Unbelievably horrible.
I don't think I even need to explain how bad this looks.

Are you serious or joking? These were released ages ago though. This game looks awesome.

You *bleep*ing idiot.
This is NEW.
The videos and pictures there came out YESTERDAY, and it looks *bleep*ing terrible. The graphics are worse than the PS2 Silent Hill games, there's a goddamn HEALTH meter, the animations are horrid and choppy, and the combo system, which was going to be pure shit anyway, looks even worse than before.
*bleep* The Collective. Their turnover rate is legendary, second only to common knowledge of how much their games suck. They've been recycling the Buffy engine over and over and over for every game they've made, and this is no exception - it's supposed to be Silent Hill and the main character is a soldier with hand-to-hand combat skills. Could they possibly miss the point more?
It looks horrible. Just read any description of it and you'll see why it will suck: an ex-soldier returning from Iraq sees war-related horror flashbacks and must fight them using his X,Y combos. *bleep*s sake, Collective, DIE ALREADY.
I BEG Silent Hill fans to not buy this game to send Konami a message. Treat your diehard fans with respect and don't hand over your best franchises to lowball bidders.

Phew. So I'm
not the only one who noticed how bad the graphics looked? I was very impressed with the screens when the first batch was revealed last year, but lately I haven't been as impressed. They actually seem to have gotten worse.
I posted a Gamegrep article a few hours ago about this:
New Silent Hill: Homecoming screens ... are ugly? There's a VAST difference between the screens released last year and the screens released now:
Last year ...
now.
Alot of people on Kotaku (including Kotaku itself) noticed it too, so I'm glad it's not just me.
Here's hoping they get fixed up before release. *crosses fingers*

This has to be some huge *bleep*ing joke by Konami.
They're going to pull a fast one and say HAH, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR SAYING SH4 WAS BAD, *bleep*ERS. HERE'S THE REAL SH5, MADE BY TEAM SILENT.
If not, I hope they just drop the V from the title altogether, and keep it that way, so TS can come back and redeem the series. This message was edited by Chaos Seraph on Apr 27 2008.

I'd hate to bash the game too, but I've also been noticing alot of these monsters look like rip offs from other monsters from previous SH games. SH 1-4 all had a complete new set of monsters that you wouldn't dream of, and I'm noticing alot of these creatures remind me too much of other creatures from the past games. I have an insane imagination, and even their new creatures surprised me and they were something I didn't expect. SH5 on the other hand, are the type of creatures I could have expected easily. Shit, me being an art illustration major, I should work on the game's monster designs, I could create way freakier looking monsters than the ones shown so far.
I'm still going to give this game a shot, but I won't keep my expectations high. Personally, I'm far more excited for the new Siren. This message was edited by Raziel_326 on Apr 28 2008.

Well, to be completely fair, sometimes screenshots and even video captures don't do a game justice compared to how the graphics appear in real life on a real TV screen.
And in my opinion, they don't look
that terrible so far, but that's just me.
In either case, as
Polver said, as long as I get my scares, I'm good with it.

Like I wasn't dreading this game enough before T_T. Now not only is it not being developed by Team Silent, it has bad graphics aswell. Way to ruin one of my favourite game series The Collective.
And on top of crap graphics and a new (awful) design team, they change the lead character from a civilian to a trained soldier.
...wheres Pyramid Head when you actually want to die. >_>

Pyramid Head has actually been confirmed to be in the game. (No lie)
Oh, and new screenshot were released. Main character got his old face back, and the graphics have been re-upgraded. They claim the bad graphics we saw were part of a beta test thing.

Pyramid Head returning is a good thing at least. I always loved PH in SH2 (My favourite of all the Silent hills) But I can only hope he has the same purpose as last time so that he isn't just there as fan-service.

Having Pyramid Head back makes about as much sense as it did plopping him into the movie.
Silent Hill has always been hugely psychological, and each monster was meant to reflect something haunting the character. Needless to say, Pyramid Head was very much "James' demon", and can't simply be recycled just for the sake of being in the maddening town of Silent Hill.
So, yeah, I'd say it's more a fan service, though any real 'fans' are going to look at it the same way I am.
The big exception to the rule is the nurses, which reflect any sane person's fear of a dark, abandoned hospital.
That said, their design needs to remain fresh with each release, as is clearly not the case any longer.

Just face it guys, it's going to suck massive ass. Knowing reviewers though, it's going to get at least a 9 somewhere for "finally rejuvenating" the Silent Hill formula and "dynamically enhancing" your combat options.
I swear to *bleep*ing god, I am SICK and TIRED of the bullshit reviewers come out with over sequels. HOLY SHIT, IT'S SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS GAME? NO *bleep*ING SHIT SHERLOCK. THAT'S WHY I BUY THEM.

I think I am the only RE fan that thought RE4 was one of the worst of the series.

You're not. I completely agree, it's probably the worst of the bunch. The story was completely messed up, the setting was wrong, lol action, too much ammo...list goes on forever.
