a tree stump.  (Dodge the
orange spells because they turn you into pumpkin-heads!)
<*> The Slytherins get their butts kicked and runs away.  Hermione proposes
    that they collect the fairy wings and return to the castle a.s.a.p.
    because the Dementors will be patrolling the area soon.
After the cut scene, you automatically play as Hermione.  Cast REPARO on the
dragon statue nearby to restore it back into a dragon.  Next, cast DRACONIFORS
on the statue and the dragon will torch a bush, forcing fairies to fly out.
To collect the fairies, cast Flipendo to knock them down, then cast Glacius to
cool them off (since they're still on fire).  After you collect three
fairies...
<*> Ron is impressed by Hermione's performance on catching the fairies.  Before
    they can celebrate, however, a few Dementors closes in on the Shrieking
    Shack.  Thinking quickly, Harry orders Ron and Hermione to break down the
    fence while he distracts the Dementors.
Play as:  H A R R Y
         ===========
Harry will have to keep the Dementors busy until Ron and Hermione breaks down
the fence.  A damage gauge for the fence is displayed on the bottom left corner
of the screen.  Harry will have to battle the Dementors until this gauge is
completely depleted.  Unlike the Dementor-boggart in the Patronus challenge,
these Dementors will not fly away/disappear after three successful hits.  Cast
EXPECTO PATRONUM and guide the spells onto the Dementors.  If they try to suck
you in, just wiggle the left analog joystick until you break free.
<*> When the damage gauge for the fence is depleted, the fence will fall and
    the trio will use it as a sled to slide down to safety.
                  **RETURN TO THE GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM.**
You return to the GUNHILDA OF GORSEMOOR CORRIDOR, however, in addition to the
Statue Guards scanning the room, Professor Snape is also on night watch.  You
will have to sneak past him to get back to the Third Floor Corridor.
There are two ways to sneak past Professor Snape.  The first route is the way
you first came...past all those statue guards.  The second route is taking the
stairs to the second level.  You can collect three cards if you take the second
route, but that's entirely up to you.  If you're not aiming for 100% completion
and/or just want to finish the game as quickly as possible, take the first
route since it is obviously much easier and much shorter.
                 First Route - Sneaking past Professor Snape
                 ===========================================
You can creep past Professor Snape when he has his back turned away from you.
Keep in mind you'll have to hug along the wall (opposite Snape, duh) in order
not to be seen.  The best time to sneak past him is when he's staring off at
the wall with the four House statues/mascots.
                 Second Route - Taking stairs to second level
                 ============================================
Go up the stairs to the left and have HERMIONE cast DRACONIFORS on a dragon
statue.  This will burn down the curtain to reveal a door marked, "STOREROOM."
Go in the STOREROOM, grab the HAG CARD (#1, Babayaga), and exit through the
other door to a balcony area.  Open [TB] to your right to find a BEAST CARD
(#3, Bowtruckle).  Character Swap to Harry and search for a green statue on
another balcony.  Use the CARPE RETRACTUM spell to pull Harry to this balcony
and open another [TB] to receive a GIANT CARD (#4, Morholt).  Now jump off the
balcony and exit to the Third Floor Corridor.  (NOTE:  Only Harry can jump
off the balconies.)
Sneak past the final two Statue Guards and go to the Third Floor Corridor.
You're back in the room with the Prefect and Statue Guards.
Trolls are disgusting, filthy creatures, and are attracted to foul odors...
i.e., Dungbombs!
Equip Dungbombs from your inventory.  If you don't have any, don't fret because
you can find them by searching the bookshelves. Don't waste your time and beans
by buying them at Fred/George's shop.
Peek over the first bookshelf to see the first security troll. Throw a Dungbomb
between the first and second bookshelf.  Once the Dungbomb hits the ground, the
Troll will waddle towards the stench.  Quickly run past the troll before the
bomb explodes.
When you reach the bookshelf at the corner of the room, peek over the side to
spot another Troll.  There are desks on either sides of the troll.  Run to the
desks closest to you and throw a dung bomb in between the desk. Again, when the
Troll waddles towards the bomb, run like heck across the room to the [TB].
open this [TB] to find a BEAST CARD (#4, Billywig).
