Easily the greatest food creation on the game. Elseweyr Fondue.
+25% magicka regen and +100 magicka for 720 seconds.
I didnt even know you could cook in this game until I browsed the achievements and found out you could.
For any mages out there that stick to the old ways with robes and buffed out mana regen (swk3000 Im looking at you), this is one helluva buff that you can get pretty easily and keep up through most dungeons in only one use.
Played all the way to level 72 and 3/4 before I ever knew about this.
Fail.

It's great...if you actually remember to use Food. I don't. Mainly because I haven't come across a reliable source for the ingredients. Ale is easy; any Inn or Tavern will have it. Moon Sugar is also easy, as the Khajiit Caravans always have 5 in stock at a time. Unfortunately, the Caravans move, so you never know where they are at any given time, making them unreliable. Finally, Eidar Cheese Wheel is hard to find. You can't use the Sliced Eidar Cheese, or the Sliced Eidar Cheese Wheel; it has to be the uncut wheel. And that's hard to find.
One easy to get ingredient out of three makes for an item that's nice to have, but too difficult to reliably make. It therefore isn't worth bothering with. I've only been able to make a grand total of 3 in the entire time I was interested in doing so. And I played that character all the way through the Mage's Guild.

Riverwood Inn carries Eidar Cheese wheel, usually 3-4 of them every 2 days.
Its the moon sugar I always had the aggravation trying to find.

The only location I've ever found Moon Sugar is the Khajiit Caravans, and the fact that they move makes them unreliable. If they stayed in one spot, it would be a lot easier.
Also, I'll keep an eye on the Riverwood Inn. I never think to check that particular inn; I mostly check Whiterun, since my house is there.

I've seen them a couple of times. The first time I hit Whiterun, they were camped outside by the stables. Unfortunately, I have no idea what their route is, so it's a hit-or-miss sort of thing, with misses being the most common.

The only time ive ever seen them is when one of their characters was involved in a quest. I think that happened twice. I know for sure that they do end up sitting just outside Whiterun, so in a worst case scenario I could sit and wait in 12 hour increments until they showed up.
Here's hoping that they dont have Fallout3/Fallout New Vegas caravan problems where they are actually travelling in real time while youre across the map doing something else, and some random creature or enemy attacks and kills them on the road.

I've only ever seen the caravans outside Markarth, I think. I was level 30ish at the time, so I doubt there are any caravan travels-and-gets-killed-by-random-encounter bugs.

I'd think that getting caravans to appear would be easy. If you have problems finding them then go to Dawnstar and wait by the patch of "dirt" or what looks to be uncovered of snow. Look away from that patch and wait for any time you want. After a certain time a group of Kahjit in a caravan appear. You can buy from the one in the tent. She tends to sell for my level, a few about 3 of the moonsugars.

I usually have the most luck finding the Khajiit Caravans outside Windhelm.
As for the Elsweyr Fondue, yeah, I used a few in my time. Certainly very useful.

There is a quest you can do for the travelinf kahjit, something to do with a moon amulet. Anyways, after retrieving said amulet the caravan's position will be displayed on the map. So my advice would be to retrieve the amulet and just not return it to them, this way you can always keep tabs on them. Even maybe map their route

I haven't tried this, but I think you might be able to lock the caravan near the Windhelm Stables. You'd have to complete the Thalmore Embassy quest with Malborn alive then meet up with him in Windhelm, and then accept his quest but not complete it.
It'd be cool if someone tries this and posts if it works. I already saved past this point in my game.
Btw, I know this thread is months old, but thought I'd post in case anyone looks this up!

Moon Sugar isn't all that uncommon in Apothacary Shoppes, and there's lots of bandit Camps with it. Also, the Kajit Camp outside whiterun sells it on a bi-daily basis. I have a few characters who hotkey Fondue for when it wears off in a fight. Actually better than any potion I can think of, and you don't have to level/perk Alchemy. Since they're all identical, they even Stack! Easilly one of the best brews in the game. Just keep an eye out for the ingredients, with the duration, and how often I actually need it, I can keep a decent supply throughout the game.
