-------------------------------------------
i just got this idea from something i mentioned in another forum...so suppose that you suddenly lose your mind, and start seeing things that you like...be it a dead loved one, a fictional character, or whatever else, and have the ability to 'interact', for lack of a better word, with this person, character, or thing (or things). youve clearly snapped. now comes the real question - would you seek help, knowing full well that this is your mind playing tricks on you, or would you enjoy it, and not seek help, just to keep your mental entity around?

That depends on whether or not the hallucinations would make me dysfunctional.

I'd enjoy it. I'm already a little lacking in the mental facilities, so why not have some fun with it.

well how dysfunctional would you be before you draw the line? clearly losing the ability to work would be a problem, but something like becoming a little more antisocial perhaps? i dunno, this isnt a specific question, which i left as such just for variety.

If I can't work or socialize, I'd get help. If it hindered me in no considerable manner, why worry about it? I would not really be in need of help then.

Since I have been insane for the last few years, I have been enjoying it so why not keep it going eh

Depends on the severity of it. If it succumbs me to not being able to get things done and distracts me and becomes very cumbersome.

Insane people do not realize that they are insane -- for the most part, they believe everything is normal.
So I probably wouldn't end up seeking any professional help. :0P

Knowing how I am, do neither... just ignore it.
So what if I see a dead person or something... I'd just ignore it.

If it's interfering with my life and making me lose touch with reality, I'd definitely seek help. I don't want to live in a world where I can't determine which is real and which is not.

If I was insane then wouldn't I think whatever my insanity makes me think to be the status quo? Unless I also get like a split personality and one of them know that one is insane, I wouldn't seek help.

I just wouldn't get enjoyment out of the hallucinations if I knew they weren't real. It's like eating fat-free desserts. Maybe I couldn't tell the difference if I didn't know any better, but I do, dammit.

If it were insanity you wouldn't realise it, but I get the question. I'd probably mention it if I knew I was seeing things. I definitely see things anyway and talk about that.

My grandpa started having these types of problems, he thought a girl named "Sarah" was haunting him. He decided to get "help" and the doctors thought it wise to give him Oxycontin (synthetic heroin). Ultimately, my grandpa ended up driving off a bridge. I'm scared the same mental problems are inevitable for my mom and I. I can already see the signs. Living in an alternative reality is scary as *bleep* for yourself and everyone around you. Anyone who's had a bad trip on shrooms can attest to that...

I can't imagine anyone would WANT to live like that....

Ugh tell me about. Partially all of these "reality" shows are corrupting and desecrating young minds alike.
