Grand Theft Auto 3: Vehicle Guide v.1

Hello, and welcome to my first issue on Grand Theft Auto 3: Vehicle Guide. When
I first saw some screenshots of this game in September last year, I was stunned.
The graphics were phenomenal; I knew that we were in for a treat. Soon, the game
was released, and was shifting copies faster than you can say ´Gangster´. We
were not to be disappointed; we were treated to a piece of gaming history. Since
then I have been playing that game more times than you have eaten hot meals, I
have discovered many skills and strategies during the game, but one of the
things that fascinated me the most was the variety of cars. In this guide I
will go through and explain every single car in the game, what benefits that car
has, and what is bad about the car. I will be using this template:

Car Name:
Car Speed:(out of 10)
Car Strength:(out of 10)
Description:(my opinion on the vehicle)
Rarity:(out of 10- 1 being the rarist, 10 the most popular)
Found:(which island?)

1.0 Common Vehicles:

These are the vehicles you are most likely to see roaming the streets of Liberty
City.

Car Name: Banshee
Car Speed: 8
Car Strength: 4
Description: Probably the slowest of all the sports cars, but still faster than
most other vehicles. It´s slightly tougher than the likes of the Cheetah and
Stinger, but expect too much abuse.
Rarity: 5
Found: Easy credit autos in Portland, or most places in Staunton or Shoreside.

Car Name: Blista
Car Speed: 6
Car Strength: 5
Description: This people carrier is not built for speed! However it is tougher
than most normal cars. Sometimes this may be your only option as there are just
so many of them. Be careful not to roll at high speed.
Rarity: 8
Found: Staunton and Shoreside only.

Car Name: Bobcat
Car Speed: 3
Car Strength: 7
Description: A real workhorse, the bobcat has the strength to make up for it´s
poor speed. It´s big enough to push most traffic out of the way, but due to slow
acceleration, you will need a long run-up.
Rarity: 6
Found: Almost everywhere

Car Name: Cabbie
Car Speed: 4
Car Strength: 6
Description: This may get the job done, just not very quickly. It´s size makes
it tougher than most, but lack of speed let´s it down as a getaway vehicle.
Press R3 to start the taxi mission, described in the ´Vehicle Missions´ section.
Rarity: 4
Found: Staunton

Car Name: Cheetah
Car Speed: 10
Car Strength: 2

but as with these sports cars, a few knocks and it´s finished.
Rarity: 5
Found: Staunton and Shoreside only.

Car Name: Esperanto
Car Speed: 6
Car Strength: 6
Description: This big gas-guzzler is another common sight in Liberty City. It´s
speed and strength are slightly above average and should get you through minor
police interference, but the acceleration is slow.
Rarity: 7
Found: Almost everywhere.

Car Name: Idaho
Car Speed: 7
Car Strength: 6
Description: Similar to the Esperanto, this is another seventies throwback. It´s
speed is slightly better than that of the Esperanto, but their strength is about
the same - another good getaway vehicle.
Rarity: 4
Found: Almost everywhere.

Car Name: Infernus
Car Speed: 10
Car Strength: 2
Description: As fast as the Cheetah, nothing can catch you when you are behind
the wheel, unless you crash! As you would expect, it can´t take much damage and
will soon burst into flames if you mistreat it.
Rarity: 5
Found: Staunton and Shoreside only.

Car Name: Kuruma
Car Speed: 7
Car Strength: 6
Description: You´ll see them almost everywhere. With good acceleration, speed

missions. The FBI used an advanced version, good luck trying to steal one!
Rarity: 8
Found: Mostly Portland.

Car Name: Landstalker
Car Speed: 6
Car Strength: 6
Description: Another popular choice for Liberty City citizens, this 4X4 is quite

corner too quickly and you´ll find yourself rolling down the road.
Rarity: 7
Found: Staunton Island, sometimes Shoreside.

Car Name: Manana
Car Speed: 4
Car Strength: 4

Car Name: Perennial
Car Speed: 4
Car Strength: 5

unless absolutely necessary.
Rarity: 6
Found: Mainly in Portland.

Car Name: Pony
Car Speed: 4
Car Strength: 6

Car Name: Hoods Rumpo
Car Speed: 7
Car Strength: 7
Description: This is the Hoods modified version of the Rumpo. It has a terrible

5.0 Vehicle Missions:

Certain vehicles allow you to perform missions when inside them to earn extra
cash. Press R3 to start them. All these missions are limited to the areas in
which you start them, so if you start a taxi mission in Staunton Island, you
won't be expected to go to Shoreside Vale.

Vigilante:

When in a police car or enforcer, you can chase other criminals and bring them
to justice. Once you've started the mission, a green dot will appear on the map.
Head over to it to find a criminal. Chase them and keep ramming them to try and
make them stop. Once they stop, they may get out, so run them over or shoot
them. Keep an eye on the clock to make sure you're not taking too long. If you
do get out of your vehicle, you will have 1 minute to return to it before the
mission ends. You can continue chasing chasing and killing criminals until the
time runs out or you die.

Paramedic:

When in an Ambulance it's possible to do a good deed and save people. Once the
mission has started, head to the green dot to find a patient and take them to
the hospital, but drive carefully as each impact reduces their chance of
survival. The missions go up a level each time, so level 2 requires you to
rescue 2 patients, level 3 to rescue 3 patients and so on. The ambulance will
hold a maximum of 3 patients, so you don't have to make to many trips, but you
don't have much time so don't hang about. If you get out of the ambulance, the
mission will automatically end.

Firefighter:

Being in a firetruck allows you to perform the firefighter missions. You don't
have a lot of time, so quickly get to the fire (represented by a green dot on
the map) and put it out with your water cannon. You can continue this mission
until time runs out, or you get out of the firetruck.

Taxi Driver:

When you steal a taxi, you can do some work as a taxi driver for extra work.
Simply pick up a fare and take them where they want to go. If you do it quickly
you'll get a speed bonus. If your car becomes too damaged, the passenger will
flee in terror and you won't be able to pick up another until it is repaired.
The mission ends when you get out of the taxi or run out of time.
