When (if?) the FBI raids your HQ, does the game end right there? I've suddenly lost a few games, and all the game says is "Well, if you don't have the law on your side, you don't have nothin". At first, I thought I was getting killed by my enemies, but this last time, I was too powerful with a much weaker enemy, and my place was guarded as tight as can be. Four 4+ star guards in both office and tenement block, and about 5 shotgun armed hoods that I pourposely didn't give any orders to to keep them in the office as well. I don't think he could have busted that, as he tried many times with disasterous (for him) results. Anybody know what the deal is?

Did you bribe the mayor and police chief?

Yep. I even bribe whoever is mayor right after each election. I sat and watched the week go by, I didn't see any attacks on my HQ, or anything that looked like a raid. I re-installed the game to see if it was a glitch. We'll see how it goes.

Strange. Were you in jail at the time or wanted by the FBI? Maybe you didn't bribe the judge or DA?

Did the feds arrest your accountant or lawyer previously? I haven't had that happen (I kill them if they become wanted) but I'm sure that in the manual it says something about if you sack an accountant and he is arrested they can use any taxes evaded against you, and if you sack a lawyer and he's arrested he will have a list of crimes you've carried out that they will use against you.

Just had it happen to me again. I did manage to find out that I was arrested, along with some of my hoods. The work week didn't even finish before it stopped and told me "Thats the breaks" or something like that. I wasn't in jail for three or four weeks, and had no chance to bribe the judge, the game just ended. Any thoughts?

I have no idea. I've never seen this happen. Did you save the game in the weeks prior to this? I save at the end of each week so if you also do this then you may be able to load a save and check with your lawyer wether you were wanted, and if so what for. In my experience your lawyer will warn you that your wanted by the feds, even if it's only one weeks notice.

I'm interested in hearing what you find.

I'm beginning to think it's just a glitch in the program, or some file someplace. It seems like theres always some wierd glitch going on. Before this, it was that I'd have a buisiness or two somewhere that it wouldn't let me guard for some reason. Before that, it wouldn't let me explore a certain block, or would come back finding nothing. This block would contain an enemy headquarters. I could actually sit and watch during the workweek as his hoods filed out of the tenement and get in their cars. On time it did this wierd thing where I had a casino in a bank that went from grossing 31k/week to suddenly losing 31k/week. I eventually ended up starting a counterfeight press that ran fine. I'm thinking maybe it's because of my style of play, I do the low extortion, start buisinesses and become financially dominant route, which takes a lot of weeks. Maybe I get these games so long and involved that the program starts developing errors. I'll post again when the next glitch pops up, lol.

Could be a glitch I suppose but it'd be pretty annoying.

I've had to close down speakeasy's because they made a negative return but I just put it down to bad placement on my part.

I play a similar style to you although I kill as many enemy hoods as possible each week. How many weeks do your games last on average?

I reran the week that it happened on, and made it through, then it happened the next week. This time I wasn't arrested, but one of my buisinesses was raided by the FBI. My lawyer also informed me of a squealer, but her buisiness was empty, so i couldn't do anything. What happens if one your rival bosses wins election for mayor? Could that be whats happening? By the way, this was all around week 45 this time. I've had games that were 300 weeks long.

I've witnessed the squeler problem as well. But its not really a glitch imo, rather a realistic witness protection system. Sometimes squelers remain in their businesess so you just send a hitman next week. In case its empty, go to the journal and try lookig for citizen with the name close to the squaler. It will be changed a lil bit...usually 1 or two letters in his/her first and last names. Thats what happened to me before. And when you find somebody with almost exact name, he/she will probably be hiding in some tentament block, so you can also deal with it.

I just ran it again, I was mistaken before, I ran the week prior to the glitch. Though I noticed another new one. My collection hood said in the past weeks orders that someone in a tenement block that I never extorted or issued a collection order for refused to pay. It was one of my rival bosses HQ. I don't think the Lt. ever executed the order in the first place, since I would imagine one of my hoods walking in and demanding money from a rival boss would be killed on the spot. I think it must just be the way the game installs on my Vista os, or it could be because I have to tab out a lot to get it loaded right. Anyone know if theres a Vista patch available?

I doubt there'd be a Vista patch for this game. There is a patch for the game though, are you running that? I forget what the patch number is but it's the one that gives you the "flee" order during the working week.

Ok, it just happened again. It must be because rival bosses are winning mayoral elections. The last two or three times it's happened, theres been an election going on, and a rival boss has had the lead in the polls. I'm going to have to figure out how to thwart the elections. The only thing I can think of now is to find their HQ and kill them when they get a lead in the polls.

Try sending crews on their territories and "gas leak", extort, break into (raid) and sort of their businesses. That will lower their reputation in the area, because it will mean they cannot protect their land effectively and people will probably stop voting for them..it will basically lower their chances for succeeding election thus they wont take the mayor office etc.

Another thing you could do is to bribe the FBI, Police departament so that they would leave you alone for the time being and deal with the rivals. Not sure if that will be any effective against their election campaign though.

You can also try to look for their income sources. As far as I know in order to win an election and become the mayor it's suggested (not sure if required) if you lower (or don't collect at all) the protection money in your area so that people will start liking you..so basically it should not be their primary cash making thing. Try searching for their illegal businesses and raid/destroy them thus you will cut off some of their main income thus making it hard for him/them to win the election.
