Debate thread. That went off nicely, but with a good majority of regulars, mind you.

And no simple debates like the

More annoying: vespoid/bullfango.
The "Who would win in a fight? Los v Tiggy?" was a good one.
Hell, we could have a MH version of SPIKE tv's "Deadliest Warrior" here.

We could have a debate at the MH club thread.....to make it alive again....

Machi, do you know the Game where each person starts off with a certain amount of points, and the each person can post once a day with the info on what person they want to take the points away from?

I thnk I saw it in the old MHF2 thread, is it worth bringing up in this thread?

That would be a Hurt & Heal thread and we had one in here but after a while people just get bored of it and leave it alone.

I want to bring this up again. It would be like the debate thread, except you'd argue exclusively who would win? And you'd have someone write up the simulated fight+victor.

examples:

5-man Town Guardian Squad versus 5-man Guild Knight Shadow assassination squad.
Lao versus Gao

Human vs Human in a Monster Hunter setting would be purely out of speculation with absolutely no fact backing it.

A Monster vs Thread however would be fine since people know the abilities and strengths of the creatures. As long as you do one match at a time and make it a debate rather than every other post being a new match never to be mentioned again.

That's half the fun.

Guardians would use mostly melee weapons, and Shadows would use mostly ranged.
Boom. Debate.

EDIT:

I even got that part planned. For example: Guild Guard versus Guild Shadow.

Guard weapons:
Greatsword
Hammer
Lance
Bow
and the Rapier that is part of the Guild Guard tasset's design

Shadow weapons:
Light Bowgun
Heavy Bowgun
Sword and Shield
Crag shot & Clust shot combination
and the pistol that's part of the Guild Shadow tasset's design.

These are people that can brush off getting trampled by 5 tons of fangs and claws.

Also crag and cluster shots sort of break the light stealth aspect, so does heavy bowguns. Seems like you should swap bow and heavy guns. Overall the whole thing comes across as a low-tech Spy vs Merc from the older Spinter Cell games.

Crag and Clust shots would be the main way for the Shadows to break the Guards Shields. Crag first, hit them at their feet with a clust when they're stumbling back from the impact. It would be indicative of the under-handed, "gang-up style" since you need two people to operate a crag-clust combo.

And I see Heavy Bowguns as like a sniper rifle. Who needs "light stealth" when you're a 500ft away from battle, and inside a shaded area? I arranged the two to fighting styles. Bows you get out, fire, and keep moving. A very direct, un-sneaky way to fight. But the Heavy bowgun you stay put, and move only when you have to. Bows are similar to LBGs, but LBGs have that silencer aspect which makes them sneakier.

Of course, some realism has to be implemented to move things along. For example, Greatsword: One hit-kill. Hammer: One hit kill, with some attacks. But I'd like to see a Guard fight with a round the size of his face sticking out of his armor.

Anyways, these are points that the debaters should be making.
Basically, you would be assigned a team, and you debate over which side would win. It would be to a team's advantage to cover all of their weapons, (Or monster abilities) and rebut all of their opponent's points but it's largely free-style.

Just thought I'd give a slight update on the Hunting Club thread. As far as I can tell, it's a bust. So I won't be doing anything more for it.

Hello. I did not want to start a new thread about this and was hoping I could ask this here in the Moderator thread.

I'm looking for a thread that I saw posted on here a few months ago. The thread was about different Armor combinations. I had saved a few sets to a word document but did not save a link to the page itself. ><

I really would appreciate a link to the page. Want to get a good setup for Hammer :]

Thanks for your time.

Would it happen to be this one? There's a good list of custom armor sets that members of this forum have came up with in there, but if it isn't the right thread you could always use the search feature at the bottom right of the thread list.

@Paradox: I thank you for your reply to my question, but unfortunately that is not the same thread. But I do thank you for showing me that thread. If I am not able to find the thread I was looking for I will just use the one you posted instead.

Perhaps if you see the format from the original you might recognize it.

I am unable to edit my recent post, but I just wanted to say that I found the thread I was originally looking for. I feel kind of dumb about this because it was on a completely different website ><

http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/Monster-Hunter-Series/Armor-Discovery-Thread-For-MHFU-Updated-1-6-NEW/m-p/43857072

Searched through 70 pages to find out it was on another site x.x

Sorry for the inconvenience (and the double post) ^^;

So with the Hurt and Heal thread done, what else is on everyone's mind? Perhaps another H&H except with Generation 1 and 2 this time? What else could we bring to the table?
