Ninja Gaiden is known for being a really difficult game - I wouldn't say as hard as Devil May Cry(on Normal mode, anywyas), but still relatively tough. I recall making the first Ninja Gaiden significantly easier by somewhat spamming a certain move, but it didn't really work against bosses. Ninja Gaiden had some of the toughest boss fights I've ever fought, and Alma(the first fight) is no doubt in my top 5 of toughest boss fights ever. What did you think of the difficulty in the previous Ninja Gaiden, and do you want NG II to be even harder? Easier? Stay the same?

First time I played Ninja Gaiden Black it was the difficulty that I liked and obviously the style, there are hundreds of games that are a piece of piss to play but not NG. I usually have always liked fighting games such as Tekken2, DOA Ultimate, DOA4 and Virtua Fighter 5 so its just like taking any of the characters outside the stage fight and into an adventure game. It's what I would of done if I worked for Team Ninja, even though the series is old school I bet that was the inspiration. I only wish the move inputs were a bit more like one of the DOA games and not just 2 button combos.

Hmm, I never had difficulty with Alma. Either of them. Doku was a bit more problematic, but I struggled a lot with the doppelganger fiends (on hard and up). But boy were they fun. Jesus, I just remembered the two female ancient fiends in the challenge mode... *shudders*

I thought that once you got used to it, and learned the combos, NG wasn't too difficult on normal, and slightly challenging on hard.

I hope NG 2 isn't too much easier than the first (on normal or whatever the equivalent on NG2 is), and appropriately raises the difficulty.

Ninja Gaiden's difficulty was perfect - Despite it's occasional bout of frustrating segments, the game truly tested your skills as a gamer. Nothing in it was ever possible - Team Ninja made sure that it was fair. I don't know if I'd like Ninja Gaiden II to be harder, but if they could keep it on-par with the other difficulty level, that would be great.

I loved the difficulty. It was a challenge. People considered it so hard because no games are ever hard these days. Some are perplexing with puzzles and mysteries, but hardly any games actually require you to have skill to play.

The combat system was partly to thank for this, because wildly bashing buttons didn't help. You had to know how to block and counter and which combos worked best for which situation. As weird as it sounds, it took dedication to the game to finish it on harder difficulties. Ylou had to know your enemies. I look at the Spider Ninjas and the Fire Ninjas from VH/MN mode and I can practically tell you what move they're going to do next. =P

I definitely hope that level of involvement is carried over to NGII.

Honestly, I didn't use that many different moves in Ninja Gaiden for the XBox. You know the move where you'd run up the wall, and come back slashing down? Pretty much all I needed while playing the game. Was incredibly powerful and had great area damage. Worked like a charm in practically every mission. Kind of broke the game a little when I think about it, haha.

Well this game does seem to be getting higher level of difficulty. I mean Even cutting their legs off, they still can hurt you.

I agree with Shane posts.

I think it is actually less hard. The execution system, health system, and healing at save points, makes it a whole lot easier.

You're right on some points, Darknet. The thing is, we need that health regeneration...there'd be no way we could survive the large amount of enemies that come at us between the save points. Not to mention that the save point statue doesn't heal anymore once first used.

Even though the execution helps a ton, this to me keep up with what Ninja Gaiden is known for.

The bosses are a lot tougher.. even the sub bosses.. but this is why I like this series. I like this tough shit.. same with God of War.. Gears of War.. Devil May Cry.. etc on harder modes. I don't ever play a game on easy or normal.. never.. because I dislike finishing the game quicker. I feel more rewarded and spent my money better if I finish it on the harder difficulty.

That was very easy. All you have to do is jump up and do a diving slash, she can't block it 9 times out of 10. Now awakened Alma was something else, I still can't beat her in story mode without using a talisman of rebirth (my bro beat her in mission mode so that was a relief).

But I'm enjoying the difficulty level in NG2 it's really challenging without going overboard like the previous game, however they've definitely stepped it up a couple of notches. I have to say though the bosses are a lot easier for me so far here than NGB. I'm on chapter 6 and I haven't died on a boss yet. I guess all those hours spent on mission mode fighting bosses and berserks really paid off.

The fiends are a lot harder this time around though, very unpredictable since they throw so many at you at once... But I love it!

Speaking of difficulty. Which one is harder? Black/Sigma or this one? On Normal mode that is because I played the demo and it was okay for a first level.

I haven't played Black in forever, but as far as Sigma goes, I'd say that this was harder. The bosses/sub-bosses help add to this.

Haha, speaking of which, my brother was stuck on the 5th boss, one that I beat quite easily (arrows ftw!). He kept continuing and it eventually got me that spirit achievement thing.
