Suda51 games don't come along every day, so don't feel weird about being excited for Killer is Dead. A load of new screenshots have popped up today, showing Mondo in battle and just hanging around, getting smacked by Natalia.
The highlight of the combat screenshots might just be the enemies we're seeing, and there's quite a variety of them trying to kill Mondo. In addition to a boss creature, the regular enemies dispatched by Wire are named Guard Weak and Big Guard. For the most part, the images have Mondo wielding his sword, Gekkou, against them. After enough attacks -- and absorbing enough enemy blood -- the sword will glow and allow Mondo to pull off chain attacks and dish out more damage. In addition to that, the sword lets Mondo pull off a variety of dodge and block moves. For ranged fans, there's Mondo's "sub-weapon," that arm of his turning into a gun.
Good luck trying to make out the details in these, though, because just staring at still images of Killer is Dead is enough to give me a slight case of motion sickness. Then again, it just wouldn't be a Grasshopper Manufacture game without the flash.
We do get to see Mondo not kicking ass, too, as he sits down with a woman named Natalia during one his Gigolo missions (classy, I know). The blonde is a Brazilian lady known as "Pheromone," and in today's batch of screenshots, we see Mondo trying to woo her. Succeed, and she'll let you give her a present to win her over. If you fail, Mondo gets smacked.
Special Gigolo Glasses also aid on these... special missions. The black-framed ones allow Mondo to see through a woman's clothing. Yes, I mean literally (extra classy).
Killer is Dead is expected to come out this summer for Xbox 360 and PS3.
