So, I was downloading a game on my phone today and a question struck me.
If, say, game companies gave you the option of buying a lower price game at the expense of it having adverts in it, would you take it? Of course, they'd sell the game advert free too. I mean adverts during loading screens/before after the loading screen and at the sides of the screens, etc, like you might find in a mobile game.

Honestly to me it would depend on how much I like the game and how much the ad-free version costed compared to the advertisement version. If it was a game that I just played every now and then, I'd probably go for the version with advertisements. If it was a game that I played every day and my friends all played it, then yeah I'd probably fork out the extra monies for the ad-free version.

As long as the ads are not intrusive I wouldn't mind having a game with ads, although it's a really common business plan nowadays.
Just don't show me ads in the middle of gameplay or on scenes. Then I really don't mind. Maybe they can give me something fun to stare at in loading times rather than black screens.

as long as they weren't annoying and put in every 5 seconds then id buy them. if i liked them enough to want to get without ads then id do that as well. but it has also struck me that the ipod games with ads are free as where some (i.e. words with friends) are like 99 cents or $1.99... so keeping with that kind of thing, the games on the 360 which are usually $40-$60 would then be more like $10-$30. same for the other systems. it would kill the company's sales. maybe...
if something seems wrong with this let me know...

I would never pay less for a game to have advertising in it.

I probably would if they didn't get in the way of the game too much. Pop up ads during games would suck.

Skate 2 has adverts all over the game and I paid full price for that shit.
What I find most annoying is that the game was released in 2009, and while the adverts still get updated to current things, the game itself hasn't had anything new added in ages.

I'd pay for the game with no adverts in, always.
But if it was for a mobile phone game, I wouldn't mind

Free version plz.
If both ad-free and not ad-free aren't free, I'd rather go ad-free.

As long as they didn't interfere with the game, I wouldn't mind.

It would depend on the game. If it were something I was really looking forward to (the next Pokemon, the next Assassin's Creed, etc) then no I'd buy full price with no ads. However, if I were on the fence about buying something, then I would probably go for a cheaper but ad filled game. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad deal for a hypothetical game with ads to allow for ad-free dlc in case you end up really liking the game and get annoyed by the ads. That way if you hate the game, you only lose half your money on a bad deal, but if you like it you could opt out of the ads without rebuying the ad-free game.
Of course, all of this is on the assumption that the ads wouldn't be overly annoying. Like others said, a quick ad during a loading screen would be okay, but most loading screens aren't longer than 10 seconds, so watching a full minute of ads between levels would be overdoing it.

I'd have to agree with Pheonyx on this one. I'd buy the game full price if it was a series I loved but with adverts if I was trying it out.

It's really based on the difference between the prices... if it isn't much and it's a game I'd enjoy I'll get the full version.
