Yeah, it can use Fly, for those who haven't looked it up on Serebii yet.

Just throwing that out there for you. I just thought that was pretty damn cool. Faithful to Transformers or whatever robots inspired it too, but really was not expecting that. 8D

Yeah it's kinda weird that some kind of huge ancient thing would learn fly.

Clay, actually, hence the Ground typing.
But Golurk is also based on some sort of giant mecha, which is why it learns fly. It's just a reference to popular culture, there have been others, such as Bisharp being based on some kind of Super Sentai member.

it's supposed to be based off of a mecha I think. Mechas do have the ability to fly.

Golurk reminds me of Iron Giant. I dont know if it's based off of that but that would explain why it could fly.

Yeah, I thought so too about the mecha thing. I hope Golurk gets its own episode in the anime, 9ft clay mecha flying overhead would be awesome and the episodes are so linear you can watch it in Japanese without needing subs.

Since I don't play competitive I don't really know where Fly would be useful. Poliwrath? *shrugs* But it would cover a few types at least, and that base 124 Attack + Attack+ nature would be enough to make it decent.

Naw, Fly is still a terrible competitive move, regardless of who uses it its still a nearly free switch

Fly is one of those decent stalling moves, like Dive on a Ludicolo.

Regardless, Golurk still can't stall for... something other than beans but equally pathetic, so as to avoid the cliché.

It's not much good competitively, but it's very useful in the Battle Subway.

Golurk isn't actually based off a mecha. It's based off a Golem, a clay monster. And yeah, he was my Flyer for my first run through (Named Loew, after the rabbi who supposedly created the first Golem in the Ghetto in Prague). Good Pokemon, but can't learn very good moves until endgame.

its not based of a mecha
it a golem infused with ghot energy , that what brings it to life
its said that if the seal on its chest is broken it will unleash a torrent of bad energy
