Subject: Can I get the Zodiac Spear?!

I have taken the treasure chests in front of Old Dalan's house earlier in the game.Is it possible for me to get the zodiac spear by any sidequest? How important is the Zodiac spear for the completion of the game? I did not take the chests at the royal aplace and the confiscatory. Somebody please help me out!

You can get a treasure in Henne Mines later but it has a 1/1000 chance of being a zodiac spear.
Its not important in completing this game. There are lots of other weapons such as Excaliber tournesol and Ultima blade.
I wouldnt go and start a new game over it.

No luck bud, you'll have to join the rest of us 6845174 people that also opened up one, if not all, the treasure chests we were suppose to leave alone. You can get it later on in the story but you've basically got a 1/1000 chance. It'll be located in the new area of the henne mines after you've collected enough espers. I can't go into much detail but if you did a search on the forum, I'm sure you'll find something that'll help. Gl =/

I haven't tried a zodiac spear, but Im pretty happy with Masamune+Genji Gloves, Sagitarius and Wyrmhero Blade (I mean 50 evade on a 2 hand weapon = awesome)
|Just make sure to not open those chests on your next playtrhough
Plus, it looks pretty stupid too from the screenshots I've seen heh.
Offtopic: I hate how square didnt make the character skins change when you equip new armor

No Final Fantasy mainstream title, aside from Final Fantasy XI ever had the capability to change the appearance of your character with armour equipped.
Anyway, I think it would look dumb, equipping things like a Sallet onto a female character.
I think the game is fine the way it is.

I dunno, I just remember being really disappointed when I finally bought some new armor for Vaan...and when I put it on him he still had the same gay little outfit on lol

Yeah, I'd like that too. You could change their costumes. But that would be more burden in the size of the game. Just a guess..

haha yeah I thought that would've been awesome I kinda wished they did since they did it like XI. Just think of how awesome that would of been tho. Reks had a cool outfit and so did Rassler

Zodiac Spears are for lames that want the game to be made easy!
I opened the treasures as well...
There is a ton of armour in the game, it would be far too heavy on the system for it to change the skins for everything. I think it looks great anyway. =/

Zodiac Spear makes the game somewhat easier, its true, I killed Pyralatser(the last notice board hunt) in 1 min 23 secs with it on Vann and him w/ Bravery Haste and Berserk. But even w/ it it takes at least 5 min at Lv 70 to take down Fafnir and Behemoth King. (Against Yiazmat, who is a massive, massive bizatch, its better to use 3 Yagyu Dark blades, He is weak to dark. Funny eh a wyrm weak to dark?)

Hah! All you need to do against Fafnir is to have long ranged weapons on your 3 chars, ruby rings equipped and cast thundaga on yourself. All he will do is cast magicks at you if you stand far away, this meaning he will hurt himself badly, he wont hurt u a bit at all, and he will die extremely fast. I did this at lvl 55 :>

arg, I missed it too, somehow. I guess I opened one of the chests I wasn't supposed to (though I'm positive that I didn't open any of the chests) but the chest wasn't there when I got there =/ Oh well, I raided the Dark matters and got my personal revenge xD

I wouldn't say you can't change the characters appearance...You could change the dress spheres in FFX-2 and that changed what they were wearing and how they looked...
