Monolith and Warner Bros. revealed today that their upcoming console-only MOBA, Guardians of Middle-Earth, would be arriving first on Xbox LIVE Arcade, with an unspecified fall release. The PS3 version will be coming a little later, on December 4.
For both consoles, the Lord of the Rings MOBA will be available both through retailers and digitally, via XBLA and PSN. The game will also be utilizing the ever-popular Season Pass method of DLC purchase. You can grab the game on its own, too, of course. If you pick up a hard copy of the game for either PS3 or Xbox 360, however, you'll automatically have discounted access to post-launch DLC. Makes sense, considering the retail copies will be going for $29.99, while digital versions are lower at $14.99.
Right now, it sounds like the upcoming add-on content will include some stuff inspired by The Hobbit movie -- some maps, a bonus game mode, additional characters. How much of that is based on the movie, however, we're not sure of.
