So I'm trying to catch it. Not working.

I know the chances are pretty low and it IS just chance, but what is more useful to raise the chances?

Is it better to put them to sleep or to paralyze them?

And what kind of ball? Is Ultra Ball better, or Dusk Ball since he's in a cave?

So far I think I've had to shut off my game 50 times because it just won't get caught :\

I would recommend:

timer balls-if you're going in for a long battle
dusk balls-in a cave (as you stated)

EDIT: for a full list of your options look here: http://www.serebii.net/itemdex/list/pokeball.shtml

Is there any limit to how high a Time Ball can get?

Because my battles can easily go for 34839483 turns XD Blissey can take about 20 hits from the Articuno.

40 turns is when it becomes most efficient.

EDIT: according to bulbapedia 30 turns is max...not 40.

30 seems like it should be the max.

Sleep condition is better for capturing.

Dusk ball is the best. Dusk Ball at the beg= x4, Timer Ball after 30 turns= x4. So they become the same after 30 turns.

Oh yeah...i forgot about the stats part of the question. xD

the best ones are paralyze and sleep due to they won't end up killing it.

So lemme see if this is right...

Articuno's catch rate is 3, so if I put it to sleep then that's x10, so that's 30, and if I use a Dusk Ball then it's x4 which is 120... right? Or does it not work like that?

It does not work like that. You have to factor in its remaining health/max health and do other things.

Catch = PokeballEffect (((( 4 * Max HP - 2 * HP ) * Catch Rate ) / Max HP ) + Status + 1 ) / 256

T__T can't I just punch the stupid bird in the face and tie it up or something, omg.

Thanks ;3

How do I find out the Poke's HP, though? :\ Since I can't really see it.

False Swipe is your best bet, since you'll know it'll stop at 1. Heavy balls might also work for Articuno, as it works best on heavy pokemon and legendaries tend to be heavy.

STOP BRAGGING :#

Heavy Balls won't work - I checked its weight and it's only 122, but in order for it to be fully effective it needs to be over 220lbs.

You could always try the FEAR Rattata method as well - a weak Pokemon equipped with a Focus Sash. When Articuno hits it, it'll be down to 1HP and you can use Endeavor on it to bring the opponent down to 1 as well. Then just put it to sleep or paralyze it and see if that works.

I actually just checked Serebii and it said that Articuno can only be caught once you have all 16 badges... yer clearly I'm standing right in front of it now. I'm wondering if it was a typo or if I can FIND it and just can't CATCH it until I have all 16? Like some invisible variable that will prevent me from getting him until I have all the badges.

Hey wuz up Quierta, you are into pokemon yet you mod loungin

I will ask a question and answer your question: Can I get quotes from other forums and put them in the loungin "quotes from neoseekers" thread?

Okay, to catch Articuno, you need Timer balls, your blissey (for Timer balls to get maximum effect), A Pokemon with false swipe and a pokemon with the ability to sleep/paralyze and have a couple of full revives.

1: First get out your Pokemon with false swipe and use it until it gets to 1 hp
2: Make blissey survive for 29 turns
3: Paralyze or make it go to sleep
4: revive blissey and keep throwing timer balls until you get it (if blissey dies, just fully revive blissey again, only blissey.)
