Subject: Skyrim Class Build: Paladin or Death Knight
-------------------------------------------
After a long play to level 81 with my Argonian duel-wielder on Skyrim, I would like to create a secondary character, yea I know the classes are based off WoW a little bit, but I dont really care.
Yes, I know there isnt classes on Skyrim...
Class Builds
-----------------
Race: ?
Class: Paladin
1-h mace, restoration, heavy armor, smithing, destruction fire?
Race: ?
Class: Death Knight
2-h sword or axe, conjuration, heavy armor, smithing, destruction frost
which one do you think I should go with, and is there any improvements to be made to those builds, I cant decide between the two...

The 'paladin' build you seem to have is the one i'd go for personally but thats because i dislike two handed weapons. Both builds are viable in the long term.

k thanks, probably end up going with paladin anyway, 2 handed weapons just seem to be to slow, despite having the most damage output of weapons per strike

Actually Paladin is D&D but thats ok.
The original Paladin can detect evil upto 60ft, which would translate to 'Detect Dead' so Alteration.
Instead of 1-Handed.... have the option of, 1-handed & Block, or 2-Handed.
Immunity to disease was another paladin trait.
And theyre very charismatic, so Speech.

Redguard would be a good paladin. But death knight...Imperial.

thanks for the history on them

never researched paladins past WoW...
I was thinking 1-handed mace with a spell in the other hand though, but shields maybe, and actually detect dead isnt a bad idea, no point of immunity to disease right now, stupid patch 1.2 broke that til 1.3 comes out..., might use speech to idk
Thanks

Imperials are original for everything..., but I just HATE imperials and the Empire, reasons why I always go stormcloaks, but I really want Ulfrics robes...

Hircine No problem, ive been trying to do something similar... to come up with something original. Couldnt think of a thing, then i saw you mention Paladin & i got one of my old D&D books out, i got all the details.

The lawful good thing would do my head in, but some people might be ok with it.

I would go with the Paladin, but I'd also put things into Block, because when you aren't healing, you can be blocking. ^^;
As for Races, idk if you have decided, but I'd go with Breton for the Paladin and Orc for the Death Knight, should you choose it.

I say paladin easily but that's because I really really dispise two handed weapons with a passion. The knight I'd good but with one handed instead.

I just started a Paladin a couple of days ago, putting points into Smithing, Enchanting, Heavy Armor, some Archery (instead of a ranged destruction focus), Restoration, eventually Speech, and Two Handed Weapons.
Somewhat regretting the Two Handed choice, as the time spent for each swing as well as the stamina cost makes a miss very taxing. However, being a Nord gave me extra starting points in most of these skills and it really is nice cleaving into an enemy with a metal object the length of myself. Smithing and Enchanting go together like peas and carrots, and will help me make up for in buffs what I lack choosing another race and not going Alteration or Block. Same with Restoration.
I realize Archery is not really that true to your usual Paladin, but this game is about choice, and I wont play without some sort of ranged offense.

For paladin i think that you should definently go 1 handed sword, or mace and switch off between shield and healing. as for races porbably breton or impoerial.
As for death knigh I think two handed sword or axe, heavy armor, Conjuration and frost destruction
For both of theses classes smithing, enchanting, and heavy armor will make it more enjoyible.

I always thought of a paladin as being restoration with a strong concentration in magic and health but little in fatigue as they would just restore themselves with magic? I haven't done a specific class on skyrim I usually just play and see what happens but I did do both a DK and a paladin on oblivion I found that the DK was by far the more effective as the sheer amount of damage a well enchanted two handed weapon can dish out can put down most enemies in a few minutes and when I did my orc on skyrim I killed the first dragon in a few hits using a steel two handed axe and ive never really noticed a problem with the stamina as I usually raise my rest right at the start
