After the heights of last season my team has decided that they can't be assed doing it again. Getting dicked in. The league by teams like Levante and Getafe ffs while drawing to Porto and Juventus in the CL and have two games against City next after they smashed five past Juve and two past Porto. Tough times ahead at San Mames, don't want to sign anyone either...

I started a match with Muniain in AML and he played shit. I put him as ST for the second half and he scored two goals. Gonna keep him there

Played 9 matches while Llorente was out. Here are the results:
1-3 Levante
2-3 Real Madrid
0-4 Real Madrid
0-1 Real Madrid
1-1 Espanyol
1-1 Sevilla
3-1 Partizan
1-1 Racing
0-0 Partizan

And then he returns and we do this:
6-0 vs Getafe

Hope its a sign of things to come.
Got Spurs in the EURO Cup 2nd knockout round.

Just Finished my first season.

Came second and won the cup!

Got very lucky with injuries. Key period was around february when I played Real Madrid 4 times in 4 weeks. Won 2-0 at home in the semi finals then went their place in the league and snatched a 1-0. Then drew 3-3 in the return leg of the cup and finally I smashed them at home 3-1. Mourinho hates my guts haha.

This looks like a really good and intrresting game, might start one to run alongside my other save as i get bored after a bit on one, are there a lot of good young basque players to sign for u19s at the start?

I signed about six youngsters so far, just send your scouts out in Spain with Age max 16 and potential at least 3*. But I'd start looking properly next season.

Just started as Bilbao, been dreadfully inconsistent. Beat Roma 4-2 in the Europa League before losing 5-0 at home to Villareal. Was 2-0 down at half-time so went to 'Overload' which left me 1 defender at the back against 4 attackers for the rest of the game. That didn't end well.

One 3 and a half star and two 3 star are the decent regens that I got.
The rest are three 2 and a half star, one 2 star, one 1 and a half star, one 1 star and seven half star.

Outside of Basque, one of my favorite FM players who I haven't been able to sign, Yann M'Vila, is available for 13M.Of all the saves that I've played before where I could sign him it was always upwards 30M for him now that I can't he's transfer listed.

Edit: Arteta is now showing up on my filtered player search but I have no idea how much he'd cost or want because I can't scout in England. Bleep. Arsenal are 10th(City is 9th with Stoke 2nd) after 30 rounds so I guess thats why he's showing up because he isn't transfer listed and has been playing regularly.

Edit 2: I thought my 6-0 win over Real was something but look at what our rivals did to them.

Real Madrid are a team that i just can't ever seem to beat on the FM series! I've just started playing FM12 again, after months off of it.
I never actually got into a game, before i bought MW3, then Battlefield!

Athletic Bilbao will hopefully be a good game for me.
I've only played 3 friendlies, against the B team, what looks like an under 23 side, Baskonia? and Millwall.
Lined up 4-3-2-1 and i think i'll stick to that throughout the season as a lot of teams and FM players seem to use it.
I don't plan on buying or selling anyone in the first season, unless injury strikes!

Any hints/tips at all?

Set Llorente to target man but don't select supply to head or feet, have it mixed.
Benat is pretty good buy, good freekick taker and can play many roles in CM.

Cheers RM99! Llorente is my target man, the guy is a beast! Literally, how tall is he?!
I'm hoping for Muniain and Susaeta to play off of him more, but maybe i'd need to play 4-3-3 for that to work?

I also wouldnt mind Javi Martinez playing as a ball playing central defender, that acts as a 4th midfielder but this is pretty hard to replicate in FM as i have found out!

EDIT: My scouts reccomended Benat, i did think about buying him for his quality in dead ball situations and as a decent all round back up. How much did you get him for?

I used the same formation as you and Susaeta and Muniain have done well.
Susaeta in the RW as a winger attack and Muniain in the LW as an inside forward.
Susaeta - 33(2) app. 15 goals and 13 assists.
Muniain - 37(10) app. 16 goals and 21 assists.

Javi Martinez was great for me as a Box to Box Midfielder.
40(10) app. 13 goals and 15 assists.

Wow! Susaeta and Muniain were awesome for you! I am expecting big things from the latter! He's doing well in the friendlies so far. The opposition isn't great though, just thrashed Portugalete 8-0 so it's not really a test, but i am somewhat of an FM 12 newbie still!

Javi Martinez i have also deployed as a btb midfielder after reading through this thread.
I can well imagine my Athletic side, bossing the midfield against good teams, there is a very good balance there.

How have you found the defence? San Jose and Amorebieta look solid for me.

I will try for Azpilicueta in next summer's window.
