New Photos from The Return of the King
A taste of things to come.

quote
January 07, 2003 - They may not reveal Shelob or any of Peter Jackson's other well-kept secrets, but they're still cool to look at – especially this far in advance.

New Line Cinema has decided to share some sneak preview screenshots of the final Lord of the Rings film, The Return of the King. The high-resolution versions of these shots are magnificent, particularly the one of Aragorn armour-clad and mounted, riding off to battle and finally looking like the king he's about to become. Another notable one is of Frodo, entering what may be Shelob's lair and using the magical phial given him by Galadriel to see into the darkness.

Shots of Sam and Frodo, Arwen, Gollum, and Gandalf round out the set. The larger versions can be obtained by clicking on the smaller thumbnails (with the exception of the Frodo Pic). With a little resizing, they could make great desktop wallpaper.

NO SPOILERS AT ALL! I have lost my patience with Spoilers regarding this film...It's already been spoiled about the character Shelob, but since this article also mentioned her, that's as far as I will allow on Spoilers! Please, If you want to discuss in further detail on the events that take place in RotK...Do So in [this] thread in [Books/Lit] Forum!! Anyone who disregards this warning will get their post deleted and a 10 day ban!! Sorry, but that's the way it will be until Two Towers arrives on DVD. The [NO SPOILERS RULE] is in effect starting Now! -L.A.

That's actually Smeagle/Gollum. That's a pic from a flash back or something of Gollum's about his earlier life.

Edit: Removed Quote of Pic.

Smeagul was once a hobbit, not a human. I cant wait for the movie to come out (its christmas time agains right?). The only sad thing is that after I see it there will be no more lord of the rings

No, Smeagol was a hobbit-like creature, not an actual hobbit I believe.

Yes, Decemeber, just like the other ones.

no smeagol was a hobbit. in TTT frodo says "you were not so very different from a hobbit once" which basically means, he used to be a hobbit. at least thats the way i understand it...anyone else?

Gollum/Smeagol was not a Hobbit. He was like one, but he wasn't one. He was part of a group of river-folk who's name I can't recall right now, but I assure you that I'll post it later...

Indeed...having watched Two Towers 4 times now it definitely says he was once close to that of a hobbit, but he wasn't actually a hobbit. He was some kind of River Folk like Slacker mentions

This is a pic of Smeagle's transformation.
I scanned it from a newspaper so the quality aint great and its in black and white. I posted this in the Two Towers thread but i suppose i'll post it in here too.