Turn the corner and go past the desks.  There are two more Trolls, and you'll
have to act fast to get past them.  Throw a Dungbomb to the Troll's right and
run behind the bookshelf it was guarding.  Next, hug along the bookshelf and
throw a Dungbomb towards the final Troll.  When it starts moving, make like the
wind and run to the exit.  Go through the door, "Fat Lady's Corridor".
The Fat Lady's portrait has been restored.  Who's that standing outside
Gryffindor Tower?
<*> Sirius Black was able to get in to Gryffindor Tower because he found
    the password that Neville had so conveniently written down and lost.
    Professor McGonagall was furious at Longbottom and forbade anyone
    to give him the password.  Luckily Harry and the gang snuck out
    this night, otherwise Neville might have had to spend the night
    listening to Sir Cadagon's jibber jabber.
<*> Inside the common room, Ron says he's exhausted and wants to go to bed.
Ron's right.  It's been a very long day and it's time for them to turn in.
    Sirius Black was still in the castle; however, even after a thorough
    search of the castle, the whereabouts of Sirius Black still remains
    unknown.
    There's still no sign of Scabbers, and Crookshanks is missing as well.
    Ron and Hermione are both worried about their pets, but they're more
    concerned about colleting the potion ingredients for class.
                 **COLLECT INGREDIENTS FOR THE GIRDING POTION.**
All the potion ingredients are located in the grounds.  So, exit Gryffindor
Tower, go down the Grand Staircase, and enter the Entrance Hall.  Hagrid is
standing by the Hourglasses.  He's waiting to find out what's going to happen
to Buckbeak.  Speak to him again and he will give you some hints to find the
potion ingredients.
Exit the castle to search for the ingredients.  You already have the Fairy
Wings, so you only have three more potion ingredients to look for.  They are:
Flying Seahorses, Doxy eggs, and toasted Dragonfly thoraxes.  You should
begin with Doxy eggs since they're closest to the castle's entrance.  The
The Flying Seahorses are in the lake by the boathouse, and the Dragonflies are
by a fountain in a courtyard towards the greenhouses (on the way to where you
found the Fire Seeds).
               **GO TO POTIONS CLASS TO MIX THE GIRDING POTION.**
After collecting all the potion ingredients required for the Girding potion,
go down to the Dungeons and enter the Potions classroom to begin the lesson.
<*> Professor Shape explains to the class the use of the Girding potion.
    The potion increases the drinker's endurance for a few weeks and no more
    than two vials should be taken.
<*> Outside the classroom, Harry tells Ron that he has to go to the Quidditch
    Stadium and takes off.  Ron catches Malfoy scheming with a Prefect about
    switching the Quidditch balls with jinxed balls.  Their accomplices moved
    the crate of real Quidditch balls to the courtyard.  Malfoy and the Prefect
    leaves thinking that they secured their victory for the Quidditch Cup.
<*> Shortly afterwards, Hermione comes out from the Potions classroom and Ron
    informs her of what he had just overheard.  He suggests that they bring
    this matter to Dumbledore's attention immediately, but Hermione propose
    that they will need some kind of evidence to prove their claim.  The
    real Quidditch balls were moved to the courtyard.  If they could somehow
    procure these balls, they would have strong evidence to nail Malfoy.
 **COLLECT THE QUIDDITCH BALL CRATE FROM THE COURTYARD IN FRONT OF THE CLOCK
Before you leave the Dungeons, return to the Potions classroom and collect the
two Girding potions hovering above the desks.
Go up to the Entrance Hall and exit the castle.
<*> Ron spots the crate or Quidditch balls in the center of the courtyard.  The
    Slytherins used a rope to tie the crate above an archway...boy are they
    dumb or what?!  There aren't any openings to the courtyard.  The only way
    in is to fly in.
You will need Buckbeak's assistance to reach the courtyard.  You can find
Buckbeak in a pen next to Hagrid's hut.  Buckbeak doesn't take a very strong
liking to Ron, so Hermione will have to fly Buckbeak to the courtyard.
Remember to be polite, and BOW before your climbing on Buckbeak!
Once you have control of Buckbeak, you only have one minute to fly to the
courtyard.  So, fly towards the long wooden bridge and drop down inside the
courtyard.  When you dismount Buckbeak, you will have two minutes to get the
crate.  There are two columns here.  Climb onto the shortest column and cast
DRACONIFORS on the dragon statue sitting on the other column.
