Don Johnson Joins Tarantino's Django UnchainedquoteOctober 11, 2011 - Variety reports that Don Johnson has been cast in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. The former "Miami Vice" star will be joining Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx (who played Ricardo Tubbs in the Miami Vice movie), Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette and M.C. Gainey in the December 25, 2012 release.
In the film, Django (Foxx) is a freed slave, who under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself. After assisting Waltz on taking down some bad guys for profit, he is in turn assisted by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio).
Johnson will play a plantation owner named Spencer Bennett.
Filming is set to start in November. The Weinstein Company will distribute domestically and Sony Pictures overseas.

Hell of a cast shaping up right there. The Christmas release seems a little puzzling because there's no way in hell this isn't R. The Weinsteins must have been pretty happy with how Inglourious did.

Haven't seen anything to debunk this, so I hope this goes through. Would add tremendously to the already awesome cast.

I've just heard about this film and can't wait. Will be like Inglourious Basterds but instead of Jews getting revenge it will be blacks getting revenge.

I'm probably still about as skeptical as I was when Inglorious Basterds was a few months out. Recently caught Cristoph Waltz in Carnage though, and the man can probably do no wrong.

That almost didn't even look like Jamie Foxx there. Had to do a double take.

I thought it was Terry Crews at first. Up until I saw that post I'd been thinking Will Smith was in this, I need to pay more attention considering the film should be awesome

Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell have left the building.
No big deal. We might now be missinng out on some classic Tarantino
one-scene wonders though.

Trailer's scheduled to 'premiere' at such and such tonight, but there's already various leaked versions that are all too easy to find,
like this one.
This will be a lot of fun. I'm a little worried Foxx will be phoning it in compared to his co-stars, though it'd be kind of hard to go more over the top than this DiCaprio performance looks.
