quote About
Hotel Transylvania is a 2012 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Pictures. It was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and Sym-Bionic Titan, and produced by Michelle Murdocca. The film features the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Jon Lovitz, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Spade.
How is there not a thread for this? (Or is my search bar just pissing on me for not finding any matches?)

Anyway, I just got home from watching this and I loved it. It was a nice family movie. Really liked the comedy bits of the movie, too. I came to the theater knowing very little of this movie (I only found out that Sandler was the lead voice when I actually heard the dude speak, lol) I was surprised to know that the cast was the usual Sandler friends (Spade, James). I was expecting Schneider to pop in, though.

Loved the random bits like the little Gremlin lady.

And oh, for anyone who's aiming to watch this, watch out for the Disney/Pixar nods. Excellent stuff.

It was a tossup between this and Frankenweenie last night, but ultimately we ended up staying in and watch E.T.

Saw this last weekend.

It was alright, but a little too slapstick for my tastes. There wasn't enough cleverness to keep me fully entertained, but the animation was wonderful and the characters were very likeable.

Dracula (Adam Sandler) was great. Without him, the movie would have sucked.

I'd give it a 6/10.

Why did no one ever tell me Genndy Tartakovsky did this movie?!

Double-edged sword. Genndy directed it, but then look at that cast. That is a straight Dreamworks style of cast right there. Won't be going near this for a while.

I thought it was obvious with the animation style?

It just didn't look like his usual animation style. When I heard he did Clone Wars, and I looked at it, I wasn't surprised. But this surprised me.

Well he wrote and directed it. The cast is just to launch it in to the mainstream media.

Sandler had input on the movie, though. But that's not a bad thing. I liked the Sandler type jokes in the movie.

I rather enjoyed this movie TBH, but then again I'm fond of kid-friendly movies in general (Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Blue Sky Studios, etc).

Mavis was adorable in both human and bat form XD

Thought Johnathan was a bit eh at first (bit moronic I should say), but he grew on me over the course of several scenes, and in the end I did like him.

Dracula was, of course, rather well done. Adam Sandler doesn't seem like a bad choice in hindsight.

I watched the commentary (Commentary subtitles, that's pretty uncommon!), and while it was a bit interesting, I think I would have preferred just watching the movie normally a second time.

I got the 3D set, since I will, EVENTUALLY, get a 3DTV, Glasses-Free type. I can already watch 3D stuff on my computer, but it's just not the same as watching it in a home theater, not to mention the glasses (in conjunction with my headphones) get rather uncomfortable after a while.

The script was kind of weak, animation was great though and Mavis was adorable.

Oh, and a sequel has been greenlit. Hopefully they'll step it up.

Wondering what they'll do with the sequel.

Probably a 'meet the parents' type thing will happen, but beyond that I dunno.

Was wondering if they'd shoe-horn in a sequel.

Meeting the parents would be cool, but I want to explore the supernatural world they created.

Agree with all three points. I didn't actually start laughing at what they said until like a third of the way through the movie. Was starting to get a bit worried by then.

Animation was beautiful; reminded me of How to Train Your Dragon in a way. Mavis was pretty cute for a batgirl tbh, and I normally don't care for vampires.