<*> The flame from the dragon statue burns through the rope, causing the
    crate to fall down.
Pick up the crate and climb back onto Buckbeak.  The Quidditch match is about
to begin, and you have 88 seconds to get to the stadium.
you found the Fire Seeds).  Colorful banners and flags decorate the stadium,
making it very easy to locate. Land by the entrance of the stadium where Ron is
already waiting.  Walk up to the stadium to initiate a cut scene.
<*> Hermione and Ron arrive just in time to show Dumbledore that the Slytherins
    had switched the Quidditch balls.  He removed the jinxes and allowed the
    match to continue.  With the help of Hermione and Ron, Harry not only won
    the match, but the Quidditch Cup as well.
<*> Outside the stadium, Ron and Hermione congratulate Harry on the game.
    The joyous occasion subsided when they see Hagrid nearby in tears.
    Buckbeak has been sentenced to death, and the execution will take place
    after sunset.  The only thing he can do for Buckbeak is to make him feel
    nice and comfortable during his last hours on earth.
<*> Hermione agrees with Hagrid that there's nothing that can be done to
    save Buckbeak and suggests that they turn in for the day.
If you're out of Dungbombs, search the bookshelves and you'll probably find
some.  You'll have to act pretty quickly to get past the first two trolls.
Throw the first Dungbomb TO THE TROLL'S LEFT and run around the bookshelf.
When you reach the second Troll, throw another Dungbomb TO IT'S LEFT and run
past the bookshelf and to the corner of the room.  There should be an empty
[TB] here if you've opened it during your last visit.  If not, open it to
receive a BEAST CARD (#4, Billywig).  Scan the room down the hall to find the
third troll standing guard between two sets of desks.  Throw a Dungbomb in
between the desks and run all the way down across the room and turn the corner.
The last troll is a few feet away.  It doesn't matter where you throw the last
Dungbomb, because the troll is more interested in the stench from the Dungbomb
than catching students up past their bedtime.  REMEMBER, the trolls are only
distracted up until the bomb explodes.  Once the Dungbombs are spent they will
go back to patrolling.
Exit the room to the Seventh Floor Corridor.  You're back in the room with
the portrait of Sir Cadogan.  Exit the seventh floor to the Grand Staircase.
Right now is a good time to visit Fred and George's shop.  You can purchase
the Girding potion for 50 beans per vial.  This potion can permanently increase
the drinker's endurance, but each person cannot exceed more than two doses.
There are no Prefects patrolling the Entrance Hall.  Exit the castle to the
Clock Tower courtyard.  Go around the courtyard and across the long, wooden
bridge.  It isn't completely dark yet, but the clouds are dark and gloomy,
and the music makes the atmosphere appear even more ominous.  Go to Hagrid's
hut.
<*> When Harry, Hermione and Ron arrives at Hagrid's hut, so does the
    executioner.  Hagrid told the three to hide somewhere since students
    aren't allowed to wander outside after dark.  They were mournful to
    witness Buckbeak's fate.  Ron lowers his head in grief and sees Scabbers
    running like wild.  He chases after Scabbers and finally catches him by
    the Whomping Willow.  Suddenly, a black dog jumps in front of Ron and
    drags him beneath the Whomping Willow.
Harry and Hermione chases after Ron to the underground passage beneath the
Whomping Willow.  Follow the path down the stairs and you will come across
a gang of Red Caps.  Some of them have large shields so have Harry pull them
off using the CARPE RETRACTUM spell.  Go through the door to the next room.
Cross the bridge to find three more Salamanders.  (Harry leaves the area with
the Salamanders so Hermione has space to deal with them.)  Again, extinguish
their main fire source, freeze the Salamanders, then break them using a couple
Flipendo spells.  Exit the room, go down the stairs and open the door to the
next area.
DOXIES!  Three of them.  You always want to keep your distance with Doxies
because their bite is poisonous.  Target lock the Doxies and blast away with
Flipendo.  If they zoom towards you, take a few step back while still holding
down the R1 button and firing away with Flipendos.  If Harry or Hermione gets
bitten by a Doxy, their life gauge will gradually decrease.  Take the Antidote
to Uncommon Poisons if necessary and exit the room.
You'll run into more Red Caps here, but you can snipe them off from a distance.
