Had possibly mt worst season of any master league on any PES game. Came dead last in Div2 in my first season playing as Rosenborg. I did manage to win the cup though

In the off season I brought in Nakumura, G. Dos Santos and Bystrov all on free transfers

Well it wasn't like I got belted every game, infact I lost 1-0 about 10 times. I need a new striker as Iversen just doens't cut it for me. I have G. Dos Santos now, but he is still young and his shooting stats need improving.

Trouble is I just have no money to spend, so I have to either save for a season and spalsh out on one good player or continue to build my squad with free transfers, in which case I have to wait till the end of the year anyway.

Anyone have Babel?

If so, how does he do for you?

Babel was a bit strange for me. He joined in my 2nd season in Div 1 i think and was immense but not enough to get a starting place but thats only cos my front three of Odonkor, Yakubu and Ribery was perfect.
Then in the next season he was pretty lame even though his stats were better if anything.

ML Match
Man United vs Birmingham City

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are in 6th place in the league after 25 games which is nowhere near the standard expected by the Glazers and most importantly the Manchester United fans. Birmingham however, are having the top-flight debut season of a lifetime in their second season under manager James Ottaway. Man United will have drawn confidence from their shock 4-0 thrashing of second placed Chelsea the previous week. Birmingham also won last week’s fixture 2-0 against Man Utd’s local rivals City at St Andrews. However, they do have Cameron Jerome to thank largely for that as he scored both goals and put in a performance that heavily contrasted with his stuttering start to the campaign. The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at St Andrew’s earlier in the season in a relatively open game.

Team news:

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side look set to be unchanged from their 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge the previous Saturday. The only exception is right-back Phil Bardsley who took a minor knock in the Chelsea game and will not be risked with Wes Brown deputizing.

Despite his two goals against City, Cameron Jerome has to settle for a place on the bench as Nicklas Bendtner returns to partner Mikael Forssell up front. Seb Larsson and Ashley Young also return which relegates Neil Danns and Oliver Kapo to the bench. Curtis Davies and Frank Quedrue picked up minor injuries but should still play.

Danger men:

Wayne Rooney

The final touch has let Sir Alex Ferguson’s side down over the course of the season but Rooney’s habit of playing outside the D will be a problem for centre-backs Kompany and Djourou who like to mark closely.

Ashley Young

Scored the goal against Utd at St Andrews and will be fresh after being rested against City. His pace and lethal finishing of late will make him a threat to Utd as a goal scorer and a goal maker.

Team Sheet:
Man United

4-4-1-1
Van Der Sar; Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand (c), Evra; Park, Scholes, Hargreaves, Giggs; Rooney; Tevez

Birmingham

4-4-1-1
Maik Taylor; Davies, Kompany, Djourou, Quedrue; De Ridder, Larsson, Johnson(c), Young; Forssell; Bendtner

Pre Match interview:

James, traveling to Old Trafford. Is it the same as it used to be or are sides no longer afraid of Manchester United?

Well I wouldn’t say that, they are one of the biggest sides in the world and their stadium definitely has a lot of history. I don’t think anyone has written Utd off or anything because on-paper they are probably the toughest side in the league.

They pulled off quite a win over Chelsea, but your side has beaten Chelsea on two occasions now this season. Does that ease the pressure on you?

Well, I don’t think results against other teams don’t particularly matter in the league. You can’t look at sides and say we can beat them because they lost to this team y’know. I mean look at Arsenal, 9th in the league and yet I believe they were the toughest team we’ve played against this season.

Do you believe you are the under-dogs for this fixture?

I personally believe that our side can beat anyone, on their day. We definitely haven’t got the history that Manchester United has; but as for this game, I have complete confidence in the lads’ ability.

James, thank you!

Pleasure!

Match Report:

Kick-Off – Rooney and Tevez get this game underway with Man Utd playing from left to right.

3 – Curtis Davies receives the ball on the right in space and plays it up field to De Ridder who’s on the right side of the goal with Ferdinand in the way. He’ll try and take him on, he’s got a slight gap and he’s hit at goal wards, oh it’s a GOAL. Van Der Sar could only push it into his own goal. From a tight angle De Ridder has just planted it in the near side of the goal. What a start for Birmingham!

