Subject: Route 18 Egg will not hatch

I know it's the Larvesta pokemon and it takes about 5 to 6 times as many steps as a normal egg. The thing is, I do have it where it says : "Sounds can be heard coming from inside! It will hatch soon!"
I took a step and the game paused, and the normal "Oh?" came up as if it were to hatch. Then it just sat there. I thought it froze until I pressed the d-pad to move. Each time I take a step, my character says OH like it's going to hatch but IT DOES NOT hatch.
What is the problem the egg won't hatch?

have the exact problem but i hadnt used any cheats. and the only reason i can think of is that i was either underwater or surfing when it first happened. :/ bastard wont even let me walk if i dont remove him.
please help cuz i want me a pokemon
