So, I've heard a lot of hype from this series. A friend of mine is watching S1 right now and will not shut up about it.

Is it really as good as he/other people have been saying it is? Should I go and check it out?

PS: I do have Netflix, so it really isn't a big deal to watch it but if there's better things...
First season is good it's produced and adapted by Frank Darabont the guy most known for directing Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.. Like all shows overall quality is hit and miss based on who is chosen to direct the episode but it stays rather consistent. As for the second season only one episode has aired so far and it was pretty good though it is the last episode that Frank Darabont worked on, so we're in the dark about how the other 12 episodes are gonna go. It could be amazing or it could be shit.

The first episode is a must-see, but I doubt people in or out of this thread will be defending the season as a whole.

Latest premiere was alright. Could have done without the characters' angry prayer monologues to a bloody crucifix. Hiding under cars and jamming screwdrivers into zombies' faces = yes, though. If we really don't find out who shot the kid or where the other kid is I'm gonna have to accuse them of trying a little hard to include unexplained/unresolved elements every 20 minutes. Like the missing one handed Merle from S1 or the entire *bleep*ing CDC.

And as much great has Darabont has done in the seven episodes we've seen, he was also in charge when the more mediocre stuff was produced and put to air. Successor Glen Mazzara is a veteran of The Shield and not a complete stranger to gritty TV, so there's no reason to flat out assume what comes next should be absolutely worse or better than anything we've seen. If anything its biggest consequence might be that actors from Darabont movies won't keep popping up.

Kinda felt like that first ep was a BIT of a let down.. I love the series and the comic but come on.. how far could a little girl have gone and it was annoying that she left that spot for no reason whatsoever.

I like how they're tying in the farm now and they've kept the reason for finding it the same as in the comics.

But damn.. bring Tyrese in already! He's pivotal to the storyline.. and i really hope they arent thinking about 'replacing' him with this T-Dawg person and keeping Shane around so theres still another 'strong guy' in the group. Also was hoping they'd have included the part where they stay in that town that had the zombies in it but they would have needed to introduce Tyrese already for that and it happens before they reach the farm.

Also the Andrea in the show seems to be a lot more whiny than the badass Andrea in the comics. Hope once she learns to shoot a gun, her attitude changes too.

Other than that.. everything else was really good lol

Finished the first season of this. Episode 1 was amazing, think it went down a bit in quality as it went on but the pilot was just superb.

Hope the 2nd season quality doesn't go down due to the showrunner leaving, how's it so far?

First part was like the pilot, second part was like episodes 3-5. Showrunner credit will be different in coming episodes.

I love this show, gotta be one of a few shows I watch. My favorite person is Norman Reedus- Daryl Dixon Which The Living Angelus isn't on the first post with the cast.

s02e02 - "Bloodletting" (Spoilers!)

This episode should have been called The Talking Dead. Christ what a boring episode. Didn't help that I was also watching a PPV, but still. It was boring and nothing happened, other than I think T-Dog is going to die or turn into a zombie. Same thing anyways.

Definitely need to rewatch this and pay a little closer attention, but meh.

Not a lot going on in this episode. Lots of dialog but nothing really moved the show along. They should have included more scenes at the high school instead of saving most of it for next episode.

I agree with TLA, I stopped watching the PPV to watch The Walking Dead but nothing interesting happened.

So they made Otis extremely fat instead of extremely skinny, Hershel has pretty much become a full blown doctor, Andrea is continuing as a whiny bitch, and the show has just added another non-canon story. Not looking good this season. Tyreese and Michonne are the only salvation for the series.

The fact that Kirkman is a part of the team just confuses me. Why would he let them stray from the comic? If you're going to do an adaptation, you might as well follow the source material. Half of these people should be dead already.

Well, I'm watching this in the UK, so I'm still only on episode 1 of Season 2 until friday.

Personally, I thought it was a great episode. Not as great as season 1's pilot, but great never the less. I especially liked the intro, where Rick is sitting on the roof telling Morgan over the radio that they are moving on.

I thought it had a great mix between zombies, then exploring the characters. I would have hated it to be a full hour of zombie-hiding-killing stuff. Plus, I certainly didn't see Rick's son getting shot coming, and thought it was a good twist.

I don't read the comics, so I can't really comment on them, but I would assume that surely the show following a slightly different route then the comics is a good thing? I mean, I would hate to know everything that is going to happen if I read the comics.

I really hope T-dawg dies. The quicker they kill him off.. the quicker they bring in Tyrese. And besides Darrel, he's the last non comic book character left in the group so I kind of think his days are numbered (although could be wrong).

Boring episode though.. Although im interested in seeing how they explain Sophia STILL not being found. They're gonna have to have a good reason as to why shes still alive when they find her (coz of course they arent going to kill off a little girl) because its highly unlikely a young girl can survive on her own in the forest with walkers roaming around.. not to mention find food/water supplies (might only have been one or two days away, but no water for 2 days for a child would surely *bleep* them up).

Can see them drag out the Carl getting shot story too for another episode.. even two.

Merle is still out there somewhere. Darryl is the only enjoyable character that was added, once they got past the whole racist redneck bullshit.
