when i am playing games and i have just turned my computer on and is cool then they run without fault however after 10-15 minutes of playing halflife 2 or other games certain textures seem to be covered in flashing black dots. i lived with this for about 2 months but i have recently purchased "arx Fatalis" but the textures are so screwed they are jittering all over the place. it is hard to explain but i realy need some help!
any ideas on how to fix this?? thnx

this is a z-buffer problem i don't know how to solve the problem for this games but for doom 3 try the change r_znear value like r_znear 0.07 just write it autoexec.cfg file at Program Files\Doom 3\base folder

It doesn't sound like a Z-Buffer problem if he can play the game for 10 - 15 minutes flawlessly. That is the typical symptom of overheating. And these cards have little, tiny heatsinks for the major amount of heat they produce. Don't keep running it and letting it pixelate. It can fry the card.

The 9700 is not the card you really should be using anyway. I would try to get a better card if possible.

Also if it overheating, the number one reason is because the air flow inside the case sucks. Try to make it so that there is nothing blocking any of the exhaust fans in the computer. Otherwise you are just blow hot air out of the comp and then it will be pushed right back in.
