Grandia II User Reviews
Well, I never know how I'm going to rate something, and sometimes my ratings will change, usually meaning the fondness of it declines. I think I'm going to just go straight at this one.
The game had me questioning if I would like this title or not from the start because of the opening sequence. Though it wasn't bad, I felt it was very lacking in detail. The graphics just weren't up to par with today's games. Compare this opening to FFX's and you would understand why I say this. Next I get to see the in game characters, and at first I was shocked, but then I grew a little fond of the super d...
Not a bad storyline.
In some parts of the game you can hear the characters talking so its not all about reading text.
Long and extremely boring battle system.
When I seen the trailer for this game on the internet I could not wait to play Grandia 2 but when I did I was very dissapionted. I have read reviews on PS2 game console magazines saying that the best part of the game is the battle system. But believe me it is the worst thing about the game. Mainly because it takes so long to win the battles even when you are up against the weakest enemies it takes about 4 minutes and 7 minutes to defeat average enemies and about 25 minutes for the games bosses. The problem is that it is mainly an old shcool RPG. I guess the only thing good I can say about t...
The best battle system this side of FFX
Funny at times.
Compared to other PS2 games, the worst graphics this side of finger painting.Summary:
First of all...- *sigh* Another Dreamcast port to PS2? I bet that's what you're thinking. Well, whether or not you like to admit it, Grandia 2 is a good game. It's DAMN good. Now that it's on Playstation 2, you have no excuse to miss out on this wonderful gaming experience, unless you don't have a PS2. If that's the case then buy a Dreamcast for 40 bucks and Grandia 2 for another 15. You WILL play this game and enjoy it, damnit. Look into my EVIL eyes.
Visuals- 5.5 While these aren't the best graphics in the world, they're pretty average. Some of the spells and items use...
- the magic animations were amazing
- a very nice storyline
- an amazing character development system
- throughout the game you will use 6 different party members.. all unique
- zero loading times.. yup thats right
- you dont run slow like in some rpg's you move very quickly
- it isnt random battles... you can see your enemies and you can use a little strategy to get an "initiative" head
- Length took me 33 hrs take some or add..
Not much to be honest... apart from the magic animations the graphics are quite pathetic if i say so myself.. their just a bit outdated but you'll forget all about the bad graphics very very fast
- the menu at the beginning dosent look to good.. thats how picky i have to be people.
It's a great game and it is so worth buying. You should definitely pick this game up for sure. Im sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did just give it a chance. Just give it a chance.
The story i would say is one of this games best features, the graphics are very nice in some areas, its beautifully coloured, it has some really hot bright colours, the gameplay is good, the atmosphere is good but a little dark some of the time but not in a bad way like a real horror game. no!The bad:
The only bad thing i can think of is that it could have looked nice on the ps2 and shouldnt have been such a rushed port, but its still well worth while.Summary:
I would highly recommend this game for rpg gamers. I forgot to mention the voice acting, yeah the voice acting is very good i think, in this game there is humor, alot of sadness, and some mild horror, its very nicely put together, and the story i think is the best part of the game not to mention the battle system is great, its so much fun leveling up in this game maxing out skills and making them appear. If you liked final fantasy 7 alot then you should like this too, there are some really emotional sections in this game too. I played this game on the dreamcast and i played it on the ps2, t...
graphics and visuals, character customization, good storylineThe bad:
game difficulty, limited strategySummary:
I started on the original Grandia for PlayStation a couple of years back, when I started collecting role-playing games for the console. I don't remember too much about the original. It was linear and the characters were rather cutesy -- the girl in the party, Sue, did some kind of cheerleading thing to boost attack power. Anyhow, Grandia decided to put its sequel to the Dreamcast... and like any RPG-hungry guy, I picked it up.
The game begins with Ryudo, a Geohound -- or more precisely, someone who wanders the land filling odd jobs for clients. Ryudo's rough exterior has been tempered by hi...