Drop into the pit in the middle of the room so you can target lock the Red Caps
(who are running around above near the exit).  There's a broken crate here as
well, so restore it using the REPARO spell.  You can also stand on top of the
crate to get a better angle at casting Flipendo spells at the Red Caps.  Move
the crate against the wall towards where the Red Caps were and have both Harry
and Hermione climb out of the pit.
There's a button on the wall but it's too high for either characters to reach.
By the gated exit is a trunk.  Have both characters grab/carry the trunk and
drop it right below the button.  Climb on the trunk and push the button to
raise the gates blocking the exit.  Go up the stairs to exit the tunnel.
<*> The tunnel leads up to the Shrieking Shack.  It turns out that the dog they
    saw earlier is actually Sirius Black.  Black came to Hogwarts not to murder
    Harry, but to track down Peter Pettigrew (a.k.a. "Scabbers"), the real
    traitor who turned in James and Lily Potter to Voldemort.  Lupin also
    arrives at the scene.  He and Sirius prepares to curse Pettigrew but Harry
    insists that the real culprit be sent to Azkaban instead.
<*> As Lupin, Black, and the trio escorts Pettigrew back to the castle, a full
    moon rises and Lupin transforms into a werewolf.  Black also transforms
    into a dog to protect Harry and the gang.  During the confusion, Pettigrew
    escapes once again.
<*> When Black transforms back into human form, he is critically injured and
    does not have the energy to fend the Dementors that were drawing nearer.
                    **PROTECT SIRIUS FROM THE DEMENTORS.**
Hermione runs for cover first.  As she runs away, the camera shows you the
path/direction which Harry must carry Sirius to safety.  If Dementors try to
suck in your soul, just wiggle the left analog joystick to pull free.  Carry
Black as far as you until Harry drops him.  Next you'll have to cast the
Expecto Patronum spell at the Dementors, but always take out the ones closest
to Black and Hermione first.  Keep this up until the screen switches to a
cut scene (you can hit about 15-20 Dementors).
<*> Harry becomes exhausted and can't keep the Dementors back for long.  From
    across the lake, a bright light in the form of a stag rushes towards them
    taking out all Dementors blocking its way.  Harry sees the spell caster
    and believes it is his father.
<*> Sirius Black was captured and is locked away on the seventh floor in the
    West Tower.  Harry and Hermione awake in the hospital wing and tries to
    explain to Dumbledore that Black is innocent.  Dumbledore believes them
    but tells him that there's nothing he can do.  He hints to Hermione that
    they needed more time.  Being the clever girl that she is, Hermione
    immediately knew that he was telling her to use the time turner that
    she had been using all year to get to her classes.  She sets the time
    turner to bring them back three hours prior so they can save Buckbeak,
    then save Sirius.
<*> After saving Buckbeak from his execution, Harry and Hermione wait across
    the lake from where their other selves were.  Harry was very anxious to
    see who their rescuer was, since he believe it was his father.  Time
    passed and still no one showed up.  Then he realized that he saw himself,
    not his father.
                           **REPEL THE DEMENTORS.**
Your goal is to hit the Dementor closest to Sirius Black.  To do this, you'll
have to cast Expecto Patronum spells, guide it across the lake through
the huge crowd of Dementors, and aim the spell at the main Dementor that's
trying to suck out Black's soul.
For an even more powerful Expecto Patronum spell, hold down the spell button
for a few seconds and Harry will automatically release it once it's fully
charged.  Unlike the previous Patronum spells, this spell takes on the form of
a stag.  You can charge through the crowd of Dementors by holding down the "X"
button.  You can take out about two to three Dementors with this powerful
spell.
It's impossible to hit the Dementor (next to Sirius) right away.  You can try
to weave your spell through the crowd of Dementors, but it's extremely
difficult.  The easiest way to reach the main Dementor is to first clear a path
among the crowd of Dementors.
Blast away at the crowd of Dementors and just focus on taking out the
Dementors that are blocking the way to the main Dementor and Sirius Black.
You don't really need to charge up the spell at this point because that takes
time, and ever second counts!  (However, keep in mind that a more powerful
Patronus spell can take down two to three Dementors at one time.)  When you
form a decent gap in the crowd of Dementors, cast a fully charged Expecto
Patronum spell and have the stag CHARGE ("X" button) all the way to the
Dementor closest to Sirius Black.  You must hit this Dementor five times end
the battle.
