Subject: Alone or Resident Evil?

In a vain attempt to breathe some life into this forum (only one other post?) I will spark a debate. Which is better - Alone in the Dark, or the Resident Evil series? I think that Alone is easily better than Evil 1, 2 and 3, leaving only Code: Veronica as a worthy challenger. Graphically, both are excellent, though Code: Veronica has the advantage of being in 3D, and therefore makes use of moving cameras. However, the light sourcing in Alone is incredible - really hightening the atmosphere. Aurally, both have a good, atmospheric set of tunes, though I think Code: Veronica's have the edge here. In terms of gameplay, they are quite similar. I think that Alone is actually scarier than Code: Veronica, thanks to the 'non-enemies' - where they suddenly all appear, then disappear. It keeps you on tender hooks
The puzzles in Alone area also harder, and makes you use the documents that you find. Code: Veronica has the better characters, though. In all honesty, I don't know which is the better game. Code: Veronica is more action based, with more enemies to kill, whereas Alone is more atmospheric. Verdict? Buy both

I have that game. and I think that alone in the dark is better now but resdent evil was cool in its day.

Resident Evil games are the best amd will always be the best because Wesker is in them hehe
and they have ever thing the best characters the best graphice... the best evey thing

Actually, having played Alone in the Dark more extensively, now, I have to agree with Selphie. I mean - the World of Darkness level was so boring! Just wandering around cave after cave, killing infinite enemies with a gun that had inifinite ammo thanks to those blue crystals. The last part ruined it for me, though it's still in no way a bad game. I think Resident Evil is better overall.

I think that code veronica was a VERY cool game!!..i have freaky dreams where all i remember when i wake up is the zombie moans!!!....and so far alone is quite good...although i dont think i will ever finish the damn game!!!lol

im a FAN of RPGs and Resident Evil (Biohazard) is 1 of them...i would play dis ova and ova at night of course is the best tym:P;)...u can change 2 different cloth at the start if u do somthins and also other bonus afta u finish..
i finish all the resident evil cept 4 the 1st 1 and i want 2 play the 1z on Dreamcast...
i've c the 1z like Resident Evil on Dreamcast but havent played it because i think Dreamcast sux^_^ it doesnt hav much gamez but som good 1z;) mayb if they made jus 1 console which can play all games and they join 2gether, it would b mad^_^ if tat made sense:P

I've only got Alone in the Dark, and personally think that it was too short. The storyline was good while it lasted and it did make me jump once or twice, but apart from that it was rubbish. The weapons killed enemies too easily and the monsters were too stupid. I just hope that if they make a new Alone in the Dark it is a lot longer.

1. Resident Evil's visuals were the better in my opinion
2. Alone in the Dark was slow compared to Resident evil
3. Although Alone in the Dark had better puzzles and a longer gameplay time, Resident Evil was still better overall
Maybe it's because I've been an RE fan for a good 2 years of my life, but I would never pick AitD over RE:|

when i first got the game it reminded me about resident evil but i think if i had to rate them they be the same not much different but now the monster eat all your ammo up plus its real dark and u get to use a flashlight thats bout the only deferents.

Definitely RESIDENT EVIL.
I'm not comparing graphics or sounds here, I'm just saying that playing AITD didn't have the same effect on me as playing RE.
The Characters and Protagonists are more compelling. The story is way better. The way they blend in cutscenes at the right time is amazing.
I got to admit, I don't really like it, when enemies just "appear" out of thin air. Even if thay are called shadow monsters. So thats a plus for RE as well.When you enter a room, you know the enemies are already here, you can see, when you got all of them, and that still doesn't mean its boring. you're still always staying alert, because the enemies can still surprise you, like jumping through windows, breaking through walls etc. way better than just appearing!!!
And I was also disappointed of the last part of AITD the new nightmare... was there an endboss battle, or wath was that in the caves in the end? I couldnt figure it out...
RE is a way richer game experience if you ask me!!!
