Hopefully we should get a few of these links moved to the top of the page, but for now here's a few links to the other Super Smash Bros. forums.

Super Smash Bros. | Super Smash Bros. Melee | Super Smash Bros. Brawl

It will be best if we all post new information in the same thread to keep everything organized.

The Super Smash Bros. 4 project is being overseen by Masahiro Sakurai (HAL). The game features the option to play crossplatform with the SSB in development for Wii U.

>>> Development on the game will begin once Kid Icarus is finished, with the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game engine being used as a starting platform. Additionally, Sakurai would like to place an emphasis on character development for the 3DS version. Players could train their character through battle/rewards while playing on 3DS, then transfer their data to Wii U to battle others. Ideally, this would create a more personal experience since players would be able to carry their 3DS with them.

I guess that inter-platform connectivity has been somewhat confirmed, if it hasn't been already.

Yes, as well as a Wii U version. Sakurai is aiming for solid cross platform connectivity this time around.

That sounds like some form of upgrade to the sticker system in Subspace. That sounds fun, but I really hope that some features on the WIIU version aren't cut out unless you have the 3DS version. That would suck.

I'll probably get SSB4 after a year or so so the prices for a 3DS and a Wii-U goes down.

I disagree, it wouldn't be fair to those that don't have a 3DS.
I'd play a home console over a handheld, but I'm not paying for both. I'm too poor ):

If there is cross platform support. Maybe time will be made to create decent online servers now. I think lag has screwed over a lot of people on there.

Oops, that was a screw-up on my part. The word was supposed to be "aren't" hence the that would suck part hehe.

Oh, well nvm then. ^^
Still, who knows what'll happen. I know for a fact theres gonna be something everyone'll hate (hopefully not tripping lol) but I'm not expecting much info just yet. Maybe small pieces here and there.

Not that I'm suggesting this thread is useless or anything

Would the 3DS version be compatible on the "ordinary" DS?

The 3DS is a completely different console from the original DS.

That's like asking if a DS game is compatible with the Gameboy Advance.

Snarky comment aside, no it won't be compatible.

Oh, I thought the analogy was more like

3DS : DS :: Advance SP : Advance

Thanks; I'm not really in the loop for consoles.
