Gran Turismo is the handheld racing game from the Gran Turismo series; it was developed exclusively for the PSP. The aim of the game is simple, to complete races according to the provided objectives.
The game was developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony in 2009.
There are three main gamemodes with different objectives: Race, Drift Trial and Time Trial. The race mode pits the player in a battle against the AI as they race around the track, the Drift Trial requires the player to earn the most points as they drift around the track and the Time Trial urges the player to complete laps as quickly as possible.
Players have 45 unique tracks to race around and many of these have the option to be played on the reverse side, in total there are 72 tracks to compete on. There are 833 vehicles to select from and each one is based on a real life version; various car manufactures have officially licensed the game and it is the game in the series to feature Lamborghini and Bugatti cars.
The player only has access to lower ranked cars at the start of the game and as the game progresses they will be able to purchase new cars from different dealerships. Cars take no damage in races and the player does not need to pay for repairs or replacement cars.
Races have up to four racers in one instances and this is also true for the multiplayer mode; there can be up to four players in one instance with various gamemodes to select from. The multiplayer works through the local wireless and there are no online modes or leaderboards.