<*> The stag that Harry conjures using the Expecto Patronum spell chases
    the Dementors across the lake.  Sirius Black will be captured soon, so
    Harry and Hermione hides from view once again.
<*> Sirius is locked in the tower.  Macnair, the executioner leaves the castle
    to fetch the Dementors.  This is Harry's only chance to save Sirius.
              **FLY BUCKBEAK TO THE DARK TOWER TO RESCUE SIRIUS.**
You can only play as Harry for now. You have 118 seconds to complete this task.
Approach Buckbeak and bow so you can climb onto his back.  You will have to fly
to the tower where Sirius is being held. This tower is located around the
courtyard where you collected the Dragonflies.  It's very easy to spot since
it's the only lit tower there.  The tower is very small so you may trouble
landing.  If you miss it, just circle around and try again.
<*> Harry frantically tells Sirius to escape since the Dementors are coming for
    him.  Before Sirius leaves, he commends Harry and tells him how much he is
    like his father.
because you can't redo the lessons/challenges.  Here's a breakdown of the
total house points.
*  For lost items, please -> SECTION XI:  Gryffindor Notice Board Items.  Even
   though Buckbeak is gone, another Hippogriff has taken its place.  Use the
   Hippogriff to look for lost items in the grounds.
XV.    Mini-Games + Eye Toy Games                                   [#GAMES]
*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*-===-*
There are three mini-games that can be accessed while playing the game or from
the main menu.  In the main menu, go to "Bonus Activity" and select
"Mini-Games".  The three games to choose from are:  Dueling Club, Owl Racing
and Hippogriff Flight Challenge.  In the game, the Dueling Club is set in the
Great Hall, Owl Racing takes place near the Stone Circle, and the Hippogriff
Flight Challenge can be accessed in the middle on the field between Hagrid's
Hut and the castle.
                                1. DUELING CLUB
If you join the Dueling Club during the game, you can only play as Harry, Ron
and/or Hermione.  If you select Dueling Club from the MINI-GAMES option in the
menu, you can choose to play as either:
Gryffindor A (Harry, Ron and Hermione)
Gryffindor B (other students)
Slytherin  A (Draco, Crabbe and Goyle)
Slytherin  B (other students)
Hufflpuff
Ravenclaw
GOAL:  Knock down all opponents first.
=====
TIPS:  Don't stand around too long or you'll be a standing target.  Use the
=====  dodge ability to avoid spells if you can't run away fast enough.  You
       can only use two spells: Flipendo and Expelliarmus.  Your opponents
       have about four different spells: Flipendo, Expelliarmus, a spell
       that turns your head into a pumpkin (Penilifors?), and a spell that's
       like a stink bomb and makes you cough (Stelious?).
                                2.  OWL RACING
To owl race in the game, stand on the circular panel besides the Stone Circle
just outside the castle.  If you select Owl Racing from the MINI-GAMES in the
menu, you can choose which owl to fly (Fiddletick, Pollylolly, Berl or Newt).
GOAL:  Like in all racing games, your goal should be to cross the finish line
=====  first.
       You will have to fly around Hogwarts through a series of rings.  You
       only have a few seconds between each ring, so make sure you don't miss
       it!
TIPS:  Push and hold the "O" button after every flap to make the owl go faster.
=====  You can also hold down the "O" button but the owl won't fly as fast.
                        3. HIPPOGRIFF FLIGHT CHALLENGE
To Play the Hippogriff Flight Challenge during the game, stand on the circular
panel located between Hagrid's hut and the castle and push the "X" button.
Only Harry and Hermione can ride Buckbeak.  You can also access this mini-game
from the main menu.  Choose a rider (Harry or Hermione) and choose a
Hippogriff to ride.
GOAL:  Eat all twenty bats before the time runs out.
=====
TIPS:  Push the "O" button to lift off from the ground.  To fly, you will have
       to continuously hit the "O" button to have Buckbeak flap its wings, but
       don't just hit the "O" rapidly.  Push and hold the button after each
       flap.
You have 159 seconds to eat all the bats.  It's easy to spot the bats since
they're in a cloud of mist.  The more bats you eat the higher the grade you
will receive.
