The story is that I want to buy a mmorpg for PC, so I made a thread in WoW to ask what was the best one. Predictably, everyone said WoW, but they also said some good things about this. So, what's the best game around?

I don't have either one, but I watched a show on G4 TV that compared those 2. It said World of Warcraft was a little better.

I just want to know how much the monthly fee is for this game. The one on WoW is rediculous. 15$ a month. Hmph.

I prefer EverQuest II since there is much more to do, you cannot level as fast, the graphics are much better and the crafting system rocks The monthly subscription only costs alot of you use a game card, at FutureShop, the game card is 80$ for 3 months but i use a credit card and i get 6 months for 77$

EQ2 lasts much longer than WOW and you have more to do. If you ever played EQ2 you would not take a look at WOW

I haven't even played WoW yet. Dont plan on it. I'm pretty biased when it comes to the EverQuest series because I pretty much grew up playing these games. So yeah, if i've spent thousands of dollars on this, that means it's worth somethin.

Well, having played both, I would say that EQ2 is a little better. It had a bigger background and much more content. There a lot of things to do and waaayyyy more character options. One thing that is annoying though, if your a WoW player, alot of EQ2 players can get very arrogant when you tell them that you play world of warcraft...

On the contrary, WoW is a very good game too. Its very addictive and its easier to understand if your playing for the fisrt time. Unfortunatly, there are alot of immature 6 year olds and ninjas... a shame...

If you ask my opinion, id say EQ2 is better for more hardcore gamers, whereas WoW is better for more casual gamers. (not saying that you cant WoW if your hardcore)

by the way, if i see another "Which game is better" debate between WoW and EQ2 I think im going to go insane.

Bare in mind, I posted that in 05, and the most recent post besides you was in Feb, so you must have been looking pretty hard to find it.

Not that I don't appreciate your oppinion, but don't bump a 8month old thread and then complain about it.

I'll add to the dicussion and bump the post in case players looking for a new MMORPG to play are curious...

Everquest II is a great game if you are looking for an immersive experience with endless hours of gameplay and a mature gaming community. Keep in mind that this isn't the kind of game you can just play for a few minutes every day and progress at a satisfying rate - it's not as casual as, say, WoW.

It's fairly graphic intense, so if you enjoy the game elements of EQ2 but the game looks like crap on your PC, I recommend Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO). LOTRO is also quest/story driven with a dedicated community, but for some reason runs much smoother on my old PC.

If you're more into PvP and an actively involved combat system (rather than the old-fashioned "autoattack"), I would recommend buying Age of Conan (AoC) when it is released on 05/20/08 (pre-order available as of a few days ago). If you're like me and remember "Conan the Barbarian" without fondness, take a peek at the official website (www.ageofconan.com). The gameplay looks and sounds great, what with seige warfare, active combat system, player-made towns/keeps, and sweet graphics. Just be aware that the game is rated "Mature," so it is safe to assume that the community will be anything but mature.

Lastly, if you do not want to pay for your MMO's, try the free R.O.S.E. Online server at www.sevenhearts.net. It's cute, fun, and addictive; what R.O.S.E. lacks in challenging gameplay, it makes up for with quirky personality and a flair for the slightly ridiculous.

I hope this provides a little insight for people looking at EQ2 and maybe looking for additional MMO's.
