So...

I beat the Water Temple for the first time today (:3), and I didn't really mind the boot-switching. I was indeed ready to kill myself more than once during the temple, but it wasn't the boot switching that was the reason.

So, why does everyone hate the temple so much?

Edit: And yeah because bond007106 asked, I'm talking about the original.

You're talking about the original game, right? People don't really hate the Water Temple; they just find it frustrating because they find it difficult (although i've always wondered what all the fuss was about. Like with Gyorg in Majora's Mask; it's supposed to be a frustratingly difficult boss, but i found it pretty easy).

I hate the Water Temple simply because I found it too hard to navigate, even with the help of a guide. The map didn't help me at all and I couldn't find where to go, so I just quit while I could. I haven't touched it my N64 version since...

THAT ONE KEY

ONE GOD DAMNED KEY WHERE IS IT.

But no the boot switching is more just boring tedium then anything.

The boot switching wasn't the bothersome part, it was the switching water levels.

And THAT GODDAMN KEY made you have to do it like 5 more times 3:

It should be a lot easier this time round though because of such features as the updated graphics and the ability to switch boots on the touchscreen.

I know, it's the layout that bothers people the most, but the new features should help alleviate their concerns. The boot swapping, for example, will stop you having to do it every two seconds through the map, so your gameplay will be quicker and less disrupted. May not seem directly linked at first, but I can guarantee people will already be feeling a lot less annoyed because of it.

A lot of people seem to just dislike the levels and their layout. Not too hard to remember what you're doing though, especially if you drew it out on a piece of paper or something if you don't have particularly good memory.

In summary: although the Water Temple will likely remain the most annoying for the majority of people, I think it'll be a substantially different experience to the original.

I don't hate the Water Temple, it's just you have to constantly switch the water levels, which tends to annoy most people. For me, the keys were very easy to find.

I hate the water temple because of the changing water level over and over again as well as struggles to find one last key sort of crap. And like others said it's hard to navigate.

If you check each water level and explore in every compass direction carefully, you won't miss a key.

So, after beating it on the 3DS, I want to know what everyone thinks about it.

Honestly, the only thing they could've done to make it easier would've been giant flashing lights that tell you where to go. ;P

I just started the Water Temple on 3DS. Never been through the Water Temple on any version of the game.

I'll post my thoughts when I do though, probably later tonight or tomorrow, as I'm now beginning it on 3DS.

I don't have the 3DS version, but I remember in the Gamecube version, it took me about 3 hours straight to figure out where to go (the wall that you have to bomb) and how to get there. Then, you make one mistake on the water levels and you have to go all around again.

This temple's music should just be Zelda's lullaby. It's what you hear for the majority of it anyways.

I was watching a Walkthrough of the Water Temple the other day of the original N64 version and I can see why people found it so frustrating. So glad Boot Switching was made so much easier this game.

I found it pretty easy. I would have done a perfect run of it, but I made one mistake so had to lower the water level again to retrieve a small key.