                           =====GETTING STARTED=====
To start a game, select the GNOME (PLAY) from the menu.  Next, choose the
number of players from one through four.  Once the number of players have been
selected you will have to take a photo.  Choose either NORMAL (left) or HARD
(right) to take the photo and be sorted into a House.  The sorting is by
random, so don't be offended if you get sorted into a House you dislike~
1.  DE-GNOMING        Swat the Gnomes away with your hand.  Hit the Gnomes
                      on the targets to get more points.  When the Gnomes
                      hit the targets they may bounce back towards you and
                      crack the screen.
2.  ZONKO'S JOKE      Drop as many Dungbombs as you can by waving your hand
    SHOP              over them.  Clap your hands over the parcel of Stink
                      Pellets (green), Frog Spawn Soap and the Hiccough Sweets
                      to clean the screen.  The messier the screen is when
                      you clear it, the more points you will receive.  Don't
                      bother hitting the soap or candy if your screen is
                      near spotless.
                      HINT:  Clap your hands over the Stink Pellet parcel
                             when the screen is covered in Dungbomb for
                             more points.  The Hiccough Sweets will slightly
                             clear the screen, but the Frog Spawn Soap will
                             clear the entire screen.
3.  EXPLODING SNAP    Match a card with the snap card that is dealt.  The more
                      correct consecutive matches you make, the higher your
                      score will be.
4.  GOBSTONES         Hit the Gobstones as they fly across the screen.  If you
                      hit the Gobstone and it explodes on another Gobstone's
                      gob/spit (red ring), you will get bonus points.  Don't
                      hit the prickly Gobstones (looks like a Durian) because
                      it will push away the other non-prickly Gobstones.
5.  CHOCOLATE FROGS   Clap your hands over as many frogs as you can.
                      HINT:  The frog on the other side of the window is worth
                             more points.  The dark brown and gold chocolate
                             frogs vary in points.
6.  SEEKER PRACTICE   Keep your hand on the Snitch as it zooms around the
                      screen while avoiding the Bludger.  The Bludger is
                      unpredictable and can bounce from one end of the screen
                      to the other in a split second.
Q.  Is the game the same for other consoles?
A.  I believe so.  I have the game for PS2 and Xbox and they are exactly the
    same, but the buttons are different of course.  I'm not sure about the
    Gamecube version, but I'm betting it's the same too.
Q.  What's the maximum house points?
A.  The maximum House Points you can earn is 500.  Here is a breakdown of the
    House Points:
Q.  What does the record player on the fifth floor do?
A.  During the night you (Harry and Ron) save Neville from the Ghoul on the
    fifth floor, you will come across a broken record player.  You will need
    HERMIONE to cast REPARO on the record player to unlock a [TB] nearby that
    contains some beans.
Q.  What's behind the heavy gate on the fifth floor where the duel between
    Harry/Ron v. Slytherin took place?
A.  It's just more [TB]'s with beans.  Have HERMIONE crawl under the gates
    while Harry and Ron are holding it up.  Open the [TB] with beans and
    continue to the next room.  Here you have two blocks, a broken crate, and
    some evil duck toys.  Destroy the evil toys so you can move the blocks
    freely without getting hurt.  Move one block next to the automobile so you
    can climb to the area above.  Repair the broken crate and push it off the
    edge SO IT FALLS ONTO THE BLOCK YOU USED TO CLIMB UP ON.  They should be
    stacked on top of each other now.  Drop down and move these two blocks
    against the bookshelf.  Now, move the final block against the two blocks
    that are stacked up to form something like steps of a staircase.  Climb
    up the blocks to find a Dragon Statue.  Cast DRACONIFORS on the statue to
    reveal an opening.  Go through the opening to the next room, then through
    another door to get a [TB] of beans.
Q.  What's behind the big statue on the First Floor Corridor?
A.  That big statue is GREGORY THE SMARMY, which is one of the statues on
    HERMIONE'S STATUE CHALLENGE list (-> Section XIII.  Hermione's Statue List
    and Location for more information).  There are two secret openings behind
    this statue--one on the left side, and one on the right.  To open the
    left wall panel, have HARRY cast CARPE RETRACTUM on the lever above the
    vase that is directly behind GREGORY THE SMARMY.  Inside the opening you'll
    find a [TB] with beans.  To open the right wall panel, use RON to push on
    the wall.  There's a stink pellet pot here for RON'S STINK PELLET POT
    CHALLENGE (-> Section XIV.  Ron's Stink Pellet Pot Locations for more
    information).