6 – Man Utd not happy with conceding that early goal and Brown has been given some space on the corner of the box. Plays it Tevez on the 6-yard box who surely only needs to turn and score! But Djourou sneaks it away from the Argentine just before he can pull the trigger.

21 – Davies breaks free down the right on a counter-attack, plays a one-two with Forssell, then slides the ball back into Forssell’s path, he’s got a shooting angle! But Van Der Sar is out like a shot and Forssell can only hit Van Der Sar with his shot.

27 – Ashley Young has burst inside Wes Brown on the left. Rushing into the box he tries the shot with his weaker foot….the ball just flashes wide!

43 – Scholes has won it off a clumsy Djourou in a dangerous position, Rooney and Tevez are waiting in a virtually empty penalty area, played to Rooney, just needs to shoot….he’s tried set up Tevez and the ball runs loose just long enough for Kompany to hoof it up-field.

44 – Birmingham now stream forward on the counter, Johnson plays a one-two with Bendtner that’s put him almost clear, he attempts a shot with his left…Van Der Sar blocks it and it’s out for a corner.

HALF TIME SCORE - 0-1

52 – Free-kick to Birmingham from 18M which Ashley Young will take, he goes to float it over the wall…and it goes over the bar as well!

68 – Man Utd have had a good 10 minute spell of possession here but Birmingham are sticking tight. Young releases Quedrue down the left who beats Brown to hook the cross back for Bendtner…Van Der Sar flies across to parry Bendtner’s header and Evra clears it for a throw in.

69 – Birmingham have forced a corner, swung outwards by De Ridder…and headed over by Forssell.

72 – Wes Brown is replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo, Ferguson deciding to play him just behind strikers Rooney and Tevez. Birmingham make a couple of subs too…Ridgewell replaces Quedrue and Bendtner comes off for 18 year-old whizzkid Freddie Carter.

79 – A nice little one-two between subs Carter and Ridgewell, who rolls it back across, Carter shoots…turned aside by Van Der Sar for a corner. Super save. Birmingham make their final sub bringing off Forssell for Oliver Kapo.

90 – Nice run by Larsson, he’s in the area holding off Scholes, tries to roll it to Carter, but Vidic intercepts and boots it clear.

90 – Forward by Utd in what will surely be their last attack. Park in space on the right sends the ball low along the floor right across the face of, Taylor spills it…but Djourou is there to hoof it clear. Taylor is incredibly lucky that the ball fell to Djourou in that crowded penalty area. Djourou’s clearance is the last kick of the game.

Final Score – Manchester United 0 – 1 Birmingham City

Post-Match interview

So James, a win at Old Trafford, you must be pretty relieved?

Yeah, um…we’ve got the three points which is always satisfying especially against one of the big clubs

Would you call yourselves one of the big clubs now?

Well, we’ve got to not get ahead of ourselves and keep things realistic. We definitely can’t afford to relax so I’m trying to keep up the mentality of taking each game as it comes.

Would you call this a comfortable win?

By the end it was a very close game and Man Utd had a lot more possession than us but also, we created the most chances, had the most attempts and that’s helped us get the goal and pick up the points.

A goal from an unlikely player?

Yeah, he’s very happy about it because he normally makes most of our goals rather than scoring them but every credit to him, there are a lot of players that would have tried to hold the ball up in that position but he went for it and it’s won us the game.

One final question, you’re now 15 points ahead of Chelsea with 8 games remaining thanks to their defeat by Arsenal today. Is the title race over?

It’s not over until it’s been won. None of us can afford to lose our heads because the consequences could be terrible. We’re still in the cup and there is a long way to go yet.

Thanks James!

Had a much better second season with my Rosenborg ML. Won promotion on the last day after I beat Shakhtar Donetsk on the final day and Ajax beat Werder Bremen so I moved into second. I also beat Ajax in the Cup for the second year running, 1-0 thanks to a Janczyk goal.

In the off season I was quite busy with transfers, which I had to be as my captain retired and I have about 3 other players that are 35 or over.

I managed to sign M.G. Pedersen from Blackburn, which is a huge signing. I also brought in two ML Youths, Villar, a right back from Argentina and Ket, a SMF/CMF from Ukraine. I have no idea who they are as I have the Neo file and TVI changed all the names I also signed Leijer an Australian left sided defender who played for Fulham to help bolster my defence.

I am hoping to have a good season in the top flight as I only have 167 PES Points and my team is worth over 11,000
